The Red Lion Hotel is a 5 star inn situated on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, with views of the award winning Cromer Pier. We boast 14 en-suite Bedrooms and Suites, all of different shapes and styles. The restaurant was recently awarded a rosette from the AA as well as a Breakfast award. The Red Lion is over two hundred years old, retaining many of its original features, including wood panelling, open log fires and Victorian flooring. Our bar holds a variety of local ales, supplied by only the best breweries in Norfolk, helping us win CAMRA’s ‘best Norfolk rural pub of the year’ 2022. We look forward to welcoming you!
It would have been special if it hadn't been for one member of staff who treated us as if we had the plague. The food was great, and the room was clean apart from the big cobweb in the bathroom. There was another in the bedroom. You may be a premier hotel in Cromer but we won't be coming back.

Dear Getaway54101021032, I feel disheartened that you have felt the need to leave us 3 negative reviews regarding your stay with us, on every platform that you can leave a review on. Again, I apologise that you feel as if a member of staff didn't serve you quick enough. It is a shame that you felt as though you could not speak to a member of senior management about this at the time it happened so we could have rectified this rather than you leaving unhappy.

Upon arrival, there was no record of our booking. We booked a table 4 months in advance for an anniversary celebration. The lady in charge ( I think her name was Hayley) was not at all apologetic and said that there was nothing she could do, blaming us, saying that we had cancelled it ourselves ! Evening was totally ruined and we had to find a different pub for our special occasion. We will never return.

Grouper123, Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback. I apologise that you did not have a positive experience with us, however, I do feel like there is slightly misleading information within your review. As with everywhere January is a quiet month and even if there had been a mistake with your booking we would still have been able to accommodate a table of 4 with no issues, booked or not. Unfortunately, The Hayley you are referring too has not worked any evening shifts during January. Which is when you had said that you'd visited. If you wish to speak about this matter further please contact me directly on dpo@redlion-cromer.co.uk

Had dinner here on Christmas Eve. Love this pub/ hotel as its very welcoming and has a nice feel to it and is dog friendly. Hubby had steak with blue cheese sauce, said best he'd eaten and I had the Dover sole, which I found to be under seasoned, but that could be my taste buds. Staff friendly as always. Dogs had the doggie popcorn which I felt was poor value for money and one dog didn't even want to try. Price was average and service charge added, which at Christmas time is something we didn't mind paying. Will return to eat or just have a drink.

A wonderful Sunday roast turkey dinner. We'll worth the walk from Sheringham. The staff were lovely as was the atmosphere. We had a couple of pints of real ale with lunch and a rich chocolate desert too. We are going back on Wednesday for more.

Firstly stayed here a year ago, wonderful room, service and food! Just stayed on in our caravan near Cromer but treated ourselves to a lunch, in the Red Lion as we enjoyed our food last year! I really wanted Cromer crab and I wasn’t disappointed. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the fishcakes, didn’t need his add-on chips as the potato salad etc with my crab was huge, so could have shared. Service was again great, lovely restaurant, dog friendly! Looking forward to going back!

Stayed for 2 nights with 4 other couples. Dinner and breakfasts were excellent and then staff were great. However the rooms we all stayed in were very different. Some were large rooms and had amazing views and comfortable beds. Our room (11) was a gloomy small room with a small window opposite a building across the road. The room was hot but if we opened the window we could hear the motor of the extractor fan from the bar. We had a small double bed, and a shower that took ages to warm up with a weak spray. Very expensive and very disappointing.

Dear johnmE4344FE, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your Dinner and Breakfasts. All of the rooms of the Hotel are different shapes and sizes, when the lead booker booked the rooms there was a choice of which rooms he could book, the room you was in is a standard double room, one of the smaller non- sea view rooms. The rooms can get warm depending on the temperature outside, however there are large fans provided in the rooms that can be used at all times.

We stayed for 2 nights in May. We were upgraded to the old Billiard Room on arrival - an absolutely huge room, well appointed. The Red Lion was a friendly, busy hotel, with helpful staff and the bar was very popular with local walk-in trade. Breakfasts were generous, well presented and tasty. We ate in on one evening and the food was excellent, with the service appropriate, friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet, warm and the bed was comfortable. It was a great base for a weekend in Cromer and the surrounding area.

Yes, it was another warm and busy day for hospitality staff, and yes, I can sympathize that they've had enough after the school holidays, but that's no excuse to ignore punters as blatantly as the waitresses at The Red Lion did tonight. First, it took a good while to get a drink at the bar,but what really got to me was when after waiting for over 30 mins in the restaurant and signalising that I was ready to order the manageress told me in no uncertain terms that there were several other tables in front of me.That told me...so I waited a bit longer, but when it was my turn the pork had sold out as had some of the specials. I decided to leave and was told rudely that "we had a very busy day". All I can say is you don't deserve to be busy with Front of House staff that rude ,unwelcoming & arrogant. I had hoped to stay with you again as your rooms are lovely, and your ales are well kept but won't return. Ps: But thank you for making me look for a dinner alternative - I found Yumy Yumy, where the food and staff were delightful 🙂! …

Dear LittleBeach12, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I'd like to apologise that the service you received from was not the service that was expected or up to our usual level. We are indeed very busy and have been all season, but that does not mean that the service should differ to any other time of the year. Please contact me directly on dpo@redlion-cromer.co.uk FAO: Hayley, where i'd like to discuss this futher.
