The Fox Motor Inn is a little jewel of a motel in Napanee Ontario. Sam and Jim are the hosts/owners of this motel and have been for the last 20 years. They greeted us in a welcoming manner when we checked in that set the tone for the two night stay. Everything about this motel is designed for maximizing the comfort of guests. Our rooms were meticulously clean and set up in a manner that made for ease of use. For example, there was a soap dish on the bathroom vanity. Countless times, at fancy hotels, this item has been lacking and I have had to pry the wet soap off of the counter where it was stuck as there was no soap dish. Upon entering the room, there was no wrestling with the door and luggage because of a mechanism on the top of the door that keeps forcing the door into your body while you are trying to get in with your luggage. In this case, when the door was opened and pushed back, it magnetically attached to something on the wall so that you could easily get in with your luggage and then close it behind you. The room was spacious with a rack to put your luggage as well as a closet area to hang your clothes. The lighting was excellent both in the main room and in the bathroom. There was a unique bedside lighting that made reading in bed easy to do without eye strain. Similarly, the lighting in the bathroom was bright enough to apply make up in the morning and there was also a light in the shower area. The bed was very comfortable with a variety of pillows. The room temperature was simple to adjust and responded quckly to any changes that were made. There was an additional blanket up on the shelf for those who might like even more warmth. The rooms were quiet at night with no disturbances out of doors. Jim and Sam have also made the outdoor of the property charming. There were flower boxes, lighting and seating on the lower levels that had a porch area. There are little cottages as well as a regular motel style units. We were on the second floor of the one building. There was access to that floor at both ends of the building. The motel is situated in a picturesque area with easy access to Kingston, Sand Dunes, Pickton and other areas. There is a restaurant across the road which was great for breakfast. Grocery stores are nearby. The downtown looks charming. I wish I had time to shop in some of the stores as their windows contained appealing items as we drove by on our way to our destinations. We had a great conversation with Jim one evening when we went into the office to tell him how pleased we were and ask a few questions about the area. When getting ready to leave, we also had the privilege of meeting Jim and Sam’s father and saw their mother nearby. He is a kind and gracious man who was there for his annual summer visit. He and his wife help out around the motel when they are there. After meeting him, it is sure easy to tell how special the whole family this is. I would strongly recommend this motel to anyone. Thank you to Jim, Sam and their parents for an excellent stay. We hope to return in the future.…
I was very very surprised by how lovely this motel is. Inside the rooms is lovely (bold colors, lots of lighting, very comfy linens, well laid out, large bathroom, nice towels, nice carpeting). Family that own/run it are very hands on, and lovely to interact with. Grounds are well kept, and the pool looked very clean. Easy to recommend it and will stay here again. No restaurant, but there is one across the street. It is on the outskirts of the town on a main road, but my room was very quiet.
I stay here whenever I am in town for business. It is in a lovely spot as I like to go out for walks when possible and I feel totally safe doing so. It's a family run business. The family is so lovely! The grounds and pool are kept in pristine order as are the rooms. I'd say it's a family type motel, which makes it quiet at night for sleeping. I would not consider staying anywhere else when in the area. I have suggested this spot to many folks who have been very appreciative! It reminds me of the motels from days gone by. Personal service. Small, quaint and nostalgic. Give it a go. You won't be disappointed.
Staff was very good and helpful, sharing info of events in the area. Rooms and facility’s clean and well cared for. Finding it silly that TripAdvisor has a minimum of 200 characters for expecting reviews, so these last characters are just to fill TripAdvisors nonsense.
Motel is located on Dundas Street West and about 10 minutes from the 401. Worth the drive Greeted warmly at front desk. Room was located at front of motel but street noise was not a factor as air conditioner was needed due to a heat wave. Very clean. All the necessary amenities. Quiet. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it.
The Fox Motor Inn is an excellent motel to stay along your travels at an affordable price. This is a family run motel. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. We had a mini fridge & microwave (which we did not use), WiFi excellent. The grounds are well maintained and clean. We enjoyed the pool. The staff and owner are friendly and accessible. Across the road is a good "family restaurant". Excellent breakfasts and coffee. We will stay here again and recommend it. The Fox Motor Inn is an affordable destination if you want to visit Picton & shop etc.
This was the last accommodation we stayed in during our 2 week trip to Canada. We stayed in a total of 7 different motels/B&B's and this was far and away the best. A number of places stayed in were very tired and weary looking and it was obvious in some that everything had been done on the cheap with attempts to be trendy failing miserably. The Fox Motor Inn was the exact opposite. Everything was clean and new looking (and a lot of it was new). All paths and driveways were professionally done, the grass was neat and well cared for and the room that we stayed in was very spacious and pristine. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The Fox Motor Inn is the type of motel that one hopes to find but very rarely does. If we were to return to Canada in the near future we would go out of our way to stay there again. Oh, I nearly forgot, there were also some very friendly longer term residents there as well. It all helps!…
We went here as a couple for 1 night and our room was super clean, bathroom also, bed is comfortable, there is a convenient fridge in room, microwave, tv, cofeemaker, and pool. The owners are super friendly, very attentionned to their guests and they helped us with all the indications on which beach to go and how to go at Sandbanks. We find they are easily acccessible 5 minutes off hwy 401 and only 50 minutes to Sand banks beaches. Lots of restaurants nearby. We will go back in August with the kids as we find this motel is the best in the area if you want to be assured to have a clean room and really good owners, and it's only 50 minutes away front magnificient Sand Banks beaches. You guessed right, we go there for the beach as we live in Montréal. No hesitation, this is your place to stay 😊😊…
We always stay at the Fox Motor in when we are in the area. We were visiting Kingston, and haven't found anything as nice, so we travel to Napanee for overnight. They used to include breakfast, and in my haste to book, I didn't read the fine print carefully. Breakfast is no longer included. The restaurant across the street doesn't open until 8 AM either. Covid has changed 'everything'. The website didn't mention it, but the room had a coffee maker and complementary coffee in it. Thank you for that.
Family owned and run with pride. If you put a cigarette out on the property, you would feel bad, extremely clean. We walked the whole place barefoot.Sam and his family really care, not like these corporate places. We would like cabina 112, with the bbq's right behind.Ya they have 4 bbq's.We have been talking about booking since we left. This place is that nice. We could stay with family, still prefer the fox motel. Most awesome trip.Fox motel made it better. Thank you very much, see ya next time.Merci Beaucoup.Muchas Gracias.
