Staff all had a smile and acted very professionally
Everything better than most hotels
Keep up the good work
Thanks for a lovely stay
The bed linen was crisp white and smelt beautifully clean and the mattress and pillows were heavenly we all slept very very well indeed. The flat screen tv had the added benefit of on demand and the wifi worked well throughout our stay at no extra charge. Our tea tray was well stocked and there is a basket to help yourself to extra too if you needed it.
The guest house is literally across the road from the sea front and less than a 5 minute walk from crazy golf, fish and chips, amusements and shops. It is a easy downhill walk with good size pavements both sides for access.
We were able to park in a bay outside the hotel however street parking and even the pay and display is very reasonably priced at ÂŁ5 for overnight.
We spent the afternoon on the beach before venturing out for dinner. We would not recommend the hotel next door for food but there is lots of place around to eat in the evening.
Breakfast was served until 10am and as we booked direct this was included in our room rate.
Breakfast was simply excellent. We were offered tea, coffee, hot chocolate as well as fruit juice. Toast was beautiful thick sliced bread and there was proper butter and a selection of jams on the table.
The breakfast menu is fantastic with fruit salad, porridge, granola and also full English along with healthy options. Our children had fruit salad and myself and husband has full English. I had a poached egg with mine which was perfect. The breakfasts were served on hot plates which was also a nice touch. Absolutely no complaints from us.
Checkout was easy with a key box and is a reasonable 10am deadline.
We would recommend staying here if you are looking for a traditional seaside stay that is in a prime location.
There was an expectation that guests would wear face masks while in the public parts of the hotel and there was a one way system in operation.
The location was very handy for the town and beach and our room was quiet.
Altogether, I was very satisfied and felt safe.
The room was very spacious and very clean, the beds were very comfy (don’t understand some reviews saying there not!). Kettle, coffee, tea, tv, hairdryer, iron, all provided. Vending machine downstairs with snacks in. During covid there is a one way system in place.
I can’t comment on the breakfast because we didn’t have it.
There really is minimal parking at the hotel, maybe like 6 parking spaces?? But sides streets are free to park down.
The location is great, right opposite the miniature golf and straight past that you can get down to the beach. A 5 min walk takes you to Morrison’s, and 10 min walk to the smaller shops and takeaways.
We always knew we weren’t going to be spending all day in the hotel room so wasn’t looking for luxury, just somewhere clean and comfy. If you are looking for a luxurious stay, this probably isn’t for you.
If I was to be picky, the WiFi wasn’t very good and I ended up just using data and the sink was too small (had to use a glass to fill up the kettle). But all in all we were happy with our stay.
From the exterior the building does look a bit run down and dated but alot of the building in Cromer do, but that should not turn you away from staying at this guest house.
The staff were all very friendly, the room we stayed in was large, spotless and very warm.
For the price we paid to stay in March was a reasonable price for 2 adults and a toddler.
Breakfast was included in the price with Strong free WiFi connection. We did have to pay extra for a travel cot for our son ( about ÂŁ7 per night).
The building has about 4 free parking out front but there is also street parking available if you can find a spot as they fill up quickly.
If you are traveling with a buggy bare in mind that there are steps to get up to the front and side doors of the building and steep steps to get up to the 1st floor.
I would also recommend a ground floor room if possible in order to avoid all the stairs.
Over all I enjoyed my stay at the Sandcliff Guest House and would gladly recommend this place.
The paint on the ceiling was peeling and it just looked tired. Personally I found the bed very hard and whilst it all seemed clean there was a blob of what looked like washed & ironed chewing gum on the duvet.
The room seemed quiet (no noise from other rooms), just the odd creaking floorboard on landing.
Breakfast was served from 8.30-9.30 and it was ok (not keen on tinned tomatoes and tinned mushrooms).
It served a purpose of a convenient bed for the night but at ÂŁ73 plus ÂŁ7.95 for breakfast I cant describe it as good value.
"A short walk to the town centre (downhill) of Cromer. Crazy Golf courses close by and a good location for visiting National Trust homes."Read full review
