Ken P Birding near Mountshannon. Returning home from a long weekend birding along the western shore of Lough Derg my group of eight from Northern Ireland have great memories of looking at White-tailed Eagles in flight and sitting on a favourite perch out on a small wooded island in the lake. Apart from the birds the highlight of our stay...

The B&B is great, location is wonderful, sadly, I stayed only for one night. I would love to come back and stay a few nights since there's plenty of things to do in Mountshannon. Also, it was an evening to remember since my plan was to go to bed early, but luckily I witnessed the famous Irish hospitality when I...

I stayed at Hawthorn Lodge for two nights and enjoyed it very much. Ursula gave me a very warm welcome and was very attentive. The room was big, tidy and bright and nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was absolutely brilliant. Definitely one of the best B&Bs I've ever been to!

The family was really nice and friendly and their kids played with our kids. The breakfast was lovely. I will definitely stay there again.
