The Hilton Motif Seattle boasts a prime location that garners praise from numerous travelers for its proximity to local attractions and dining. Guests are divided on service; while some commend the friendly staff, others have faced challenges with room readiness. The hotel's amenities, including a variety of dining options and clean rooms, are generally appreciated, though the early closure of the rooftop bar and overpriced items have not gone unnoticed. Despite the stylish ambiance and spacious rooms, the value proposition is questioned by many travelers due to perceived high costs and additional fees. Concerns over occasional cleanliness issues also temper the overall positive impressions.

Stayed for one night with family to sightsee around downtown Seattle. Excellent location of hotel in terms of easy on and off the highway as well as a few short blocks away from Pike Place Market. It’s also only two blocks from the monorail. Reception staff were very friendly and made great restaurant recommendations. In the evenings, there is free beer and wine and during the day flavoured water and local apples. Stayed in room with two queen beds and city view and it was very spacious. Never had so much space before! Alexa was in room and we had fun ordering items to the room with it and listening to music. Alexa even turns the TV on and off! Because of its excellent location and unique amenities, we would definitely stay here again.

We spent four nights here in late June/early July in a waterfront king room. The layout of the room was nice because it had a separate sitting area with a full sofa. The bed was comfortable and the front desk staff was very friendly and professional.

Unfortunately, due to COVID, no daily housekeeping was offered. There were only two bath towels in the room, so we had to order additional towels for our stay. They could start off with more towels in the room. Also, the soap dispensers in the shower had not been filled and one was completely empty when we checked in. In addition, there were hairs in the shower and it obviously had not been cleaned well.

It was sunny and in the 80s on the days we stayed and the AC struggled to keep the room cool, especially in the afternoons when the sun shined in. The temperatures would rise to near 80 each afternoon unless we kept the drapes fully closed. Even then, temperatures rose to 76 or 77 each afternoon.

Lighting in the room needs to be improved. The lights near the bed gave off a pleasant warm light and could be dimmed but the glass fixtures around them were filthy. In other parts of the room, there were only fixtures with bright white LEDs that gave off an institutional feel.

Also, the bathrooms are not very private. There is a sliding barn-style door that does not lock and that has a 1 to 2-inch gap between the door and the bathroom door frame. People can see into the shower and someone sitting on the toilet. An example of style over function.

We ate at their restaurant, Frolik, for dinner one night. The dinner menu was extremely limited with only a few entrees to choose from. While the food and drinks we had tasted very good, prices were high, especially for mixed drinks, many of which were around $17 or $18.

The location is conveniently just a few blocks from the Pike Place Market. There are a lot of homeless people on nearby Pike Street, many of which appeared to be schizophrenic.

The hotel itself just did not live up to a 4-star Hyatt hotel.

Stay Report - 4/2 to 4/3

Location: Definitely a selling point.  It's on 5th Avenue and Pike which makes it an easy walk down to Pike Place but also to the Seattle Monorail or a couple of the Link Light Rail Stations.  It was also no trouble getting an Uber from here Friday night or Saturday morning.  Be advised that the area around the hotel is a bit more seedy than it used to be with a lot of homeless people wandering about it but it doesn't feel unsafe.

Hotel: The hotel is not much to look at from the outside but it's very nice inside.  The lobby looks great and they have a bar and restaurant on the 5th floor which are currently doing drinks and dinner.  Do note breakfast is grab and go only and there is no room service.  The common areas of the hotel are equally nice and the elevators require key cards which is a good thing.

Check In: A friendly agent thanked me for being Discoverist and offered me a 2 PM check out.

Room: I had paid extra for a king over a queen and I had a nice room on the corner of the 20th floor with a city view.  The layout is a bit Hyatt Place like in that there's a separate living room area from the bedroom area.  Wifi was good and soundproofing isn't an issue but I will note the bathroom is absolutely tiny.

Overall it's a good hotel though be aware there's a scam $22 Urban Destination Fee.  With many amenities out of action it's even more of a scam than these scams usually are.  I would have given the hotel 4/5 if it wasn't for this fee.

Took a quick trip with my mom and was very impressed with this property especially during COVID times. There is contactless check-in and hand sanitizer everywhere throughout the hotel. The staff was extremely nice, friendly, and helpful with anything and everything we needed. There were social distancing signs everywhere including markers on the floor and in the elevators, where they only allowed 2 people in at once. The room was very nice, and we even utilized Alexa to request toiletries without having to touch the phone. Thank you Motif! We will be back!

The Motif was a great home base for exploring downtown Seattle. It is located only a few minutes walk to pikes place market and the water front, and a 10 dollar lyft to just about any other attraction. The hotel is very clean and the staff was very accommodating. I paid for a water view room and got the best view possible on the 19th floor, with a view of the great wheel and the water. Beds were comfortable enough. Water pressure was a little lacking but nothing to truly complain about. The rooms have Alexa which was awesome. Very easy to just ask alexa to connect you with the front desk for anything you needed. Again, the hotel is a great location for the market and waterfront, so much so that all you have to do is walk out of the front doors of the hotel, turn right and then its a straight shot down Union street directly to the market (about a 10 minute walk). The weather for us (at the end of July) was actually pretty hot at 85 degrees every day and high humidity. At night it was pleasant but still a little warm. We were there for a week and contrary to popular belief, it was completely sunny and beautiful every day.

