One does not have anyone helping out in person at this hotel; everything is on selfservice basis, so it becomes utterly unfriendly. We had problems with the check-in because although we received the booking.com confirmation, we did not receive the hotel's email with the codes for checking in. The contact number that was indicated did not function. The hotel rooms...

Not recommended even for a 1-night stop. - Rooms were old and seemed dirty with old equipment - Bed was terrible with some weird substance in the sheets - Location in the middle of nowhere - Dinner was terrible -> Price was high, frozen fish and reheated potatoes. Frozen shrimps... Only reason for 2 stars is the staff who tried...

This is a strange spot. I guess you only find yourself be here when travelling between east and west Iceland and that's noticeable. I was very warm welcomed when entering the building. Room was OK/nothing special, TV a bit old but who cares. All rooms are in one long corridor, which is uncommon but nevertheless convenient. Dining was quite an...

We stopped over on our way from the fishing harbor town of Ísafjörður to Akureyri, the commercial center of northern Iceland. Out in the middle of farm country. A local farmer cutting and raking his grass hay just outside our window. Sunny skies, moderate temperatures. It all fit nicely into a basic rural Iceland experience. Aced out by a European...

Not recommended. First of all you have to tell them until 18:00 what you would like to eat. There is not much to choose from. However, the food is served after 19:30. Well, we thought that the cook might need the time to prepare something special but realized that the time difference was needed to defrost the frozen food. This...

with clean rooms, and uninspiring, vapid, decor. Dinner and breakfast were average.. Ordered a glass of wine and it arrived ala airline fashion in a single serving bottle. If you want a wake-up call before seven you are totally out of luck. All in all Iceland really needs to step up to the plate with their rooms and service if...

Background: We (a family of four, children both adults too) stayed at hotel Staðarskáli for one night in July 2012. The reason for the stay was entirely to have a place where to sleep. We were on our way to Keflavik to Myvatn, and the location of Staðarskáli was great for our purpose - we left for Staðarskáli at 5...
