We used this hotel as a base to explore the area and the location for that was good. Hotel is totally orientated towards golfers and was fully booked. Our room was clean, spacious, but noisy as we were next to the hallway, hot tubs and bar/restaurant. Food was ok, nothing special but they do seem to cater for a large amount of dietary requirements, mainly thanks to the prolific amount of American tourists staying here. Wouldn't stay here again but it is ok.
The rooms are nice, clean and functional, and the hotel has a great view. The restaurant is also good, not amazing but good for a hotel. The major let down is sound. There is no soundproofing between rooms, or with the hallway. In particular, if like us, you end up with a room near reception you will here everyone walking on the tile floors, talking down the hallway or just simply using the bathroom in the adjacent room. The hotel really needs to put a thick carpet on the tiling at least, and also make the curtains longer so light doesn’t stream in at night. If you stay here ask for a room far away from reception.
Situated a few kilometres outside of the centre of Borgarnes, the hotel has wonderful views and makes the most of these with an outdoor hot tub and sauna. Was great relaxing with a soak after a long day driving. The rooms are reasonable in size and accommodates 2 people comfortably. Bathrooms are stocked with L’occitane toiletries. The hotel has an onsite restaurant which offers an extensive but pricey menu. The portions are generous though! And the service is top notch. We agreed to be woken up for the Northern lights and although they weren’t their finest, it was a good experience to see what we saw. Overall this is a solid choice
What a find this hotel was. We had driven the circle tour and encountered unpredictable, sometimes white knuckling weather. We ended up skipping one day in the north because roads were closed or difficult driving. The staff allowed us to change our reservation to a day ahead, no problem. We loved the hotel so much, we stayed a second night! The sauna and hot tub looked out over the mountains and we ended each day here. The location was perfect for exploring ( the highly underrated ) Snaefellsjokull Peninsula. Staff were all so friendly and helpful. Our room was a nice size compared to our other hotels, with quite reasonable rates. Breakfast was very good as well. Best part was the hot tub. We plan to return to Iceland again, and will definitely stay here. Oh, we saw the northern lights here too.…
My husband and I travelled to Iceland in October 2019, and we did a tour that spanned 8 days with nights in different hotels as we travelled the western and southern regions. I think that this was our first nice hotel during the trip, and we absolutely loved it. The view from the rooms and the dining area are amazing, and the hot tubs were the hottest we encountered. The service was very nice, and the most challenging thing of our whole stay was figuring out how to work the showers haha. I would definitely return to this hotel if travelling through that area again.
