A comfortable, warm and welcoming hotel in the cantre of the village. Service was attentive and keen, but without being a pain. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the bar as we'd had a long day, no issues and great service. Opened up for breakfast a little early to aid travel, which was appreciated.

Enjoyed a bar meal on Saturday evening although we had to wait for some time for bar staff to come as there was a wedding on but there was a queue at the bar for some time before we got served. Food was good exceptional chips! Staff were friendly and helpful. Young couple asked for a cocktail to be told... More

I stayed at this hotel with my son and a party of friends for one night. We were greeted by the owner of the hotel who was warm and friendly and made us very welcome. We were shown to our rooms which incidentally were in the building right opposite the hotel ,a cottage style buiding which was warm and cosy... More

We have frequented this Hotel bar for a few years whilst on holiday and have always found the staff particularly unfriendly. This visIt was no different, as we entered the Hotel the owners/staff didn't acknowledge us or welcome us. I don't wish a welcoming party but a friendly Good afternoon is polite and what you expect from an establishment where... More

We stayed here for three nights in between Xmas and New Year when visiting family locally. The room was a very good size and clean, with a very comfortable bed (even without the more normal continental quilt). We were made to feel very welcome and breakfast was excellent. We will be back

Having had a disaster with our booked accommodation nearby we arrived at the royal looking for somewhere to stay at short notice. Happily for us the Royal had one room left, and was dog friendly. This turned out to be our lucky day. The room, room one, was superbly comfortable and best of all had an open fire laid up... More

Came here with my friends for lunch this is a lovely hotel with great ambience but the staff and food let it down badly we tried to order a light lunch ie a sandwich but the staff thought we were rather stupid to ask for such simple food! So we decided to have 2 starters!! And asked for some proseco... More

Lovely, charming hotel with good staff. Reminiscent of a hunting lodge. Room was characterful, cosy and clean. Had a nice dinner in the restaurant (bar has more atmosphere but it was full) and then you can either sit in the library which is gorgeous, or we ended up having a bit of an unintentionally wild night out in the public... We visited the public bar on Saturday afternoon which we do on a regular basis. I understand that it is a public bar but the music was turned up so loud it was like being in a nightclub and was impossible to talk to each other. My husband asked the barman if it could be turned down. He didn't answer... More
