La Maison sur la Sorgue - Esprit de France, a marvelous centrally located lovingly restored Provence hotel, Ideal for exploring the town or local area. The owners Marie-Claude and Frédéric were outstanding hosts, starting with a very warm welcome. We stayed just a week ago for a few nights. With the virus being on our minds we can assure everyone of the cleanliness of the hotel, our room was spotless, a charming person diligently cleaned and disinfected the room daily. I believe there are five large bedrooms all with different, unusual and interesting decoration, our room had pictures from Hans Silvester on the wall, a four poster bed, stand alone bath tub, and some very attractive and fun lighting, It seems anything movable in the hotel can be purchased. Breakfast was great fun, Frédéric served us a breakfast that changed subtly daily, breads, cheese, tart, fruit and eggs any style. a very local breakfast, and every evening we were served tea in our room. Thoroughly recommend this beautiful hotel.( The owners also own an attached antiques shop from where I guess the internal furnishing come from)

What a beautiful surprise to arrive at La Maison sur la Sorgue to enjoy the outstanding hospitality of fredrick and surround ourselves with the beauty and charm of this wonderful hotel. Having worked for the Disney organization for many years, I know the importance of attention to detail, and this lovely establishment creates it at every return. You are surrounded by beautiful, art, and antiques, the rooms are comfortable with special touches everywhere. The outdoor patio with a garden swimming pool is the perfect Zen respite after a busy day. We were also served a lovely continental breakfast with the extra touch of sugar cubes shaped like hearts! We certainly left part of our heart here, and will gladly return whenever the opportunity arises! I

We had a Mum and Daughter trip to Provence and our two nights here were the highlight. This is a special place where attention to detail starts with the welcome from Frederic (he literally talked us in as we approached the town so we could navigate market day). The room, the breakfast (amazing), the clever little pool that you can swim in against the current machine (and it turns into a decking at night) were all outstanding. The location is perfect and stepping into this cool, quiet space after a hot and busy walk around town is the best feeling. But it’s the way every corner tells a story with art and objects from their travels, mixing old with new, that will be most memorable. Thank you La Maison. There are no doubt many wonderful places in Provence. This has to be one of the gems.

For our Christmas holidays this year, we took a trip to France and stayed in a variety of hotels, 7 in total. As we moved from hotel to hotel, there were certain things we focused on the most so I decided to rate them at each hotel. For Maison sur la Sorgue:
Bathroom (weather had a shower) – our room only had a bathtub with a spout that flew everywhere. It was a huge mess to bathe. Lobby – The hotel (really more like a bed and breakfast) is housed in an old villa so the building is beautiful. Location in the city or town – Great location right in the heart of town, driving there is not for the faint of heart though because the streets are so narrow n the area where the hotel is located. Size of room – Decent Breakfast – Good Elevator (was there one?) – No Ambiance - We loved the old villa feel but the hotel is truly more like an American bed and breakfast concept. There are 5 rooms, and I only ever saw Frederick, the owner, working as well as one housekeeper. Frederick was so nice, but there are weird rules like no food in the rooms (I have never stayed at any hotel that does not allow food in the rooms. Ever.) No mini-fridges etc. It is not your usually hotel experience. Lighting- there was hardly any lighting at all. Night in the room was very difficult.
This town was one of my favorite stops and we just loved it. But after 6 more hotels, this one definitely did not live up to the rest of the places we stayed.

My husband and I visited La Maison Sur La Sorgue recently and had mixed feelings about our stay. First of all, the hotel is beautiful with artifacts throughout the property, and special touches which make the hotel unique.
The owner was an outstanding host throughout our stay. And his store next to the hotel offers many special items from around the world to buy. In addition, He upgraded our room, which overlooked the main square.
The room(suite) was very spacious and also featured unique artifacts that made our stay enjoyable. But to get to the room, there were lots of stairs. And the bathroom was not functional as it was a challenge not to spray water all over the entire room, when attempting to use the hand held shower hose.
But the location made it easy to walk everywhere.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this unique boutique hotel. From the very beginning, Frederic greeted me on the phone with warmth and familiarity, then guided us through the back roads of the town to the front door of this remarkable jewel of a place; right in the heart of everything, yet with a unique blend of private sanctuary, artist haven, and upsc mansion, making it a blend of the ancient in the contemporary. As art collectors, who have also curated and magnificent gallery and shop, the interior is tastefully appointed with art and sculpture from all corners of the world , and then ambience extends to the peaceful back patio, complete with a small pool bordered with bamboo and meditating Buddhas. A wonderful place to unwind at the end of a hot summer day at the market. Frederic is a magnificent host, and every morning welcomed us with a full breakfast, and plenty of suggestions for how to fill our days enjoying the many offerings of the area. Do yourself a favor and book a room at this magnificent boutique hotel.

This is a town house 'Maison' that has been wonderfully restored with great taste and wit by its current owners who also run a terrific gallery alongside it. Upon entering through the unassuming main door, nothing is as you would expect, in a very good way. The individual suites are amazing as is the breakfast provided each morning by Frederic, who's charm and helpfulness was the icing on the cake.
My one caveat is that it's difficult to get to through the maze of tiny streets, once you arrive on 'L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue' (Google maps would share my opinion about this).

I cannot say enough about this gem of a hotel and Frédéric, where we had a lovely stay in L’Isle Sur la Sorgue. We felt so taken care of the whole time! From the glasses of delicious rosé to the exquisite breakfast to a pot of chamomile tea waiting for us when we returned from a dinner in Gordes. It felt like a little guest house with a sophisticated air. Frédéric even jumped into our car when we arrived to help us navigate to the hotel, then parked our car for us too! The location is perfect! We walked out our door directly into the Sunday market, and everything else is walking distance including the famous antique fair. You’re so close to everything that you might have to close the windows at night due to revealers at the wine bar down the street, but the sound is immediately blocked and I assure you you will have an excellent sleep here. The decor is beautiful and interesting, collected by the owners in large part from their travels in Asia. There are also lots of beautiful items you can purchase in their shop and have shipped home to you. If you’re looking for something unique I would recommend La Maison very highly. You will be so well taken care of!

We traveled via car through the South of France for our honeymoon, after our wedding in Italy. This was absolutely a highlight. Thoughtfully- converted, truly unique boutique hotel tucked in a quiet street in a magical, storybook town. Could have spent the day itself enjoying the amazing art collection throughout the hotel! Frederic was amazing, cooked delicious food and did thoughtful things like park our car in a garage the moment we arrived, made us tea in our room. We had complete privacy but also felt thoughtfully cared for and hosted, every need anticipated. A plethora of dining options around the beautiful town with rivers running through it were steps away. We merely stopped at one of the many options for dinner, and at a wine bar open until late. Breakfast of freshly prepared and personalized food, beautifully presented, was another highlight. The owners made the thoughtful details and carefully anticipated service look effortless, but there must have been incredible work behind it. Anyone who would overlook this experience for a large hotel is truly missing out. We will definitely return some day!
