We visited for two nights and I was very surprised how well the stay went considering that we paid such a low price. Upon arrival, our temperature was taken, masks were worn in the lobby and sanitisers were everywhere. The price included buffet breakfast & dinner exc. drinks, pool (both indoor and outdoor) and a day at Comino/ hop on hop off. We couldn’t go to comino on the day we were staying and they happily offered us a ticket to go on another day. Lunch is also available upon a cost. Unfortunately there aren’t many activities around the hotel apart from pools. Staff was very generous and the manager was one of a kind. We didn’t like our beds and they changed our room immediately. The rooms were fully airconditioned. Would definitely recommend and go there again!

We went there for the long weekend in September. Cleanliness is top notch, sanitizer in any floor near the lift and at the entrance to go to the reception or around the buffet you need to wear mask, rooms were cleaned all the time during our stay .You can't complain in this hotel, everyone is so helpful and try their very best to feel yourself at home. Food was awesome really tasty everyday different food on the buffet. On the buffet they have the plastic around it and the chefs serves you, also is gluten free friendly too which I can't eat from the buffet they prepared from the kitchen.
Staff are really nice and know how to deal with guests and very helpful, last and not least the general manager Mr. Simon Borda,
He's so down to earth, ready to help you in any matter.
Thumbs up to this wonderful hotel. For sure we pay another visit another time and I will suggested to my family, friends and coworkers to come in this beautiful relaxing hotel.

I've stayed at the il palazzin hotel before and couldn't wait for it to reopen after some refurbishments. I live here in malta and do like to stay in hotels as a treat with my wife now and again just to feel in holiday mode! The il palazzin hotel staff and general aura you get from When you arrive and during your stay is warm and welcoming. It is one of the only hotels in the area that supply comfortable beds, clean rooms, freshly cooked breakfast ( which is very very good) and evening meals too, catering to there very best to everyone's needs!! I work in the area and sometimes cannot stop for breakfast, however they gladly let me takeaway my breakfast in a box. Also sometimes if the weather closes in, they have a very good selection of tv channels for all nationalities and movies to, ( not just a news channel like some ) all In all don't take my word for it try it out yourselves, for a CLEAN RELAXING break book with the il palazzin hotel!!!!!!👍👍👍👍ps try and get room 416 !!! That's if I'm not there 👍

Overall not great.
We booked a week stay here as part of a package holiday but left early. First warning was the receptionist would only give us one key card for the room. When I said "but there are 4 of us" (couple and two teenagers) she shouted that she had 200 guests and could not give more than one key per room. We never felt we could ask her for any advice or information about the area. She made us feel as if we were a nuisance. Secondly, the 'indoor pool' is hilariously small, like a children's pool and the outdoor pool was only cleaned on the third day of our stay. Also, the maid knocked on our door to clean the room early each morning even when we told her that we were getting ready to go out for the day and just needed a little time. The decor is shabby and in need of updating. Our room was a little dark and depressing, with the smallest TV I've seen in years, about the the size of a laptop. The breakfast wasn't of great quality although there was a lot of choice.

As for the positives, the little balcony was nice and it looks quite pleasant from the outside. Most of the other staff, at reception and in the breakfast room were polite and helpful. It's not in a great area but it is a short walk to the local bus terminus and the promenade is close by. There are also lots of coffee shops and restaurants in the area.

It's definitely not a 4 star hotel and badly needs an upgrade to bring it out of the 1980s. If you are just planning to sleep here for a few nights, and get out every day for day trips it should be OK, but if you have notions of relaxing by the pool or having a few drinks in the bar, forget it. The one night we got back from a long day out I ordered a drink and the barman asked if I wanted another before he closed;it was 10pm!

We booked a B&B for the last 2 nights of our stay, which was lovely by comparison.

After the first two nights of a two week stay, it is time for a first review. This hotel is in a quiet area of Qwara. Some building works in the area, but not annoying. The room (413) has a decent size with a very small balcony. A fast and reliable Internet connection. The room (tiles on the floor) and bathroom are clean. The bed is a bit soft for my liking, but that is a personal preference. They still give you an old fashioned key with a wooden handle attached to it, that you are supposed to leave at reception every time you leave the hotel. I travel a lot both for work and private reasons. But it has been fifteen years since I didn't get a keycard in an hotel, but a real key that you have to turn in a lock. There is a safe in the room, also operated with a key that you can get at reception free of charge. There is coffee and tea in the room. Many shops, restaurants and pubs are within a fifteen minute walk, as is the main bus station with connections to all parts of the island. There is an outdoor swimming pool near the entrance and a small indoor pool on the roof. If you want to catch the sun, you will have to use the sunbeds on the roof. Because of the big buildings surrounding this hotel, the main pool is in the shade most of the day. My room rate was excellent (less than €40 a day, a decent breakfast (continental and English) included. When I rate the level of luxury, I would give this hotel three stars instead of four, but overall I am very satisfied with my choice. After having tried three other hotels in the same area (Park Lane, Pebbles and Gillieru Harbour), the price-quality ratio of Il Palazzin is great.

