Detailed Reviews
So glad to be back for 3 nights from 3rd September. Safety measures were in place at reception and our room on the 2nd floor was appropriately sanitised. Even the TV remote was in a small ziplock bag so we could wipe it over before using. My Mum and I felt very safe. They have had a new lift installed and the hotel is clean, as always. Samantha on reception was lovely as always and even arranged a hot breakfast for us - she really does go above and beyond for her guests and always makes us feel valued. Our favourite place in Coatbridge, bar none.

Spent an overnight in the Mondo and was quite impressed, on this our first visit. While it is not quite five star, for example there is no room safe or room phone to contact reception, there are many plus points. For example:-
. There is an abundance of parking at no cost.
. The entire hotel was tastefully decorated and cleanliness was obviously a top priority.
. The room was adequate, in terms of size, and the bed was very comfortable
. The bathroom was excellent with 'top of the range' expensive hand and body wash products, namely Elemis.
.There is also what appears to be a very fine restaurant within the premises.
We had been invited by friends to eat in their house, so we did not dine in the hotel. However it was very busy for a Thursday night and seemed a very popular place.
The hot food at breakfast was well cooked and while fare on offer did not extend to yogurts there was a fairly good choice.
Two cautionary notes
a) There is a lot of stairs between reception and the 'top' car park (there are two), which could be difficult if carrying a heavy case for some people, particularly when ascending.
b) Breakfast is not included if you book 'on line'. Payment is taken in the restaurant.
Overall though I would have no hesitation in staying in The Mondo again

We chose to stay at The Mondo Hotel in Coatbridge as we were visiting the area to meet our new grandson for the first time after restrictions were eased.
It's on a busy road junction, so traffic noise would be an issue if you wanted to leave windows open.
They weren't fully set up in the restaurant to offer hotel guests a breakfast in the dining room and instead offered a picnic bag pickup from the reception desk.
I sit down breakfast would have been preferable but under the circumstances, it was ok.
The restaurant gets busy with lots of locals using it, so worth booking a table rather than take pot luck.
We had tables for 5.30pm and 5pm for the two nights we were there and were amazed to see how busy it was BUT the reason for this is that the food is GREAT!!
Service very good too!
The rooms are very small - we don't like to stay anywhere that doesn't offer a super kingsized bed and although this hotel did, we had to shimmy round one another to get by as the room really wasn't big enough to accommodate such a large bed.
That said the bed was VERY comfortable.
Nicely fitted out toilet/shower room and I was impressed to see Elemis soap and hand lotiin dispensers at the sink and an Elemis body wash dispenser in the shower (would have been nice if it had anything in it but we had brought our own shower gel anyway).
The staff are lovely and very helpful and despite the minor drawbacks described, I will be happy to go back again.

I stayed for one night while visiting a friend. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, the front desk staff very friendly. Shout out to Jorge who was very helpful.
The restaurant, which is attached to hotel, is a different story. It is notoriously difficult to get a table. I called to book a table the day before my stay but there were none available close to the time I requested, granted it was a Saturday. The chap I spoke to was quite rude when I said I was staying at the hotel and asked if there was any provision for hotel guests. He scoffed and said ‘They are different businesses why would we do that!’ You sir are a Mamamouchie!
The breakfast was very nice however the girl checking me in was a bit confused that I was charging the breakfast to my room. Is that not the done thing in these parts? Or more the case that she had to walk my ticket to the front desk so it could be added to my account, separate businesses remember!
It baffles me in today’s digital age where everyone is a critic that staff in hotels and restaurants are still rude and unhelpful.
Overall hotel lovely and comfy, food good but restaurant staff not very helpful and a bit above themselves for a hotel restaurant (separate businesses!) in Coatbridge.

As I booked into the hotel my temperature was taken which is not a problem but then it started I was asked if I would like tea or coffee in my room as I said yes I was presented with a brown paper bag with tea and coffee plus a paper cup and a wooden stirring stick so you get no proper cups in your room. If that wasn’t bad enough when I entered the room it was very dark, cold and noisy.
I wanted to use the toilet but the toilet seat was broken.
I returned to reception to ask if I could move which she obliged but yet again the toilet seat was broken in the next room I was given so not very good.
Also the corridors was dirty with debris of food I was told they have just taken the bins out from the kitchen and also cobwebs on the ceiling and they are worried about catching covid of a cup they want to learn to clean the corridors first.