The only negatives I can report are NOT hotel related. While I used to live in Seattle I understood where we were going but for anyone who has never been, here are a few tips.

First, everything closes downtown starting at like 6pm and at the latest 9, including most restaurants and certainly the attractions. Be prepared for downtown Seattle to be extremely expensive for just about anything you buy. Food prices are ridiculous. For example on Friday night we got back to the hotel at 930 after some sightseeing and nothing was open for delivery or take out. We had to use uber eats and even then nothing besides McDonalds was open. So I bit the bullet and ordered it, which ended up being almost 65 dollars for two adults and two kids.

The homeless population has gotten much better in recent months, however there are still a good amount of people on the streets especially near the bus stop on Union street. That said, nobody approached us and everyone kept to themselves. I felt safe with my family even at night walking to the hotel, however that said if you don't want to see homeless people and in some cases drug use, I recommend just taking an uber or lyft to get around because you will ABSULYUTLY see both of those things downtown.

Overall, I would go back a million times as Seattle is an amazing city.

Motif Seattle was beautiful, had great accommodations, and was reasonably priced for its incredible location (walking distance from multiple major downtown tech offices!). I docked one star because it was incredibly hard to get in contact with any staff.

When I wanted to request a toothbrush immediately after checking in, the provided hotel phone rang endlessly with no response. After going downstairs, the front desk apologized that that was the responsibility of housekeeping but housekeeping had already left the premises for the day. OK, fair enough.

But then when I thought I'd lost an item in the hotel right after checking out, I called the provided staff number, where they said they didn't handle lost-and-found and please email a specific person who did. I emailed them. They never responded. I had to go back to Motif Seattle the next morning to ask if they'd seen my item. Thank goodness I was still in town - many people would've left already.

Overall, Motif Seattle was a great experience with beautiful, clean accommodations, an excellent location, great view of Seattle, and luxury aesthetic. It was just a huge hassle to track down *any* customer service.

The rooms were filthy. After reaching out over email and then again in person were we comped $100, while no effort itself was made to clean the room. I don't care about the cost of the hotel as it was in a great location, however walking into a room will take the wind out of anyone's sails.

This hotel was very comfortable and in great, centralized location to all major attractions in the Seattle city center.
Positives: friendly staff, fresh watch at the front door for when you come back from your excursions, may attractions/restaurants/shopping witching a short walk away, complementary 2 wine or beer drink coupon at their restaurant upon check-in, security guard in hotel lobby
Negatives: $20/day destination fee & $50/day parking fee & $1.74/day state/local tax & $1.40/day occupancy tax so be prepared to pay extra on top of the online booking company’s taxes and fees, underground parking is a little tight and take some maneuvering to park/back out a larger car (typical in most large cities).
Overall, this was a great hotel to stay in while in Seattle due to its location and is recommended.

The hotel's location is really convenient, very near to every nice restaurants, cafes, shopping malls and stores. There's a lot of transportation around (also it's very flat if you don't wanna walk up the hill unlike other hotels).

Other than that, my room was very cold during this winter. I tried to turn the heater on but it was just way too cold for a 78F degrees and it fees like 60F degrees. I didn't order in their restaurant because as we know, most hotels have ridiculous expensive food but just the same quality as any ordinary food. So I ordered through grubhub/ubereats.

Overall, the room is clean but the lighting is too dark could've been better. The toilet flushes too loud and could hear other room's flush.

The price is affordable, at-least to what I booked it's $175/night.

Hotel location is excellent. You are in the middle of downtown in close proximity to Pikes Market, great shopping, restaurants and bars. Very walkable to subway, light rail and bus line. Uber and Lyft drivers are always less than 3 minutes away. The hotel staff is friendly and the hotel is clean, modern, safe and upscale. Housekeeping appears to be understaffed, there is no daily room anything without a request. Requests are not immediately fulfilled. So if you want towels changed, trash emptied, k-cup coffee restocked, vacuuming, beds made or anything it must be requested several hours in advance. You can request it via text or Alexa which is nice, but the reply and response is not fast. We stayed a week and learned to request whatever was needed in the morning and it was usually taken care of when we returned in the evening. The door hangers requesting the room to be made up are not noticed or are possibly ignored. However, the text method worked very well and texts were always confirmed with a reply text letting you know you are at least on their “To Do List”. Our room was spacious, mostly modern and clean. The hotel was usually quiet, except for a little noise from the rooftop bar which was below us on the 5th floor (low rooftop). We were on the 12th floor, but our room looked down on the rooftop patio. It quieted down by 11 so no big deal for us, but if you like to go to bed early be sure you are not above the bar area. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. COVID has changed to daily room servicing expectations, if you don’t adapt to this change you may be disappointed. If you travel a lot and are used to this new normal, you will likely find this hotel better than most.

You can have the Motif arrange for a town car to take you at a cost of $40.00. A taxi is $30.00. Alternatively you can take the light rail (VERY close to the hotel and easy to get to) at a cost of less than $5.00. I don't "do" Uber or Lyft so can't help you there!
