The rooms are a little dated, but the hotel is very fun. There is art everywhere, and the place has a real homey feel to it. The staff was friendly, we arrived late and they recommended the best places to eat. The hotel is located next to lots of restaurants and close to Kenai Fjords Tours where we had a cruise the next morning. We really enjoyed our stay there.
Quirky and quaint hotel, lots of character. There's a bunch of odd taxidermy and trinkets in the lobby. The keys are this weird old fashion thing that seems like it was the first step away from a traditional key but far from the tap system we have today. Some kind of futuristic 80's looking key. It's perfectly located right in Seward walking distance from the little strip and the water. The guy working the front desk was a character too and very sweet. Enjoyed our stay!
Those with sensitive allergies might want to avoid. I found the room musty and dusty and struggled with allergies (I stay in hotels 100+ nights a year and hardly ever have an issue). This is not helped with carpet throughout. My boyfriend, while not liking the musty smell, didn’t have an issue. It is conveniently located and the staff were courteous. Also, seems not many other options in town.
I really liked this hotel! It has a cute antique vibe. The hotel’s building is one of the oldest in town. The building is restored outside and inside. The hotel’s lobby is decorated very nicely. You can find a lot of different things there from stuffed wild animals to some antique sculptures and paintings. My room with a King-bed was also decorated very nicely. It felt super lovely staying there. The room was huge with the big long windows but at the same time the bathroom was kind of small. The room was generally clean, but there was some dust and garbage under the bed and also in the corners, so housekeeping definitely needs to do better job! I did not really like the bathroom amenities, they smelled cheap and not nice. Also I’ll complain about the very slow Wi-Fi. Sometimes I was not even able to watch YouTube videos. And the last negative thing I’ll mention is the front desk guy, who was not really friendly. He told me that he has been working at this hotel every single day for more then 10 years. Maybe that’s why he is just doing his job very strictly, and does not pay any attention to be friendly to guests? Also I had a hard time to get a late check-out from him, finally he gave me just 1 extra hour. In contrast, a lady who was working at night was very sweet. The hotel has a great location just in a few blocks from the water, a lot of restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and etc are across the street. The price I payed for my room per night $188 (including tax) is a little bit high. I believe it should be like $50-60 cheaper. But anyway, I liked this hotel a lot and I totally recommend it for staying in Seward.…
We stayed in the old part of the hotel. The room was tight, the bed softer than a marshmallow, the bathroom was teeny tiny (can’t emphasize this enough), no room service during our 2 night stay and no A/C. The location is nice, as is the ambiance of the hotel.
