The Edgewater Hotel, nestled on the waterfront, is often lauded for its scenic location and charming, music-themed atmosphere. While many guests appreciate the clean rooms with stunning views and unique amenities like record players and cozy fireplaces, others call attention to the disruptive noises from the surrounding environment.
The staff's warm service is a highlight, though experiences can vary. Critics point to the outdated decor and question the hotel's overall value, citing high prices and additional fees.

Hotel's Favourite
Loved my stay at the Edgewater Inn. The view of Beautiful Elliott Bay, the waterfront, and the Seattle city skyline was breathtaking! No where else can you stay in a hotel built right over the water. I lived in Seattle from 1975 until 2001 at which time I moved to Utah. I knew about the Edgewater Inn but had never been there or stayed there. Upon my return this December 2024 I wanted to have an experience. Even though the price seemed high to me, I knew it would be worth it because of the unique history and location. My brother joined me and after check in we visited the music room and picked out a record player and some classic records, What a cool perk! We threw the window open in the room and took in the view! We don’t have such a view in Utah! I missed the Seattle experience. We listened to the sounds of the city, the water and the seagulls while playing a little Journey and some other vintage music. That was cool! We enjoyed the fireplace and never even turned on the television. It was a wonderful stay. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Everything was very clean and displayed beautifully. The front desk, women were so accommodating and kind and the Inn was decorated beautifully for Christmas. I could’ve stayed somewhere else for a cheaper price, but I would never have had such a fantastic experience. I highly recommend taking time to explore the Inn while you are there. Seeing the photos from famous visitors past was a neat touch. This was a quick trip, but I hope to come back and stay another time when the weather is warmer and actually get a balcony with seating. Such a memorable stay. Knowing the history of the Inn by watching the videos and reading helped me appreciate the whole experience. It’s pricey for someone on a budget like me- but save up and go with the whole experience in mind. If you sit in your room with the TV on and never take in the views- you’ll be disappointed. I enjoyed every minute of my stay. Loved being in bed with the window open and feeling the breeze and hearing all the sounds. It was magical for me. You have to make an effort to take it all in. Many Thanks to the Edgewater Inn and staff for allowing me a unique experience I will never forget.

This hotel offers a truly enchanting experience, with a unique setting right over the water that provides stunning views of Seattle's landscape and the serene waters below. The staff were exceptional, attending to every detail with warmth and attentiveness, which made the stay feel truly special. The rooms are fantastic, and I highly recommend upgrading to a water-view room—you'll feel like you're floating right on the water. The cozy fireplace in the room and the option to borrow a record player with vinyls add a special touch to the experience.
The beds were incredibly comfortable, and housekeeping kept everything spotless. The restaurant serves excellent food, though it can be a bit pricey. The hotel’s location is ideal, just a short walk from Pike Place Market and numerous restaurants and bars, making it convenient to explore. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and would love to return with my family!

We booked this hotel as it is advertised as the only Seattle hotel on the water’s edge and due to its historic musical connections. It had good reviews and seemed to have a good restaurant and bar area. We wanted to see a bit of Seattle before we continued on to our holiday in Hawaii and the location seemed central. However, I feel we had a mixed experience at this hotel.
Firstly, after a long flight we arrived and, although there seemed to be plenty of valet people outside, no one was there to offer us orientation or even really any help with luggage or checking in.
The person at the check in desk was perfunctory, for want of a better word, again no help offered with our cases and a wave in the general direction of the lifts.
Our very clean room was well equipped with lodge type furnishings, a fire, a comfortable bed and quality toiletries, but it was situated over the entrance to the hotel, over the bin store and delivery area. This meant it was somewhat noisy and not particularly attractive, although I appreciate a room upgrade with a water view was an option.
Our restaurant experience was marred by being seated next to a very large and noisy party, which the staff acknowledged was loud but offered us no alternative seating. They said they were fully booked but didn’t seem inclined to discuss any solution to the issue.
We did encounter some helpful members of staff at the bar and during breakfast, and the musicians who performed were very good and helped create a great ambiance in the bar area, but not enough to feel I would rush to return here.
The location was good for visiting the Space Needle and Pike Place market, both within easy walking distance, but felt a little bit isolated being next to the cruise terminal.
Overall, we enjoyed exploring but this wouldn’t be our first choice if we ever return to Seattle.

The staff were very friendly, it is in a good location, and it is obviously on the water, they are really depending on those things. The room costs are incredibly high for what I, personally, received. Our room was no larger than that of a cruise ship, despite the rooms of other people who I know paid the same cost being significantly larger. Two of us could not even walk past each other in the room, trying to iron our outfits took up 95% of the available space.
When we entered the room there were several dead flies on the bed and chairs as well.
Also, despite the amount of staff going up and down the hallways, there were consistently trash and dirty dishes outside of the room doors.
I’m not one to create problems, and considering I was at the hotel for a family event that was my focus, but taking into account how much the rooms cost my expectations were high and they were not met.

