After 1/4/21, when the genius governors of NYS and PA decided to punish small businesses by locking down their states, my lover and I were unable to travel from NYC to Amish Country for our annual January get-way weekend. But NJ was open, so we found the romantic Madison Hotel in Morristown NJ. WOW. What an unforgettable weekend at every turn. (1) That hot tub and indoor pool were like paradise, far from winter chill. (2) the superb Red Dog Tavern served a full menu, from steaks to vegan suppers. (3) The spacious room had a plush bed. When our TV did not work, we were quickly moved to a better room. (4) Next to the eye-candy lobby's cozy fireplace, the 24/7 computer terminal is connected to a no-fuss color printer. (4) Nearby Morristown was full of restaurants and wide sidewalks for strolling. Manager Scott McArthur out-did himself with hospitality, including reclining chairs for the hot-tub, and coffee/breakfast in the lobby. Despite covid, it was an unforgettable weekend. We will not wait till January to return to the Madison.…
My boyfriend and I checked in to the hotel for a 2 days. Upon arrival the bellman instead of greeting a guest was doing nothing, sitting at his chair and watching movies or shows. No hello, no welcome. In fact, any time we would pass by the bellman he was watching something instead of acknowledging the guest. Prior entering the lobby, we had to ring the bell, front desk lady asked what did we want when it was obvious we were checking in. Once again, no service at all. It was quite comical that employees of that type are actually working there. During the stay we called reception desk and asked about dinner recommendations, front desk response was simply: “we don’t know, due to C-19 everything is closed, we are not sure”. How this is possible, they were not able to recommend at least 1-2 places? Again, simply laziness. Who recruited and trained the employees I thought ..? Additionally, hotel is outdated looking and needs some TLC however the bed was very comfortable. Despite horrible service we both enjoyed sleeping on the bed. The coffee supplies were not sufficient for 2 people. The creamers and sugars were terrible quality. Also, there is no minibar available however the restaurant opens at 4pm. Overall, we are giving the hotel 2 stars. The entire negative experience was all employee related. Thanks …
My boyfriend and I come here a few times a year to celebrate special occasions. It is always a fantastic stay. We usually get one of their special packages which most recently was not available. I reached out to the GM and let him know we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday this trip and he went above and beyond to make sure it was a great stay. We also had a fantastic meal at Rods Steakhouse in their outdoor dining area. We can not wait to return.
YOU HEAR THE TRAIN ARRIVE AT THE STATION 100 YARDS AWAY 24 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS WEEK! I can't take highway and city traffic and fall asleep but the train whistle made me seriously twitch it was so loud. If I didn't prepay the room I would have gone back the other hotel I was staying in down the block. That alone makes this hotel intolerable. The previous reviews here and other websites talk about bugs which I thought might be an exaggeration until my last night there when I saw one crawling my suitcase. The hotel is ancient, probably over 70 years old in a plot of land which is semi-rural. Unless they invest in a professional exterminator they will never solve this problem. Arrived to a room that was 82 degrees. After 3 hours it was 79 & told the manager. Said the I had the settings incorrect, which was false. Told him I didn't want to unpack 5 suitcases and then find out it's broken an asked to be moved but there weren't any rooms which weren't 82 degrees. The AC was off in every room on a 90 degree day. They couldn't find another room for me where the AC was off. If you've ever heard of this, please make a comment. If they had a room they would have offered to move me but they didn't. That's horrendous and embarrassing. I should;not even had to go on writing the rest of the review. Two hours after I came back it didn't get any cooler and told them to cool up another room and by the time I took a shower and fell asleep it was 2am. The unit was circulating a foul odor from the unit. How this hotel can get a 4.5 is beyond me and trust me, I don't complain if you look at my most recent review of a hotel in North Brunswick. If you stay here, remember my review. I always keep it 100.…
