We came here in a group of 18 and we were well looked after. Our room was comfortable. The outside hot tub was fun and the views cross the farmland in the midnight sun were superb. It was slightly unnerving to be quite so near Hekla, the active volcano but the staff seemed un worried by this. Would stay again... More

We were fortunate to get a room here on the night we got engaged, it is a real gem tucked away on the farm and is very clean and quiet. Stunning views of the glacier while having breakfast. We would highly recommend.

I spent 2 nights here in August and found it a beautiful, restful place. It is set on a working farm, so those who enjoy looking out at a herd of Icelandic horses and sheep with a lovely creek. The rooms are very nice with plenty of light and air. The views from our room- no 16 were fabulous. We... More

We stayed here for one night towards the end of our 11 day tour of Iceland. It is a very peaceful location well off the main road at the end of a rough track. The owner was very welcoming and was happy to let us use his office computer to check-in for our return flight to the UK. The food... More

Hotel Laekur is "out there." You may be wondering if you missed a turn somewhere. But, it is definitely worth the drive. The hostess greeted us warmly, gave us a short tour and made us feel right at home. The place was simple, but adorable. Food was delicious. Compared to a couple of chain hotels we had stayed in, this... More

We were staying at Hotel Selid, relatively nearby, but were booked to eat here. A wonderful peaceful location and fabulous food. Two vegetarians in our group were catered for very well. The chef came out to see us at the end of the meal. Not the cheapest meal we eat, but possibly the best

This hotel is supposed to be a fabulous place to see the Northern Lights, and I suspect it is. We happened to stay during the summer when it was light pretty much 24 hours a day, so Northern Lights weren't on the itinerary. It's located next to a stream and surrounded by farmland. Pastoral in the nicest way. They serve... More

This hotel is at the end of a (good) dirt road and is a beautiful conversion of old farm buildings. The reception could not be more pleasant and helpful and the bedrooms and bathrooms are super - large, fresh, very clean and excellent decorative order. All day free hot drinks. By virtue of its location, there is no choice but... More

Lovely small sort of rustic hotel, immaculate, friendly owner and beautiful grounds with sheep. However, the dinner was not good. I understand the limited choice and high price (7K kronas per person for small soup, main course, and dessert) as the hotel is remote. However, this was the worst meal we had in Iceland - just bland, not good quality... More

The truth is its not cheap but the owners and staff are welcoming, the food was amazing, the location is fantastically in the middle of nowhere. We wished we could have stayed there longer. Hoping to go back in winter to see the Northern Lights.
