We booked a two-day stay at Chilkoot Trail Outpost on an impulse based on a strong recommendation from friends who live in Whitehorse, Yukon. It was one of the best decisions we made during our10-day vacation. Cathy and Fred took care of everything including booking...More
What a delight to discover with the help of tripadvisor.com this quiet and spectacular setting near the somewhat crowded and hectic scene of Skagway. Highly recommended for the scenic 8-9 mile drive from Skagway and the fascinating history of nearby (2-3 miles) Chilkoot trailhead and...More
We had the most wonderful experience visiting last week end, my grand daughters and I.

Hi there, we stayed in Whitehorse in the Yukon and drove down to Skagway and stayed overnight at the awesome Chilkoot Outpost Trail. Skagway town centre is very commercial and geared up to tourists who mainly come from the big cruise ships. Juneau is an island so it's not possible to drive to Chilkoot (other than putting the car on a big ferry.) We caught the (small passenger) ferry to Juneau & saw moose on the shore, 11 humpback whales, seals and sea lions, it was amazing, strongly recommend you take a ferry trip. We were only in Juneau for the day but went to see the glacier which is worth a trip, also a chance to see bears at the glacier too, although we didn't see any. Have a great trip!
