My wife and I had a great time relaxing for a few days in the standard cabin. It is "rustic" but clean. The woodstove kept the June evening chill at bay. Spend the extra for the wood fired hot tub, it is was the highlight of the stay. Takes 2 or 3 hours to warm up the water but it is well worth it. We also enjoyed the hikes in the woods.

Although we had wanted to come here for quite some time, we always found it difficult to commit so far in advance on a reservation. Luckily, my wife and I had a chance conversation with a friend of ours who was about to cancel her reservation but instead offered it to us. We just had an extremely difficult year, having placed my mother in a long-term care facility, and myself having gone through a serious health event in the last few months.
We arrived at around 5:30 pm on Friday evening. Mike welcomed us and provided a good summary of what 2 city slickers needed to know. In addition, he provided cleat straps for our boots because of the icy conditions in and around the property. Upon arriving at the Dream Dome, we were immediately impressed by the simplistic beauty of the premises. Although there was a zipper issue with the enclosure when we first got in the dome, I advised Mike immediately and he came right away to fix it. That settled, we got right to work on starting a fire in the stove for the hot tub. Mike advised that the stove would take 3 hours to warm the hot tub to 90degrees and sure enough, it hit 90 just before 9pm. We enjoyed the most wonderful hot tub experience that evening. The sky was totally clear and we could see hundreds upon hundreds of stars above us.
The next day we slept in until 10am, made some breakfast and lazed around, reading in the 2 very comfortable chairs facing the bed. After lunch, we went for a fantastic walk around the property on the 2 walking loops. Such a beautiful forest with not a sound to hear. Near the end, it was so special to see another couple skating on the quaint ice pond. Once back to our Dome, we got in the hot tub for another hour just as small snowflakes came down on us. Fondue Dinner followed in the warm, comfortable Dream Dome.
Sunday morning came and we only wished we could have stayed another day or two. This is a wonderful place for couples to unplug and reconnect. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

My girlfriend surprised me with this weekend getaway for my 50th birthday. It was right up my alley. She blind-folded me as we left the city so I wouldn't know where I was going. I was instantly immersed into pure tranquility when the blindfold was removed. She booked the Sky Dome as well as the hot tub. The air conditioning really helped through the hot & humid days. We prepared meals & snacks using the full kitchen and supplied utensils. There's even a propane BBQ available.

The unit was extremely clean and well-maintained. Full size bathroom as well as a loft with a view outside the roof window.

The weather was incredible. We had one brief burst of rainfall with thunder & lightning but it passed within 15 mins and it was really exciting being under the dome during that storm. No issues with mosquitos although the horse flies were persistent.

The wood stove to heat the hot tub was easy to light & maintain. Keeping the cover on the tub overnight allowed us to have a warm tub first thing the next morning even though the fire went out through the night.

There are walking trails on the property and there's a quiet pond with chairs and kayaks. There's one small spot on the property where you can get a WIFI connection and we loved it that way because it enabled us to fully unplug and enjoy the relaxation.

We will absolutely return, perhaps in a different season. This was one of those experiences that will forever remain as a wonderful memory.

The Ridgeback Lodge has a nice remote location without being too far from activities and the accommodations are wonderfully unique. The Sky View Dome provided a great view into the forest and was lovely to wake up to. I highly recommend the wood-fired hot tub add-on too.

I had no idea what to expect in a "Yurt" but this entire experience was magical. The property is stunning, the hosts are great people that make you want to come visit again and again, and the accommodations, besides being REALLY COOL are so comfortable! I never wanted to leave. I hope I'm lucky enough to be back one day! Worth the drive from Toronto...

Beautiful spot. Very private. A great way to reconnect. The wood fire hot tub is awesome. It does take 6 hours to heat in winter though.
There is a kitchen however no microwave or oven, only hot plates. It does the trick though. The pellet stove works awesome and keeps the dome very toasty. There is an iPad with short videos on how Everything works. So no worries if you don’t know how to run a pellet stove.

We had an amazing weekend here and will definitely be returning.

We went to the domes for a second year in a row. It was perfect. Last year we went in December, this year in November. We celebrated our 37th Anniversary this year. Can't wait to go again. Highly recommended. Had dome #2 last year with pellet stove and dome #4 this year with propane stove. These domes are so clean and comfortable I wanted to stay another day just to sleep. Great trails for walking and getting out in the fresh air. We played games, relaxed, drank a few "pops" and just talked with no distractions. If you want or can't live without TV (my hubby) download movies etc on your laptop and your golden. The hot tub is incredible. Start it as soon as you arrive and you will be in it before bed to relax and have the best sleep EVER! Don't over heat it or you won't be able to enjoy it. Just sitting in it and listening to nature, again with a couple of "pops" is the BEST therapy ever. We prep our meals and meal planned ahead. We took a cooler for extra drinks and left outside. Fridge isn't big but enough for the time you're there. It's just all so wonderful.

Tranquility, relaxation and nature. The question is what do you want in a mini vacation? A place that you leave the everyday roller coaster ride behind you? A place where your only worries are what to bring for meals and beverages, what books to read, when to doze off , when you should go outside and light your own wood fired hot tub, should I use the tub morning noon or night...or all of the above, when you should go for a walk on one of the trails or choose to let the mind go...
The hosts, besides being over the top obliging, have thought of everything you would ever need in your own dome. My only recommendation is keep it the way it is !

Wonderful experience. Loved the dome. Very clean and nicely appointed. Everything there to cook some great meals. Snowshoed through the trails, cooked some great meals and spent time in the wood fired hot tub. Definitely want to return in a different season and also tour this beautiful area of the province.

Is there an out door fire pit?
Answer from Advil

There is a community fire pit near the pond but there are no firepits adjacent to the domes.

Do you have AC in the dome?
Answer from Molly B

No, there isn’t AC in the dome. They do have a ceiling fan, but it does get a little warm and stuffy when it’s hottest (which was 70 degrees Fahrenheit when we were there in June.)
Answer from Mark P

The dome we stayed in had no microwave. There was a bar fridge, toaster, kettle, induction hot plate, French press.

Inside the cabin is an ipad mounted to the wall and it explains exactly how to start the fire. When the next guests comes they empty the water and replace with fresh stuff and keep the wood pile next to the cabin stocked. As for the coffee maker and toaster, yes to both. If you arrive and one or the other is not there for whatever reason, just go down to the office and ask.
