Traveling Alaska on the Marine Highway with husband and brother. This B&B was a blessing! The atmosphere is very quaint and homey. The owners are personable, friendly and wonderful hosts. Room was very comfortable, cozy. We had everything we could need! Breakfast was wonderful with homemade biscuits and variety of breakfast foods. Coffee and tea always available along with afternoon...

My husband and I stayed at the White House for 4 nights and very much enjoyed our stay. Our room was upstairs and very quiet, facing the snow capped mountains. Take plenty to read, not much TV to watch. Breakfast was very good. We had different muffins each morning, cereal, fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs, toast, juice, and coffee. Cookies or...

Dear Mary_the_tourist, thanks so much for your kind review. It's always fun to have folks stay three or four days, because they then have the opportunity to walk in our shoes a little bit. It's a great place to live, but dealing with mediocre cable TV is one of the realities we came to terms with a while back. And...

Wonderful little place. I was solo traveling, got off the Alaska marine ferry and drove the few short blocks to the White House. No car is needed. Skagway was the first stop on a long trip for me, so I took the car on the ferry. The property is well-kept, tastefully decorated, and the continental breakfast was good. Rooms were...

Dear badgertrek, Happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. And it is true, with our little town being four blocks wide and 23 blocks long, virtually everything is walkable. And for those that don't get around that easy, the shuttle service offered by SMART (Skagway Municipal and Rural Transit) is very convenient and affordable. We refer all our...

The most clean room and facilities we ever met. Beautifully decorated and charming public areas. Very comfortable bed. At the far end of the main streets, but still in easy walking distance (espcially very close to the Skagway Brewing Company). We loved it, so we stayed an extra night.

Dear Ami, thank you for recognizing the extra effort we put into keeping our rooms and common areas "spotless." Our goal of clean and comfortable is a big priority, day in day out. And agreed, Skagway Brewing Company is close and excellent. Thanks for staying with us, John and Jan

We walked from the ferry dock with our carry-on luggage no problem. It's close enough to walk anywhere in Skagway, but away from the touristy crowds off the cruise ships. The hosts were very friendly and the staff all helpful. The room was very comfortable and I'd certainly recommend staying here!

A beautifully restored two-story period structure. Fine bathroom facilities, good continental breakfast, comfy rooms. Narrow stairs for folks staying on the second floor, but they should be OK for most folks. Washer and dryer available. Easy walking or driving access around town.

Thank you for your glowing review. We do make a point during reservations to point out that there is no elevator and the confirmation reaffirms that, as well as the 1902 origin of the house. Hopefully, the staircase isn't a surprise to anyone. The washer and dryer are available for a fee, during the early evening hours. It takes us...

The White House is likely one of the best places to stay in Skagway. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and come with a fridge. The 1960s decor in the rooms may not be to everyone's taste. Breakfast has a range of options, so you certainly won't go hungry. The White House is situated close enough for easy walking access to...

Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your experience. Certainly the 1960s decor may not be to everyone's liking. If that's the case, perhaps the next room would be better suited, as there is no theme to our room decor whatsoever, other than eclectic. Furnishings range from antiques handed down from our grandparents, to the Juneau furniture store,...

At the White House is a large, gracious, historic home just close enough to the ferry to be walkable with (carry-on size) luggage and just far enough from the hustle and bustle of "downtown" Skagway to be a quiet haven from the daily hordes of cruise ship passengers. One step inside the door and you succumb to the charm of...

Happy to share our secret for that good nights' sleep - Sealy Posturepedic Mattresses. And we flip and rotate them regularly and sleep on one ourselves. Thank you Sealy. Thank YOU for all your kind words and detailed description. It is a fine line to walk, trying to determine whether folks are wanting privacy or fellowship. Sometimes I miss this...

An old but very well maintained charming b&b. Breakfast was good, rooms were well done. Skagway is a small town and we could walk to all the sites in town. Although we didn't use it the city has a very good local transport van.

Old indeed. The house was originally built as a private residence in 1902. Sometime in the 20s the second story was added and it has been operating in a boarding house capacity in some manner of fashion or another since then. All the rooms are configured differently, primarily due to the contours of the house. It's got character. And yes,...

We only stayed one night at the White House, but it was a great one. It's a lovely place with clean and really cute rooms. Very comfortable and well appointed.
