Had 3 night stay at this hotel it was very nice. We booked direct with the hotel so we had one of the best rooms and price included breakfast. I think all rooms had a sea view of some sort but our room was on the front (room 1) had full views of the coastline. Yeah you are on the road but we didn’t really notice. The room was large with double and a single bed in which was very comfortable. The bathroom was of a good size with bath and overhead shower. The hotel also provided bath/shower gel and shampoo/body wash bottles all sanitized for you. Breakfast was between 8-10am and you were shown to your table which had all cutlery in plastic bags ready for you to uncover. You were also given your menu which had everything you would want for breakfast. Staff very efficient and nothing seemed to be any trouble for them and very helpful. We had a full English breakfast every morning with mixed toast and a pot of tea. We also ate in the restaurant 2 nights out of the 3 and food was very good and they were big portions we couldn’t manage 3 courses. The last night we ate in the bistro cafe a joining the hotel again very good food. They bar was just to the side of reception and it was table service they had a good choice of gins and tonics which I loved. We would definitely recommend and we would go back to stay at this hotel.

Mixed feelings about Cliftonville. We paid £260 per night for dinner, bed and breakfast, we have stayed in B&B's at £60 per night where the rooms were far superior. This is certainly overpriced. The room we had needs a complete overhaul, the furniture is old and past it's best, the carpet needs a good clean. Damage to the ceiling has been patched up with polyfilla which is constantly falling down onto dressing table below. Bed fairly comfy, have definitely slept in worse. Bathroom has been updated and is nice. The general cleanliness of the room was good. The display of silver in the cabinet on the stairs was covered in dust, unsurprisingly this was removed during our stay - why display dirty items? The carpet in the public areas very grubby. Windows all need a good clean inside and out, particularly in the dining room where dead flies and spiders are trapped between the secondary glazing. Not nice to see when eating. Plenty of tea/coffee etc in the rooms, but would expect bottled water each day and better quality biscuits and toilet rolls for the price. Also better quality napkins in dining room (supply issues?). All staff we encountered, reception, housekeeping, bar and waiting were approachable and very pleasant. The saving grace of Cliftonville is the food, all excellently cooked and presented, piping hot and plentiful. We enjoyed all of our meals except one where a non-resident had booked a table for 10 which had been laid out in an oblong, and then requested a square (much to the obvious annoyance of staff). After residents had already started eating this was not on, moving tables around on a wooden floor made a lot of noise. The annoying thing was not a word of explanation or apology from staff. When I said to one of them 'change of plan?' was told it was someone 'important'. Umm. This was the only evening we had only one course. When we checked in, our first thought was that if breakfast wasn't good we wouldn't stay. The food certainly saved our stay.

A lot of our rooms are due refurbishment following a busy summer and your feedback is welcomed. I am pleased the general cleanliness was good and that the bathroom was nice. We are under new ownership and your comments will be fed back for consideration. We do struggle with the windows. They are cleaned every week but with the sand and salt blown off the sea it is very difficult to keep on top of this but there is no excuse for dead flies and spiders. However, I am delighted you enjoyed the food. We are, indeed, so lucky to have such beautifully fresh produce in our area. Not to mention the Cromer Crab. I cannot imagine what happened with the table being moved and as you say this is unacceptable and an apology to all other residents should have been made. Apologies. I am sorry your stay was not as enjoyable as it should have been and thank you for your comments.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Found it expensive for what it was .Rooms were dated and in need of maintenance. We stayed in room 4 with it's cracked window ,bottom of shower coming away , cracked shower tap etc. Not worth the £. and they said it would be replaced it but it never was. To pick out the positives , I would say the location is great and with a decent sea view . The breakfast was substantial and good quality and we took advantage of the governments 50 percent discount so were happy to pay the additional £7.25 each for it . The interesting ecleptic mix of Edwardian architecture , ingothic candelabra's, stain glass windows and disco balls in the dining room should not really work together ...but it does and creates character. Overall I would give it the generous rating of Average as clearly they are trying to work through these unprecedented pandemic times and there may be staffing issues etc but they are charging pre pandemic prices !

I took my mum away for a short break as she had been confined to home for the past few months. I booked 2 Executive Singles (3 and 22) and we were both pleasantly surprised by how well appointed they were with a good view of the sea etc. 22 was particularly good with a newly refurbished bathroom. The bathroom in 3 was a little tired but everything was clean and worked well. The rooms facing the road and sea can be a little noisy, but thankfully it is quiet over night.
The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and food and drinks were reasonably priced and of excellent quality. We ate the famous cromer crab, I particularly enjoyed the crab salad. I will definitely stay again if I visit Cromer again.

