The clerk at check-in charged my credit card for double the amount and slipped my copy in an envelope, hoping I would not see the error. When I brought it to her attention she recharged the correct amount, but the "voided" amount is still pending on my credit card thus reducing my available credit.

When I saw the picture of the “Inn” on the website I thought that the hotel was trying to be nostalgic but what you see is what you get! It’s an old timer motel that you would find on a 4 lane highway from the 50s/60s. No A/C, no hair dryer, no coffee in the room but they did have hot water. You wouldn’t think you would need A/C in Alaska in August but you do need some circulation in the room. Alas, no ceiling fan either. When I looked at the hotel I actually did try to call another hotel for a room (and I have never done this!). The room was on the first floor by the road so we couldn’t leave the door open while we slept. I know that you get what you pay for but we paid over $300 a night to stay. TRUST ME… pay the $50 more a night and stay some place else. The room was old but it was clean. This is the only reason why I gave it two stars instead of one.

Dated and in need of some repair, but clean. Pros: fast hot water…. Showers were good. Beds were pretty comfortable with memory foam mattress toppers. Semi-stocked kitchenette was convenient for early breakfasts and snacks. New Smart TV. Smelled very clean when we arrived. Cons: WiFi was very slow. The fridge in our kitchenette- the freezer acted as a fridge and the fridge didn’t keep things cold (yes, we checked the temperature dials in both). There was a thermostat on the wall, but it didn’t appear to be connected to anything. The room got stuffy during the day and because there was no fan or AC we had to open the windows- which was fine- but there wasn’t a screen and it made for noisy (and sunny) evenings which made it hard to sleep while adjusting to the time difference. Pillows were underwhelming. Pretty sure this room (106) wasn’t originally built to be a hotel room- top half of the door is glass (with a window shade that doesn’t completely cover the glass) It’s a little cramped: no room for a small table and nowhere else to sit but the beds. Little things like a visible missing outlet cover, missing knob off drawers, a previously installed tv mount still on the wall but not in use, and a smashed lamp shade cover made it feel run-down. I’d stay here again if I HAD to, but I’d look elsewhere first.

Top notch cleaning crew. Room did not have a screen for the sliding door to the room. Liked that there was a sink outside of the shower since we had 4 people in the room. Great hairdryer. Very mushy mattress, did not bother me but could for someone who prefers a medium-hard mattress.

We stayed here while in Seward. It wasn’t terrible, but I would definitely stay somewhere else next time. Our room had what appeared to be new poorly installed carpet squares, one of which wasn’t connected to the tack strip out of the bathroom so I caught my toe on it and managed to trip. We had 2 nice bed side lamps, and on one side of the bed it couldn’t even plug in, so I guess it was decoration? We had one plug accessible so that makes charging devices challenging. There were no overhead lights, only two lightbulbs literally hanging from the wall which didn’t even put out any light. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Thanks for taking a moment to share with us your feedback. We are disappointed you did not see the value in our motel; we are one of the most economical options when visiting Seward and while we may not offer all the amenities other hotels may; you will find that when traveling in Alaska we provide some of the best rates. Thank you for sharing.

Morgan at front desk was helpful at check-in. Best toilet paper and decent towels on our trip. Only nice things I can say. Carpet stained, bathroom tiles covered in mildew, tub chipped and stained, shower head too low (even for me at 5’2”), tv useless, bed cover old and worn, lumpy bed and pillows, sketchy door lock and way overpriced. Plus, they overcharged me after I canceled a second room, within the time limit. Good thing they’re closed for the season. Don’t go here.

This is a motel first of all, not an inn. Looks terrible on the outside but we were trying hard to not allow this to spoil our expectations. The outside door had broken shades, still trying to not judge. But the inside we were still not prepared for. Broken electricity outlet, heating cover just hanging there exposing the insides, dusty lamps, some lamp covers damaged etc. It looked like someone was in a drunken rage and destroyed the room. This was nothing in comparison with when i peeled the comforter - big yellow stain right there under the sheets. At this point we stormed out, found another hotel and told the girl in the office that the room was unacceptable and we need a refund. She did not contest this request so it probably was not the first time.

