Great stay. Note: room 100 is the eastern most room, closest to the street/train tracks, cruise ship buildings/dock. Higher numbers (130+) are further west on the pier with better views of water, less road noise and view obstruction. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs as the freight trains, commuter trains, rail crossing alarms, freighter ship horns and balcony seagulls are loud 24/7. This is part of the exciting experience staying here. Service was excellent, hotel was comfortable and being out on the water was an amazing experience. View of downtown and Mt Ranier is unlike any else.

Hotel's Favourite
We did splurge a bit on this hotel since it is the only overwater hotel in Seattle with a rich history. The rooms were great but what really made this memorable was when we got done at the Space Needle after sunset and came down to the restaurant. They sat us in a cozy leather couch with coffee table in front of the fireplace. We could see through the beautiful glass doors to the water and right in our view was the sliver of the moon! Between the fire, the moon and the sky colors and our yummy food, we could not ask for a better way to end the day!

The good, bad, and ugly… in consideration of your billfold. Much like the iconic Clint Eastwood film I’ll start with the ugly, then the bad, and finally the good. When you stay at the Edgewater expect the ugly in the form of taxes and fees prevalent. No worries cinephiles, or soon to be guests, as I’ve got the breakdown from my invoice on a lovely April 2024 weekend. Seattle Lodging Sales Tax $10.21 Seattle Convention & Trade Center Tax $32.48 WA State Sales Tax $30.16 Seattle Tourism Assessment Fee $10.67 Guest Amenities Fee $31.00 Overnight Parking Transient $60.00 Sales Tax $6.21 City of Seattle Parking Tax $8.70 Totaling $189.43 per night. That’s almost $400 in taxes and fees paid for just two nights. WOW! When you get your invoice, you may just want to rebook a balcony room to jump off of it. Now the bad. We’ll start with the weekend cruise ship pulling up outside your window and balcony Saturday morning to off load and upload 3000-5000 people. If you thought that you’d leisurely stroll down to Pike Place in the morning forget it. There’s a seafaring group of tourists to prove to you otherwise. Although The Edgewater gets a lot of business from people who stay the night before boarding it’s not too much fun for the rest of us. The low point in direct customer service is at the front desk. The invoice had to be requested multiple times (not really wanting to share???), when I returned free drink tickets my partner and I were not offered a raincheck and we were given a snooty thanks, and if you’re on the queer spectrum, even if they see your name, your driver’s license name matching, the gender marker on your license, and clearly communicating presentation expect them to misgender you (definitely a Seattle no-no). Now for the good. The restaurant and bar staff are friendly and courteous. The valet and door staff are funny and good natured. The housekeeping staff always say hello and are kind. The views are amazing, and the balcony is a breath of fresh air, literally. You can see the mountains, ferries, the eye, and sunsets. A woodsy décor makes one feel at home and a part of the natural beauty of the Emerald City. Pike’s place if just a jaunt away. Bonus for the little bear footstool and stuffed bear on the bed. Bonus Hints Don’t miss eating breakfast and dinner at the Edgewater as it’s a lovely service and the food is wonderful. Make a reservation and sit by the window looking right out onto the water. Check out a record player, some records, and an acoustic guitar at the front desk when you arrive. Listen to some Amy Winehouse and Hendrix and strum the chords to “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles (Quick fact, the Beatles once stayed at the Edgewater). Watch the sunset with your loved one. That’s all. The truth is out and now you get to decide. Is it worth the good to put up with the bad and ugly. We’ll see you down the trail.

The Edgewater ist perfectly located if you arrive via ferry and want to explore downtown amd the vicinity. The Junior Suite with harbour view was cozy. The restaurant offers high quality food. The service is very friendly and competent.

This hotel is clean, service is friendly and great location for easy walking to attractions. The price is on the expensive side and hotel does have a resort fee, with little amenities offered, so be aware. Parking is also on the expensive side and is only valet.

Older hotels should be able to provide acceptable internet download speeds. 4th floor over water room speeds were between 0.8 and 1.7. I mentioned it on checkout and was told they were looking into the matter.

The Edgewater was a delightful stay! Staff was friendly, informative, helpful - everyone we interacted with. Our room was small but comfortable. We enjoyed the food, the view, the location! The valet staff was wonderful when we had family visit and when we were departing and needed a cab. We came from another hotel in the area and had left due to room issues and terrible service. Check-in at the Edgewater was like a warm hug!

Room had damaged, dirty and stained bedding (tears/small holes, hair, and small brown, red and yellow patches and marks all over sheets, mattress and pillows); Cobwebs hanging from ceiling and Smelled very musty and unclean. We used our travel pillows/blankets just to get sleep (arrived very late at night from the East coast). No mattress protector on bed was horrifying as stains were clearly present on mattress. (However, Bathroom was clean) Given that this is an accessible room, it is absolutely necessary to have mattress covers for hygienic purposes- and there was a large patch on the mattress itself as if someone had had an accident 😖. Incredibly disappointed- I feel like we wasted our money and had such high hopes for our brief stay at this property. The view is beautiful but the smell permeating the building is very reminiscent of must and mothballs, which was also difficult to tolerate. We changed our flights to leave as soon as possible in the early hours of the morning because we didn’t want to sleep on the bed longer than necessary. Very unfortunate. I hate even writing such a negative review, but if I had known it would be like that, we would not have booked this hotel.

I love this place. I grew up in Seattle. It’s doesn’t get better. If you are on the fence about where to stay this is it. Don’t question me. The views, the noise proof rooms, the guitar and record rentals, the comfy beds and fireplaces! Enough said. The staff all Rock! I have been to 40 countries and this place is top notch.
