Rosedale Manor Bed & Breakfast is a beautiful newly preserved waterfront home in the historic coastal town of Placentia, Newfoundland and Labrador. Your hosts are locals Christopher and Lori who have recently taken ownership of this glorious building. The gorgeous setting in this 1893 waterfront heritage home far exceed what you'd expect. All the rooms have period decor, antique handcrafted furniture, and Christopher’s original artwork. Relax in the dining room, linger in the library-sitting room or take your morning coffee or tea in the flower garden while enjoying the garden. There are two rooms with full ensuites on the main floor. We are pleased to offer two fully equipped suites on the upper level. Our comfortable beds are dressed with 100% cotton sheets, cotton blankets and locally handcrafted quilts. Our guest soaps are hand crafted by local artisans. All rooms have separate heat controls, fans and code-lockable doors.

It was chance and Hurricane Fiona that led us to the Rosedale Manor in Placentia. We stayed for 3 nights while waiting for our rescheduled Ferry crossing from Argentia to North Sydney. The delay turned out to be one of the highlights of our 3 week trip to Newfoundland. Chris and Lori are the hosts of a beautiful heritage home. Their family home is located on the same street so they were in and out frequently during the course of our stay. There are two rooms on the ground floor and two larger suites on the second floor. All are beautifully kept and decorated with the small details that make a house a home. Care and attention shows in every detail from hand made soaps and ‘treat’ baskets in the rooms to fresh flowers throughout the house. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed while still providing an elegant and luxurious stay; exactly the vibe you want when on vacation. Best of all is the pride and joy that Lori and Chris take in their community. The area is rich in history and is one of the first settled in North America. As a member of the local historical society and as an extraordinary story teller, Chris will bring this history to life for you while Lori, who has lived all her life in the area, gives authenticity to the modern culture of this unique province. Together they are wonderful ambassadors for this charming community. Chris and Lori, Rosedale Manor and the local area will not disappoint. One night is not enough!

What a wonderful two night stay here. Our hosts, Chris and Lori, were kind and thoughtful and you could see all the small touches in this B&B. A personalized handwritten welcome card, a comfortable bed with clean, soft linen, snacks in a basket in the room and a kitchenette with milk in the fridge for coffee (ground coffee, too)!
Soon after our arrival, Chris gave us and a couple from Georgia (USA) a tour of the church and O'Reilly Museum - we were the richer for it! And the breakfasts. The breakfasts! A basket filled with goodies - baked eggs wrapped in bacon with fresh croissants the first morning and a boiled egg, bread and sausages the next - along with muffins, juice, homemade jams.
You felt at home here wanting to stay longer...

Out of the several different places we stayed at in Newfoundland on our August 2022 road trip. Our night at the Rosedale Manor was by far our favorite. The Bed and Breakfast itself is absolutely fantastic and is in an immaculate preserved historic home but the real winner of our stay were the hosts themselves. Chris and Lori executed true, 1st class Newfoundland hospitality and set the bar at a very high level. They took of every little detail to accommodate their guests from the personal notes and complimentary snacks to the amazing artwork on the walls all done by Chris, homemade soaps in the bathrooms, every room given a name and a story behind it. They set us up for a little evening on the beach and shared their beach chairs, and firewood. The breakfast was award winning in my opinion, especially you would have things like homemade partidgeberry jam made homemade by Lori's mother. Right across the street you have a beautiful river and up the hill from there you will find Castle Hill historic site where Chris works his 2nd job. A great way to see and understand the French influence of the area. I would confidently highly encourage anyone coming through the area to spend at least a night or more at the Rosedale. You will definitely be glad you did.

We stayed in the spacious Rose Suite with a water view near a robin's nest. The friendly hosts, Chris and Lori, made our stay memorable—Chris even gave us a tour of the town. This heritage home is beautifully restored, and the customized breakfast, especially Lori's muffins, was delicious. Overall, it was an idyllic setting!

The best ever stay at such owner-run home style inn. The couple-owners,Chris and Lori, they live a few doors away so they are always there to take care of you. The inn may be the best preserved and renovated 19th century building in the unique landscape. The nostalgic tourists and home lovers will remember their stay there for a long long time. Located conveniently right by the water with a great long boardwalk in the middle of the town of Placentia. This B&B is well maintained. The place is tastefully decorated with many colorful paintings of NL nature and landscape. The chinaware, cutlery, coffee pot and other kitchen accessories are all of very high quality. Great bed coverings and comfy pillows. Breakfast is delivered to your door of your room, nicely packaged with hot pot of coffee in addition to the coffee machine in the room. The rooms or suites are of good sizes. We stayed in the Lupine Suite that gave a good view out into the water and beyond. Love it. Would go again. Highly recommended. Conveniently located to eating venues and scenic spots like the Castle Hill Historic Site and en route to Cape St. Marys or Cape shore towns like Branch and St. Bride.

Fully functional with french press, kettle coffee pot, microwave, toaster, with full fridge and freezer ( you could comfortably stay in this room for a week or more) . Comfortable bed, with tradtional homemade quilt. warm and cozy. Bathroom was spotless and room was exceptionally clean. Yummy breakfast with fresh muffin, yogurt, bagels, fruit, cheese, juice and snacks in the room. Great history in the area ....ask the owners, you will be amazed. Original artwork on the walls, I would have loved to have seen a price list. One night wasn't enough!

We cannot praise highly enough this delightful b&b. We agree with everyone else's positive remarks; there are just too many superlatives to list. The accommodation is first rate with every detail thought out and every need catered for; everything is of the highest standard and it is evident that Lori and Chris have put their heart and soul into updating the property. They are the most kind, generous and helpful hosts you would wish to meet. We were so impressed that we stayed there again on our way back to St John's airport. Very special people and a very special little place to stay. Just wish we could return one day.

Christopher and Lori thought of all the amenities for this beautiful B&B. We had self check-in and when we walked into our room there was a welcome basket full of treats and a personalized note. The room was large, clean and the bed comfy. Had our own washroom too. The inn is full of awesome artwork…by Christopher who is very talented. Breakfast was at 8am and we were treated to a basket filled with a hot bacon and egg round, bagels, homemade muffins(so yummy I asked for the recipe), yogurt, cheese, kiwi, homemade jam and orange juice. Coffee was available. We ended up taking most of it for our lunch that day. This location is also great if you are taking the ferry to/from Argentia. The owners are new and are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. They really care about making a success of this inn and we highly recommend it.

Sadly, while visiting Placentia, the early June weather was a bit cool and and the skies were grey. Thankfully, our wonderful hosts Lori and Christopher were absolutely warm, cheery and entertaining! Lori met us for check in and showed us around their beautiful property. The yard is stunning and the house itself is absolutely charming. The magic really starts when Christopher arrives. He is a wealth of historical information and a brilliant orator. We were fortunate enough to have him give us a tour of the church and the local museum. The history of the area is fascinating! Who knew Placentia has such a rich and fascinating history? OK, Christopher knows, and he loves to share his enthusiasm for the area, the people and the Province of Newfoundland! The Daisy Room where we stayed is warm and cozy, with snacks included, the linens are perfect for a great night's sleep and the bed is comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, although it was way more food than I require at my age, but hey, I'm on vacation! Right? You need to visit Placentia to learn the fascinating story of this beautiful place. If you're lucky, maybe you can hear about it from Christopher! Oh, and Lori's mom, " Elizabeth," makes the best blueberry jam I have ever had. Thank you, Lori and Christopher, for an extraordinary experience in your beautiful province.