We booked a room (101) for a one night stay. Granted hotel rooms are limited but this $291 room was terrible! The place smelled musty, back window cracked, curtain only covered 3/4 of window, bed pillows were the lumpiest I have ever felt, bathtub was old and drain rusty, toilet tank dripped water, no bath rug, white bath towel stained with black marks, trash was not emptied, and we ran out of toilet paper without a spare roll. (Luckily, my sister was in her rv and brought some over (office did not open til 10am)). The location, across from the harbor, is the only good part. Definite updates needed badly!!!

Hi Carol, thanks for taking a moment to write us this review. We understand our prices on weekends and special dates may seem high but this fluctuates with the demand; we are proud to provide some of the most affordable rooms in all of Seward. We are disappointed to hear about some small items that you ran out of. Truth is we have been a bit understaffed due in part to the pandemic so we apologize for any inconvenience regarding service; our staff is available via phone at all times. We will share your comments with our staff in hopes of improving the customer experience. Thanks for your feedback.

This place desperately needs everything. With the exception of the young lady who is the desk clerk and apparently maintenance person and otherwise jack of all trades, the place is close to terrible in every respect. The room is extremely small. The bathroom has a single tower rack And no place to hang anything in that room. That's no problem because there are only two towels, and no bathmat provided. The room smells like wet dog hair so whether they allow dogs or not they do not properly clean afterwards. there was one hand towel which you need to use as a bathmat if you choose to have a bathmat. There is no handicapped assist grab bar anywhere in the bathroom as well. there are virtually no electrical plugs available; One plug by the bed, good luck if you want to plug-in a CPAP or charging utilities. No plastic cups for water, no hairdryer. The building is extremely old and lack of maintenance shows. The parking lot is uninviting and overgrown with weeds. There is an extremely small television, it is viewable . There is a small refrigerator and microwave , a desk and a single chair. There is no closet, in fact there was a coat rack with five or six hooks. There are two dresser drawers and virtually no room to put anything else. From what I could tell the room was not entirely clean. There were crackers underneath the desk. There is no daily cleaning whatsoever. Fresh towels need to be specifically requested. The heat did not work and since this is Alaska that is a pretty big deal but they did provide and electric Pelonis heater. There is a single door key.

Ror anyone traveling to Seward who needs a hotel...please DO NOT book this place ( Murphys Alaskan Inn). The property looks nothing like the picture. I booked a few weeks before our arrival. Upon arriving, the property looked like it was abandoned!! High weeds around the building and in the cracks of the parking lot, and trash scattered around.. However, there were two rooms with the doors opened, but no one around. I tried calling the number on my email confirmation, but no answer and no machine. Continued calling the number 15 times...finally pulled up the website and tried a different number. A woman answered and when I told her we would not be staying, she became rude and told me that we would forfeit our 'deposit' - which turned out to be the nightly rate of $259. I didn't care, it was the appearance of the property and the rudeness of the clerk. Others might have a better experience, but I, obviously, would pay to NOT stay there. Regardless, I would never have paid $259 a night on the looks of the property alone. Had been warned of 'bedbugs' while traveling Alaska, using 'cheaper' hotel, and this one looked the part. No way was I staying there, and especially after the rude treatment I received from the clerk when I called to cancel. Apparently this establishment is feeling the effects of all these bad reviews because now they are 'offering' a much cheaper rate, AND FREE CANCELLATION until August 24, 2021. Wow. Just Wow. Want to redeem yourself??? Refund all the money you've taken from others in the past months, and clean up your property!!!!

Thanks for taking a moment to write us this review. We are very disappointed in reading your feedback. Customer service is extremely important to us and to hear you received anything but the best customer service is upsetting, to say the least. This is not at all the experience we want for our customers and for this we apologize. We proudly purvey clean & cheap rooms here in Seward and our nightly fee is not $259 that seems like the price of a 2-night stay which is currently our minimum stay; we apologize for any inconvenience. We will be sharing your comments here with our staff in hopes of improving the customer experience. We are disappointed to hear you wouldn't give us a chance but we understand and respect your thoughts and feeling, again we apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks again for your review.