I booked a room here with a sea view which was a terrible room, number 10. There was flaking paint in the bathroom, the view overlooked a car park and the windows were extremely dirty. It was a shockingly bad room. We paid £200 extra for an upgrade and were given room 35. I felt as if I was in heaven, check the view from the room! The bathroom was state of the art, obviously newly refurbished. A hotel should not have such a disparity between the quality of its rooms. Honestly it felt like staying at two separate hotels! One unimaginably luxurious and the other grotty and not worthy of a one star rating.
Some of the common parts of the hotel are showing their age. Fair do's it's an Edwardian hotel, but it is generally in need of some refurbishment and love and care as it is a bit frayed around the edges.
Service is courteous and kind but breakfast on one occasion took over an hour, which is unacceptable for an establishment of this kind. No apology was provided. One accepts that due to covid-19 things aren't perfect but delays must be adequately compensated and communicated. One sensed that the morale of the staff was generally low. Perhaps a new manager is required to motivate and incentivise staff because they are hard working but seem depressed, which isn't a great feel for a holiday hotel.
Flies near the end table in the dining room need to be sorted as it is not hygienic.
Plus points are the restaurant which serves excellent seafood. Steaks are poor though and don't match the finesse of seafood dishes. Another word for the cleaning staff who appear to be always smiling and excellent at their jobs. Drinks were also very well made and the lobby is beautiful.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay with the hotel's ficent location. Just make sure you don't stay in room 20!

Stayed here for 3 nights in August with my partner. We’re a young couple who usually stay in more ‘modern’ hotels and boutiques, but when staying in the quaint seaside town of Cromer there was no need for all that fancy. This hotel was perfect, right by the sea and equipped with everything for a pleasant nights stay.
The hotel itself has free parking, offers great service - when we asked for a sea view they didn’t hesitate to find us a great room! The room itself had everything we needed and was very clean, as well as being cleaned each day we were there with no request. Yes the hotel is a little out dated, but that’s what we expected.
The location was spot on. Right by the sea, opposite the pitch and putt - £3 each! Only a two minute walk into the town, and right near the best fish and chips (No.1). Loads to do in Cromer, and highly recommend the end of the pier show - just wow! Quite a few pubs and one bar (that we found) to have some nice drinks in the evening.
Recommendations for the hotel for improvements would be a better bed, nothing wrong with the one we had but it was a shame that it was so low down and all it needed was to be higher so we could sit in bed and look at the sea in the morning. Social areas just need updating and a change in furniture and decor will make the bar and restaurant much more welcoming!
Overall a great stay, and we would definitely stay again!

At £200 a night, we were expecting a lot more from this hotel. The room was very dated, with a ripped curtain, shower that was either too hot or too cold and a window that rattled in the wind and had glass that was very thin, meaning the road outside was very noisy. The pillows were lumpy and not particularly comfy.
The breakfast was average at best and you had to pay extra for things like eggs benedict which is a bit much when you are already paying £200 a night.
Would have been a perfectly average £80 a night hotel, but was vastly overpriced and disappointing when paying £200.

Hi my mother sister and I stayed here for three days and had a lovely break. The hotel is very close to the front and to the main attractions in Cromer. It is hey late Victorian/early Edwardian hotel with lots of beautiful period features. The staff could not of been more helpful. We ate in every evening and the food was of a very high quality and beautifully presented. And all bedrooms have a Seaview and all well appointed with nice of facilities and very clean. My mother particularly enjoyed the lounge area where she was able to sit and read the paper in the morning. I love swimming and the hotel reception staff arrange for me to use the pool at a local hotel which really was going above and beyond. The only tiny Meant point I would make is that the leather sofas were a bit tired but everything was beautifully clean. My mum has mobility issues so the receptionist made sure that she was on the floor that was accessed by the lift.-Not all bedrooms are.

Had a 3 day walking break here last Sept (19), enjoyed it so much I've just completed another 4 day walking break (July 20). Despite enforced Covid break the hotel and staff are back to top form. The hotel is Edwardian but not showing its age; the staff are kind and courteous; the food is superb and I like the change from a fixed dinner menu for those on DBB to a dinner allowance of £25-great idea whoever thought of that giving the customer the chance to sample the full range of the excellent menu. For those who love all seafood you will not be disappointed.

Recently returned from a short stay at this Edwardian hotel and by and large enjoyed my stay. Once through the doors you are met by the impressive sight of the hotel lobby and main dinning room. Great sweeping Arts and Crafts style staircase of the lobby and beautiful stained glass windows with Latin mottos in the "West Cliff" dinning room. In fact most of the public areas remind you of an Agatha Christie novel and give you an impression of faded grandeur. The staff were very friendly and made me feel most welcome, and the food, although a tad on the expensive side, was very tasty with generous portions.
Unfortunately the rooms did not match the grandeur of downstairs 😞 The carpet, although clean, was quite stain. The window frames cracked with peeling paint and it was obvious that they hadn't been cleaned in a very, very long time. The walls badly needed a lick of paint to cover the scuffs and the bathroom had black mould stained grouting. All of this I could have overlooked had I had a good night's sleep, but the bed was sooooo uncomfortable with springs poking through and the pillows were so hard and flat it was impossible to get comfy! I did ask for new ones and housekeeping really did try, bless them, to find some but they said that they were all the same, and agreed that they were awful!!!
Because of this I'm sad to say I will not be returning...😞😞😞

Thank you for your comments. We are undergoing a full refurbishment over the winter period. The windows are cleaned every week but being opposite the sea they get sprayed with sand and salt every day and really could be done every day which, I am sure you understand, cannot be the case. Being an old building, every room is different so we always recommend calling the hotel direct to book if you have specific requirements. I can only apologise that you felt uncomfortable and did not enjoy your stay on this occasion. Thank you for your thoughts.
