I selected to stay at Hestheimar because it was way outside any nearby city, thus giving the night sky plenty of darkness for Northern Light watching. Luckily one of the evenings, I was in my room and saw the Aurora from my window and was able to run outside to see the light show. The guesthouse is very modern and...

This guest house is situated un the middle of nowhere, with views of hekla and eyjafjallajökull. When the aurora appears, you ca see it just 100 m outside the cottages. We spent 2 nights in a cottage and loved it! It is well furnished comprising a fully equipped kitchen. One night we ate at the guesthouse and had a self-serving...

We were two couples in a road trip through south iceland. An old dream was to stay in a horse farm and enjoy a good tolt ride while staying in a country cottage facing a quiet paradise. Indeed hestheimer ticks the box. We made the reservation for a 4pax cottage through booking.com and everything went well. They promtply replyed to...

This was the first place we stayed on our trip and it started out a bit bumpy as we hit rough weather and were sleep deprived from the overnight flight so when we arrived after a day of exploring and stressful driving we were exhausted. It was also an extremely cold day with hurricane force winds. We were supposed to...

During our ten day trip to Iceland we stayed in numerous guest houses along the golden circle. Without exception our Icelandic hosts were very welcoming. Hestheimar stood out because the owners live right on site and make a special effort to mingle with the guests to ensure they are well taken care of and share their native experiences of Icelandic...

We stayed at Hestheimar for two nights and had a fantastic time. The staff was extremely helpful in finding fun outings and facilitating a horseback ride from the property. For the price you can't beat this place. We had a small cabin with a kitchen which as you may find out is very helpful in saving money. I would highly...

Great location, just off the main ring road. This is such a cozy place, the cabins are all private with their own bathroom, well kept and well-stocked with cooking supplies. The beds are cozy, with a pullout couch if there are more of you. The heating works perfectly so we were never uncomfortable. The view is magnificent and you have...

Stayed at one of the cottages here and a real effort had been made to make it cosy and welcoming (including the teddy bear with a message around his neck). Staff were very welcoming and friendly, as were the horses in the vicinity! Everything that we needed was in the cottage and were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights....

Hestheimar was beautiful. I stayed here at the beginning of September with two of my friends in the Guest House. The rooms were clean and bathrooms spacious. We even had a view of horses out of our bedroom window! We only stayed one night, but the highlight of our stay was our 2 hour horse ride! The horses were friendly,...

Marvelous view, warm and cozy, kitchen with everything you may need. Coffee, tea, sugar, milk available in the fridge. These cottages are in the middle of a riding farm - so if you like Iceland-Horses, this will be a wonderful place. Very tidy, clean and perfectly equiped
