We stayed one night in a standard double room in the original part of the hotel. We were given a warm welcome and our room was bright and airy with a small deck area off the bedroom with a fabulous view over the family farm and water. Just lovely. It is a remote location which made dining at the hotel restaurant for dinner necessary - no complaints here - the food was well presented and delicious! We were thrilled when the neighbouring horses came up to the fence just outside our room! We stayed up to midnight to see the midnight sun over the water - just beautiful. Highly recommend.

Great rooms with stunning Views and sweet horses in the fields.my sister and I have many allergies and the chef was very kind and skilled in preparing meals for us. The breakfast had an excellent range of freshly baked breads and hot food, and some excellent local cheese and home made jams. The isolated location was great for northern lights watching. Thank you to the farmer who owns the hotel, it was the best and most authentic Icelandic experience we had. Regards Victoria and Elly

Windy location but nicely warm room with stunning view on the superb nature around. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed on Sunday so we had our cozy private diner with local food in the room. We could enjoy beautiful scenery from the terrace. The room was very clean and well-equipped. Make sure the shower store goes up to the floor as otherwise all the bathroom will be under water 😉. The owner lady is extremely friendly and it is a great pleasure to listen to her explanations about the beautiful nature around. The breakfast was more than excellent and we enjoyed a large choice of typical local, even homemade food. A discovery trip compared to the classical continental breakfast served in so many other accommodations. We really recommend this place and just regret we missed the dinner !

The property caters to groups rather than individual bookings. We did not eat dinner at the restaurant because large groups had booked early times. We were told breakfast would be open at 7:30 AM. We arrived at 7:30 am and a large group had overrun the breakfast buffet by the time we arrived. The breakfast offerings were limited and not particularly appetizing. Shortly thereafter another large group arrived making the experience even less comfortable. Based on the breakfast experience we were quite happy that we skipped eating dinner at the property.
The property is remote with nothing nearby. The room appeared to be new construction. No steps were available for the entry requiring a large step up to the entry. The pillows were undersized and uncomfortable. There was a new large flat screen smart television on the wall, but service was not available. When the manager was asked about the lack of service he told us to use our Netflix account. Considering the location has no activities nearby and there are 32 units, the property should have satellite service provided and a Netflix account available for customers that don't have Netflix. The manager was not very pleasant or accommodating. I perceived he had less regard for us since we were not part of a large group.
Bath soap or body wash was not provided in the room. The access to the room was not convenient for walking and the driveway was rocky and quite rough.

Hofsstadir is wonderful. The views from the room we occupied were stunning and the sunset was something to behold. Room itself was outstanding, while the breakfast was excellent and features some unique local products which can also be bought as reception also acts as a shop.

What an amazing hotel. Our comfortable room had both a front and back porch which overlooked marshlands and streams and was amazing at sunrise. There was a partition from the room next door to add to our privacy. Grounds are landscaped beautifully with many outdoor sitting areas. Loved the rocks that the owner inherited from his father. Meals are served in lovely room overlooking the grounds and while we only had breakfast, it was delicious and plentiful.

In the middle of nowhere, with a stunning view on the estuary bay, you’ll find Hofsstadir guesthouse. We stayed here for 1 night during our Iceland tour, and had booked it with little expectations other than a night’s sleep to start into the Highlands the next day. But we were absolutely positively surprised by this gem. Locationwise, it is a 100m off the (quiet) road, and overlooks the estuary from above. The view is most spectacular from the main building/lodge, where you have dinner/breakfast with floor to ceiling panoramic windows. The rooms are in several separate buildings, a little bit motel-style, where you can park your car near your own front door.
The room was large, comfortable with its own little patio in the back, and a decent bathroom. The food was delicious, and since there are no other restaurants nearby, you should book dinner upon arrival. Breakfast was equally nice and we were a bit reluctant to be leaving again.

a spectacular location & exquisite rooms. The rooms are quite unique, and a spectacular location for viewing Northern lights. We only stayed 1 night but would have happily been to extend. The meals in their dining room were fresh, local and offered alternative for any diet.

The setting and views were 5+ stars. The rooms were excellent with a small patio in front and back of each room, according to the strong winds. Food was basic, leaving flavors to the primary food, rather than uses herbs or sauces. Quite expensive, esp food and drink. I would stay here again however.

A delightful country inn! The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our room was older and plain but very clean, quiet and functional. The beds were comfortable. The provided breakfast was very nice with many homemade items and local produce. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was superb. Views from the restaurant are fantastic. We would certainly stay here again.
