We stayed three nights in the Parador de Zafra, a former ducal place which combines a castle-like appearance on the outside with a renaissance palace feel to the interior. We had a very pleasant large, airy room overlooking the inner courtyard and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was pretty good; the... More

Firstly let's dispell other reviews about poor parking, you can park rite at the entrance to the hotel, the parking is under the control of the municipality and costs a mere €3.75 per 24 hour period, so exelent parking. The reception staff were friendly informative and attentive as were the bar and restaurant staff, the room was warm and well... More

The room furnishings were torn and dusty. The receptionist looked like we had woken her up when we arrived in the afternoon and pretended not to speak English! There is not much to see in the town of Zafra, we went because we wanted to stay in a 'castle'. The restaurant was expensive and deserted so we ate in a... More

We stayed one night with friends - the rooms were great - very spacious public rooms with a centre court yard all in a very historic building. The hotel is also in a superb location for visiting the old centre. We found the breakfast of a good standard. We cannot comment on the restaurant as we did not eat in... More

Nice building and surrounding. The standard room we lived was though not what we expected for such hotel. The shower is not fit for a disabled person and the toilet needed a bit fixing also. Wifi worked only in the big aula. For a hotel with this standard the room should be updated

As you can see the building is an old fort converted into a residence and now a Parador. The internal structure is amazing with a courtyard fitted with marble. Our room was a very good size and extremely comfortable. If you are staying then do take a visit to the battlements and wander around with great views over the town... More

We had a lovely time staying in the castle at the Parador of Zafra. Staff were friendly and helpful; the accommodation was delightful; the food and wine were good; the location was ideal for visiting the old town on foot.

We would not stay in this Parador again. The staff were very unfriendly, very unusual for a Parador. Have never encountered this before. There is such a choice of Paradores so why go to one like this?