We had a lovely stay at this little hotel. Very clean throughout- friendly staff too. The bed was really comfortable with lots of pillows.. well recommended! Although compact, the room had everything we needed - we were even given a little goody bag of coffees and milks for the coffee machine (nespresso I think!)

Fantastic hotel.
Have had several stays at this hotel, its convenient if travelling by train and is within walking distance, or only a few pound in a taxi.
The reception is always covered and the staff are really lovely, welcoming and extremely helpful. The breakfast staff are just as friendly and quickly tend to you, which is great when you’re heading off to work and dont have much time.
The rooms I have had have always been kept spotless, the beds comfy and made every day as well as fresh towels if needed and top ups of milk and drink items.
Theres a heater in the room which makes a change as air con irritates my throat, so you can have it nice and warm on the colder days.
A large walk in shower with plenty of room, good strong shower and Elemis Shower gel which smells gorgeous.
Its a great location with plenty of take aways / restaurants etc within walking distance, and just next to Asda, and a Tesco, M&S Simply Food and Greggs in the retail park just across the road. There is a restaurant in the hotel but run independently, but you can book at reception or via their website. The food and staff are also amazing, and there is a guest door into the restaurant.
Its now my regular place when visiting for work.

I had stayed at the Mondo a year previous to this stay and originally had a positive experience so imagine my excitement when I arrived at the hotel a second time. Check-In was simple enough and the rooms were clean. In my original stay the rooms bedside reading lights did not work so imagine my astonishment when I checked into a different room a whole 12 months later and found the reading light in Room 203 also not working. I had booked direct through the hotels website so was entitled to breakfast in the hotels restaurant. Having ordered the Full Mondo, expecting a full English/Scottish breakfast, I was left disappointed after being given a lukewarm breakfast consisting of just 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon and a fried egg (hard-boiled to within an inch of its life) rather unnecessarily stacked on top of some sourdough bread. No beans, black pudding, hash brown or mushrooms. As the Full Mondo didn’t fill me up I also asked for some cereal and a strawberry yoghurt but was informed that they didn’t have any yoghurt and that I would be charged if I had anything else. So I left breakfast very disappointed and still hungry.
Later that same evening I decided to have an evening meal in the restaurant but almost gave up as I waited far too long for my drinks and even longer for my starter which was just soup of the day.
So after thoroughly being fed up with the service at Mondo, the next evening I went to The Mint Restaurant in Academy Street and found a vast improvement in both food and service. The bill was also £11 cheaper so I would advise anyone to stay clear of the Mondo and have your meal at The Mint.

We had a lovely two night stay here when visiting for a local wedding. The carpark had plenty of space and the greeting in reception was excellent. Our suite on the ground floor was spacious with a good choice of drinks to include a Nespresso machine and plenty of milk jiggers. The room was clean and the bathroom had a large walk in shower. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and again for breakfast the next morning and both food and service were excellent. Unfortunately, during the first night, we were disturbed by a rather loud gentlemen in the room next door until he stopped shouting at his wife and passed out. We were also missing a second towel but within minutes of calling reception another was delivered. Having been at the wedding we didnt make breakfast in time the next day but with the 11am checkout it enabled us to get our heads together and make our way after a very pleasant stay. We look forward to staying here again.

There is a free car park but there are quite a few steps down to reception which wouldn't be great for elderly or those with mobility issues. The room was very modern, clean and comfortable. Great coffee machine. Very quiet at night. It was great having a dressing gown and slippers supplied. The reception staff were excellent. The breakfast was served from a menu rather than a buffet and the choice was good. Service was very good. Only complaint is the coffee was awful. We were served it in very posh looking coffee pots but were very disappointed with the taste. Despite having said that I would definitely use the hotel again.

Glasgow, United Kingdom132 contributions108 helpful votesWhere exactly is your parking?
Depending on how you approach the hotel.. I approached with hotel on the right hand side.. pass hotel and take 3rd exit on roundabout.. about 100 meters you’ll come to Asda on the left.. turn directly right then right again.. it’ll take you to the underground parking. If you park on the top you may get charged. Have a lovely stay 😀
Not in the room however they are available from reception on request
I suggest you give them a phone call. The restsurant/bar area is also used for breakfast and I assume licensing laws affect them same as pubs.
The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful and nithing is too much trouble. I stay yearly when I visit family and am never disappointed. How you have a lovely wedding.
