Cute motel in historic Boulder City. Our King bed room was huge, clean and comfortable. The woman who checked us in was lovely. There is ample parking. Quiet and peaceful stay. Several restaurants are within walking distance and it’s a short drive to Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. This place feels like a classic 60’s motel. Very nice experience.

The Sands is a small no frills hotel. My room was very small and lacked a comfortable chair. The air conditioner was very loud and had trouble maintaining a consistent temperature. But the biggest problem was the noise. The walls are very thin and the couple next door kept me awake talking until 12:30 am. I tried using the AC to drown out the noise but, as mentioned, it was very noisy itself. On the bright side the owner was very friendly and the hotel was relatively close to Hoover Dam. I can live without amenities, but as a quiet hotel is important to me I probably wouldn't stay there again.

This place initially left a positive impression with its friendly and welcoming staff. However, my experience took a turn when I decided to switch from the deluxe family room to a single queen room for the next night. After booking online, I was surprised to receive a knock on my door within minutes. The property manager informed both me and my mom that it would be more convenient for the staff if we stayed in our current room to avoid housekeeping cleaning another room. She also mentioned that we would need to pay the pet fee, as we had the previous night. My mother went to the front desk to pay the pet fee, but to our dismay, the property manager requested an additional payment due to her decision to keep us in the family deluxe room. It was frustrating because we wanted to switch rooms, yet she refused to accommodate our request. She insisted on charging us an extra $41 for her decision. When my mom voiced her objections, the property manager contacted the owner, who instructed her to charge us a $30 pet fee instead. Confused, my mom asked why the pet fee had increased by $20 compared to the previous night. The property manager explained that it was because we had not booked directly with her. While the property manager herself seemed pleasant, it is disheartening to see her working for someone who takes advantage of guests in this manner. We feel very taken advantage of.

Our friends and us booked 2 rooms ( king beds), one incl a pet for this past Saturday nite. We did this over the phone as it appears that is where you get the best pricing. This motel is in the "older" part of town. It is close to 2 wonderful restaurants one a great BBQ for dinner and the other an excellent choice for breakfast. Now the motel is an older type but in amazing condition (probably been remodeled recently). The room we had was very large and had the cutest little fridge (red with rounded corners like Mom had in the 1960's). The bed was good size and very comfy. The sink was just outside the bathroom. The bath itself was a bit tight but the shower had great pressure. We will go back again and stay there.

I was driving north from Mexico back to Eastern Washington and I needed a place to stay for the night. I was too tired for Vegas and everything involved with Vegas. I have driven through Boulder City countless times but never stopped. This little motel was so wonderful and nice and simple. The room was like a small studio apartment recently renovated. I didn’t want to leave! Highly recommend.

I love finding unique places to stay and The Sands Motel was the perfect balance of authentic retro and modern comfort. Only about 30 minutes from Las Vegas but a world away from the mayhem of neon and crowds. I loved opening the window in the shower to breath in cold fresh air while feeling the hot water. This is an authentic motor lodge where you can park in front of your room.

We spent 2 nights here. Our first night, the people in the room on one side were loud until at least 11 on, then around 2 am they went outside to get something from their car and the alarm went off. Took them a long time to turn it off. Then one of them left in the car around 3. Then the folks on the other side started being sick in the bathroom around 3 am (that's what it sounded like) and finally got up and left around 4 am. Tonight, we noticed one couple was cooking dinner just outside their door (camp stove maybe, we could smell their dinner) and as we returned from dinner, the guy in unit #1 was blasting rap music across the parking lot. This motel has really charming rooms and is very clean, but if you want decent sleep, forget it. The clientele is sketchy at best! If you decide to stay here, have good earplugs and double-lock the door.

This was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at in my life. There was a used condom under the bed, urine on the toilet seat, pubic hairs in the bed, and roaches. In addition it reeked of smoke and when I told management they refused to give me a refund. I ended up speaking with a Boulder City local and they told me that this hotel has a reputation for this. They had family stay here and they had a similar experience. I don’t usually leave reviews but wanted to spare others from this disgusting place!!!!
