This hotel is nice. I have been to other Fuerte Hotels and this is the most humble and rustic version of the family. Upon arrival the receptionists were involved in some computer issues and didn't even greet or acknowledged us. We had a room with direct access to the main level and views of Grazalema. The room was small for US standards and the beds too firm. I was unimpressed with the decoration and especially the bathroom tile. It seems a bit outdated. The hotel was very loud at night with kids running around and yelling. I would have expected a different, more respectful crowd, but I guess Spaniards go to bed very very late. We had breakfast at the buffet and again I was disappointed. There was quite a bit of variety but what was lacking was quality. Of course no coffee maker in the room, there was a mini fridge but had drinks for purchase. They did have complimentary water and snacks for purchase. The prices of drinks/snacks were very reasonable. The location of the hotel with respect to the town is far. You definitely need a car.

We had just the one night here. I wish we'd had more time to stay longer. The hotel is in a rural setting about 5 or 10 minutes drive from Grazalema. There is a great view of the town from the Restaurant on the deck. The Manager/Reception person was friendly and helpful. She also gave us a bunch of trail/hiking maps around the area and explained a little about a each one. We did a few of the hikes. Plenty of parking at the hotel - some covered, if you get in early enough. Great pool. Great rooms. Bar and restaurant. Also a poolside bar/restaurant during the day. The rooms are well laid out with quality fittings and furniture. Very quiet as well. The best room are at the far end (away from the pool end) on ground level where you have your own little area outside your door and you can walk out to the pool, gardens etc. It is a bit of a walk from reception, but well worth it. They do a buffet dinner (and breakfast) and you certainly won't go hungry. There are plenty of options. At dinner there is a hot plate where the Chef will cook your choice of meat/fish from the selection. Breakfast is similar, but with eggs & bacon. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. The service is great too. There is a restaurant just along the road within walking distance if you are looking for a change. We didn't make it there (the in-house restaurant was fine for our one night) but it looked nice enough. The bar stays open late and there is plenty of room there. If you have little children, there is also a little area with some chickens, ducks, peacocks and sheep, as well as a friendly dog.

We spent 2 weeks here, the room was comfortable and clean, the balcony lovely - even if the peculiar choice of planted trees spoilt the view ! The food is really good, an impressive number of choices to meet every taste. The staff went over and above to make our stay comfortable, they were really friendly and accommodating. Weekends are really busy with kids, but the staff worked hard to try and manage the noise and ensure we were not affected. Ultimately it’s not the staff fault if parents let their children misbehave and run riot. The views are fantastic, Grazalema was so pretty and only a walk away. Overall a lovely hotel in a great location, lovely food and great staff.

The low rates (under 100eur seen online were not available during our stay. They charged us 130eur. The prices they charged for our room, dinner, and breakfast suggested a better experience than was delivered. The food on the dinner buffet was so salty, some dishes were barely edible. Breakfast was somewhat better, but definitely not worth the price. Go drive into Grazalema or Ronda and find something better. If it's summer and you plan to go to the pool, go stake out your chair right after breakfast, or you won't get one at any point during the day. Everyone else puts towels on chairs they aren't even using yet, and leave them there even when they go eat lunch for 2 hours. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well enough, the shower had good water pressure, and we were able to hang some laundry to dry on the balcony.
