We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for two nights this past July… what an adventure and a slice of tranquility. My husband, who “can never stay put more than 2 minutes” sat on the porch for an hour looking at the fjords and the mountains at 10pm at night with the sun still up as if we were in the afternoon. The rooms are very comfortable, and the food and service are “10”-stars-excellent. The Lodge is the perfect base to fully experience Fox Island’s tranquility after the visitors for a day were gone. Right on the premises we saw eagles, otters and a multitude of marine birds. Very peaceful… but don’t forget your mosquito repellent !

The island was beautiful. The food was excellent. The hike though it was rainy was worth it. We had fun guide for kayaking. We got to see orcas from shore. The wood burning sauna was unique. The atmosphere was relaxing.

We spent 3 nights at Fox Island and despite serious rain for most of our stay, we had a great time. The quality of the food is amazing, the off-the-grid cabins are very comfortable, the wood-fired sauna a real treat, but really the staff there is what made our trip so memorable. Everyone we came into contact with was super helpful and happy to share their knowledge of the area and to do whatever they could to help make our experience exceptional.

We were initially hesitant to book two nights here and we are SO GLAD we did. We traveled to Alaska in July ‘22 with our three teenagers and we all feel that our stay at Kenai Fjords was the best part of the trip. We got to disconnect from the business of daily life and reconnect with one another. It is absolutely beautiful and the staff is caring and goes above and beyond to connect with the guests. The food was out of this world to the point that our picky 16 year old told Chef Jess that she was his favorite person on the island. Book your stay. You will make memories of a lifetime.

We had a wonderful time here. The cabins are nice although you have to go to the dining room/lounge to plug in anything. You are right on the water and can take a walk all along the stone beach. When kayaking we saw puffins practicing their cliff landings and had a humpback surface very close to us! Jess's food was by far the best we had in 2 weeks in Alaska; we loved all of it.

We had a beautiful stay on Fox Island. The good was exceptional. Chef Jessica was fantastic. The staff was great. Sydney was so helpful as we're out servers Tori, Dana & Angela. Angela was particularly attentive to our needs. Sadly it rained out entire stay -- but it did not dampen our spirits it was still a wonderful stay

The property location is amazing. The views of the mountains with the beautiful turquoise water of the bay never get old.The cabins are very clean and comfortable. Sea otters, River Otters and Whales swim up into the bay to entertain you. The food in the restaurant was exceptionally good, gourmet quality, fresh, healthy, & so unique..the chef has amazing talent & a love of cooking..(Billie..he is so friendly & fun to talk with ). The serving staff Sarah & Arielle were delightful, hard working, accomodating & friendly. They could not do enough to make our stay special..from fun fancy hot chocolates to making a fire in the lodge or outdoor fire pit!! The beautiful deck and comfortable Adirondack chairs make you never want to leave. .

The town of Seward was just a beautiful little town. Everyone at the port was super friendly when boarding to get to the Lodge on Fox Island. Our family had a most amazing time kayaking, hiking, hanging in the lodge playing cards, puzzles with other guests, and the must do sauna then polar plunge into the bay right after. The staff and the chefs were an amazing crew whipping up the most delicious gourmet meals. I recommend this trip to anyone!

We stayed at the Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge in the Auklet cabin for 4 nights, the first week of June. We were fortunate enough to have very Atypical weather. It was warm and sunny, except the day we left which was overcast and rainy. The food was good and ranged from very good to really excellent. Salads were always an option. The granola was delicious.. Vegan/vegetarian options varied by the dietary needs of guests. Breakfast and lunch are buffet and dinner is served family style. The start of a season with new staff can be a little bumpy because everyone is feeling their way and working together. Since we were there 4 nights, you could see cohesiveness take shape. The lodge staff were great and responsive to questions (I always have many). The cabins were cozy. I never heard the generator except in the drying room. Every family has their own cabin and there are no shared walls. It was very quiet. Everyone is worn out and happy to retire to their cabins in the evening after a day of paddling, hiking, canoeing, eating. The sky at night was NOT amazing because it wasn't dark. Electricity isn't needed at night because it's light out in June. If you only stay 2 nights, you can only participate in 2 activities because of time constraints. 3 nights gives you more options. 4 nights gives you a chance to sit down and breathe. Many people come to Alaska for the wildlife and I do, too. It's easy to forget about the "other" lives-birds, plants, bugs, the totality of the ecosystem. The section of old growth forest on property is a classroom unto itself. The lodge is located off the grid. Supplies are brought in on the boat you ride in on, trash and recyclables ride out with you. They are working hard with best practices to leave no imprint in a very sensitive habitat.

First time to Alaska, and all that went agreed that our 2 night stay on Fox Island was one of the highlights of our trip. The location is unique and great - the accommodations are well kept and nice, the food was outstanding, and the staff was the best that we encountered our entire trip. The kayaking was just o.k. - wasn't much to see besides Puffins, unless Puffins are your thing. Hike was good. 2 nights is a great time to stay, and the Fjord excursion on the end was impactful and so great.