We got to the hotel in the wee hours of the morning. Check in was easy and our room had a warm, welcoming fire going in the fireplace. After getting up and heading out to brunch and do a little exploring, we came back to a room where the bathroom had been picked up, bed made and the room refreshed - that doesn’t happen at most hotels these days unless you specifically request it and we were so pleased it was done without having to ask. Overall a really good experience for our very quick weekend trip. Great staff, comfortable room and our view from the balcony was awesome!

Rather than traveling from out of town to board an 8 a.m. departure to Victoria, B.C., we stayed at the Edgewater the previous night. Although expensive, the welcoming, helpful staff and the location provided a stress-free, enjoyable transition to the Clipper on the adjoining pier. Parking, discounted with Clipper validation, is just across the street. Although crowded with visitors and traffic conjestion the waterfront area is well maintained for visitor safety, and the Edgewater is within walking distance of waterfront attractions.

The front desk and valet team were fantastic which was nice since we had multiple delays trying to cruise on Norwegian. Do yourself a favor and forget about “luxury” bedding and a quality sleep. The train goes by at all hours of the day and night, the luxury bedding is a load of crap the down blanket is a thin yellow tinted blanket covered by sheets with holes in them.
Timothy and Sean were both as helpful as a stack of rocks. Apparently they are both managers, but they seem to be unaware they work in the hospitality industry. For starters Timothy refused to help me with a few reservation questions and insisted on sending me to his in house reservation line because he was the only person working the desk that day however it seems he needs some training on how to actually transfer phone calls since he hung up on me, when I called back there was a different lady that answered the call and was able to answer my reservation questions as well as she provided discount cards for drinks in the restaurant upon our check in.
I called on a Sunday morning and attempted to speak with management but it appears the main front office manager doesn’t work on the weekends, and it is apparent he doesn’t work at all since I’m still waiting on Shawn’s call back regarding a safety issue I had regarding the window in my waterside room.
If you are traveling with kids make sure you know the hotel doesn’t have air conditioning and that none of the windows have screens on them along with no signs noting this.
It is clear by reading other reviews that management either doesn’t pay attention to the reviews or doesn’t care, but they need to update the room descriptions since the luxury bedding complaint has been an ongoing trend. I will also say there is no way the bed is a king it seems more like a queen. Other than going to the lobby to sit on a couch you will either have to sit on the bed or in one of the two incredibly uncomfortable chairs that look like they have seen better days. The bar foot stool takes up a ton of space and if you have more than one suitcase you can’t move around the room.
I would recommend that you think twice before booking especially since there are safety concerns that a front office manager should care enough about, but he won’t call you back.
I hope the general manager takes notice and acts on the concerns above.

Great hotel. It's a city hotel, and the room sizes are a bit small as a result but very much the norm compared to other city hotels I've stayed in. The rooms are laid out quite efficiently so there's plenty of space for luggage storage, and they have everything you need for a stay. There are also multiple communal work areas throughout the hotel which is a great feature! Overall amenities were great, fitness room has 2 Peloton bikes, 2 treads and a rower as well as free weights and a weight lifting rack. The staff was super friendly and hospitable, and we had a wonderful stay!

This place smells musty the moment you step into the “lobby”. Check-in is quick and courteous .
Very quickly you are shocked into the realization that this place has stayed stuck in the 60’s, but the world kept turning. It relies on its storied past….a number of celebrities have rested their heads here in a bygone era……not today……they never would.
The only plus is the location smack dab on the water with a cruise-ship-kinda-feel if you look out over the water or have water view room.
But beware…… if you chose a “ city view “ you will receive an “ over the cargo train railway tracks view” with added sound effects every time the rail crossing gates close.
And all this for a kings ransom.
The room itself, is horrid. Tiny and poorly appointed. Old, with a high “ yuck-factor”…… on checking in our clean drinking glasses had someone else’s lip marks embossed on them, and our toilet seat had someone else’s pubic hair on the seat rim.
The room is so small there are no bedside tables and the bed is squished up against the wall on one side with six inches to spare so you can squeeze your way out.
And if you spend the day walking around the city and hope to return to a clean room…… forget it. “ we have until 5 to do your room up” says the front desk. Maybe in their world they do , but not in mine. If you pay top dollar there should be some quality associated with it.
Look……if you’re into paying to see 3 guitars hanging on a wall along with some LPs and unsigned portraits of musicians and actors and then squeeze yourself into a tiny grungy room and hear trains rumbling by all day, you’ve found your dream hotel. If not……don’t stay here…..visit and have a drink at the bar…..but don’t sleep here. There are so many beautiful hotels in this city and this isn’t one of them.

Bed and linens were great, I didn’t hear any other guests even walking through the halls, beautiful views and waterfront room is great to hang out in between adventures. Staff were all kind, helpful and cheerful. Shower was great too-good water pressure and rain shower was very relaxing. Highly recommend their room service as well, much larger portions than expected with a good selection at breakfast.
