The couple that run la Baliza are very nice and accommodating and the house itself is quite beautiful. We enjoyed our stay and wish we could give them 5 stars but there are just a few things lacking that cause it to fall short. Our room was quite large and had a private terrace that overlooked the sea in the distance; quite beautiful, especially in the morning. Unfortunately, there is also a window at waist height that looks onto the balcony shared with the other guests, or rather they can look into your room by just being on the balcony so you have to keep those drapes closed. Not that you go to the Mediterranean to watch TV but sometimes it is nice to watch the news etc. There is no TV in the bedroom or common room for the guests and no radio either. The bathroom was generous in size and very clean as were the rest of the guest areas but the only toiletries provided were a pump bottle of hand soap and lots of odds and ends that appeared to be left behind in the cabinet by previous guests. The breakfast was very good and offered a nice variety of hot (eggs/bacon) and cold (breads, yoghurt, fruit) with coffee and tea available anytime. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again but it will take a few tweaks before it is a true 5 star accommodation.…
Traveling along the AP7 highway, we decided to check out the coastal area in Jávea (Xàbia), where we booked a B&B called the Villa la Baliza. This quite lovely house sits on a cul-de-sac with a light honey balustraded walkway leading to the front door. We were met by the owners, who are Dutch and speak English perfectly. We were two couples and each of our upstairs rooms had very comfortable double beds. Both rooms had a private terrace that had spacious views looking down to the sea, large private bathrooms that were very clean and modern with bath robes, quality toiletries, and plush bath towels. There was also a third room upstairs that used a hall bathroom. Downstairs outside, there was a large swimming pool with an outdoor shower, and a patio area with loungers and other seating. There wasn’t a desk in our room, but we were able to bring in a patio table to do some writing. There were small lights to each side of the bed, but they were fairly soft and difficult to read by when lying in bed. A big plus was there were plenty of electrical plugs, free Wi-Fi, and it was a blissfully quiet stay. Breakfast was at 9:00, served in an upstairs small central dining room, which had its own French doors that opened up on to another balcony. More than enough food was provided. The orange juice was fresh-squeezed, the butter soft-whipped, and the apricot and strawberry jams tasted home-made. There was yogurt and strawberries, eggs and bacon, and the nicest offering was Miranda’s freshly-baked bread. A coffee machine and hot-water pot for tea were available, too. There is no doubt, the owners have a choice property and the views are tremendous. With all of Villa la Baliza’s amenities, we were sorry we had not booked a longer stay. But now that we know about it, we would not hesitate to go back. Check in time is 3:00 to 9:00, and check-out time is by 10:30. Do let the owners know when they can expect your arrival. Payment is in advance, and there is plenty of parking. Highly recommended!…