My third stay in two years. This time, I spend three weeks in room 405. Very friendly staff. Both Rosalyn and Simon are always ready to provide good service. The same for all the staff in the restaurant sta Palma, the bar and the housekeeping staff. Il Palazzin is situated in an old building and in old buildings some things sometimes break down. But as soon as you report it, it gets fixed. The breakfast (buffet) is included and will give you a great start for the day. The WiFi signal in room 405 was not very dependable (it works well on the first three floors), but I had enough data for 3G/4G. Some renovations are necessary. One of the lifts hasn’t been working for quite some time now and a lick of paint here and there would be nice. They used to have a (shared) taxi service for €6.50 to the airport, but not this time. I had a pick-up at 4:30 am and the driver insisted that I paid him €28 in cash before I got in his minibus. In the bus were already two other people and €28 for a shared taxi is pricey, because you usually pay €25 for a private transfer. Overall, this was a nice stay in Malta again. The staff is a great asset to this hotel. A shame that the hotel will be closed in March when I return to the island. So then I will have to make alternative arrangements.

We stayed in a room big enough to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children and had half board for meals. All facilities were very clean, staff very pleasant and helpful. There was lots of choice at breakfast and dinner including a variety of salads each evening and plentiful fruit in the morning. Cooked breakfasts were piping hot with plenty of choice. The hotel is very close to the bus stop for traveling to other places such as sandy beaches or the capital for sightseeing. For younger children there is an excellent air conditioned cafe/restaurant very close
called Luzzu with a large indoor play area including soft play. We would be very happy to stay here again.

Lovely holiday we stayed recently at this hotel it is surrounded by apartments so no sea view. But it was a nice quiet area although lots of building in some streets, it didn’t impact on us. The room was comfortable and looked newly painted. The bed was large and very comfortable, the balcony was overlooking the pool and complete with table and chairs to sit out. The bathroom was a bit tired and the shower lacked power, but it was very clean. The pool was a nice place to sit out and didn’t get busy while we were there as it’s a fairly small area but plenty of beds and shade. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety. Staff were great and very friendly. Some good restaurants within a few minuets walk, seafood, Italian and burgers. About 5 minutes from the main bus station and buses cheap to pop around the island a better option than the hop on bus which goes to Valletta before beginning the trip so it’s an all day affair. Well worth a visit a good quality budget hotel.

Writing this on the last night of our stay. Picked on the basis of reviews, and the fact that a certain ‘Booking’ site has a great offer on our dates.

The place is great as a base. Rooms comfortable and plenty of hot water for baths and showers. Breakfast is top notch - cold meats, fruit salad, yoghurts, eggs, bacon, lovely sausages, as well as bread, rolls and croissants. Only faults were juices are out a machine and not very ‘real’ and they use margarine from the 70s, if you can remember that far back.

We used the indoor pool on the 6th floor, which was warm enough in October.

Parking is the one big issue if you have a hire car. The website is correct, there is plenty of free parking, but finding a space after 2pm is virtually impossible as the residents of the flats beat you to them!

Good holiday and hotel. Very Covid compliant and clean. Reception staff are very friendly. Would gladly come back.

great location and price. nice employees, simple but good breakfast. our room was 505, it had shade in the morning so not too hot. great restaurants around the area. the area was very nice - surrounded by apartments and actual Maltese living there. sadly, our last night was ruined by the hotel's night receptionist's. even though the employees are nice and professional, we were led down. at 4 am in the morning a drunk man was led into our room, thinking that our room is his room (his room was 405). the man starts yelling, we start yelling and in seconds he realizes that he was let into the wrong room. basically, what happened, the night receptionist didn't check which room number the guest is staying in and just let the guest into our room. needless to say, it was a traumatizing experience. the hotel apologized, we spoke to the manager, he explained the situation and gave us 40EUR experience. as we were leaving the next day, he said: "I wish I could compensate you somehow, but it seems you are leaving". I worked in the hotel industry for 5 years, but you don't have to be an expert to understand that it was a poor conflict resolution... I personally wouldn't stay again.

The pool is big enough. I have seen people doing lengths in it. It can be quite shaded but in the summer months it is a blessing especially with children's. Water is no colder than any other unheated pool. There is a very small covered heated pool on the roof with some exercise bikes, lounging chairs and a good shower. Enjoy as I have done and will again soon I hope when everything opens up.
