Guests at Waterview on The Bay commend its spotless premises and the breathtaking views, although opinions on the rooms are mixed, with some finding them quaint but in need of modernization and more conveniences. The range of amenities, such as a private beach and heated pool, receive high marks, despite minor criticisms. The service garners universal acclaim, noted for the hospitable owner and attentive staff. While the hotel's location is a highlight, offering picturesque bay proximity, the value proposition is debated, with some questioning the cost given the basic offerings and outdated ambiance.

I stayed two nights and was impressed with the cleanliness of the average-sized room and amenities. The room was equipped with a comfortable bed, small TV with spotty service and VHS, wifi (functional), luggage rack, refrigerator, coffee maker, phone, extra folding chairs, fly swatter, an excellent private deck with a view of the grounds, and a shower with great water pressure. Soap and shampoo provided. The sink is outside of the shower/toilet room so not ideal if travelling with another person. The 200 series rooms are right in front of the parking area making it easy to load and unload. COVID protocols mean signing up for pool time (in 30 minute increments) and the campfire. No housekeeping during your stay which was not an issue. A short walk to a beach area and gazebo (chairs and loungers available), tire swing, horseshoe game, etc. There were no lounge chairs by the pool and the cheap plastic Muskoka chairs were uncomfortable. I also did not like the French bistro set on my deck, since it was uncomfortable to sit at just when I wanted to spend more time enjoying the view. Would highly recommend replacing the outdoor chairs and table. Would definitely return as it is good value for money and about 1 hour from Tobermory. A motel room with its own deck looking out to the water is a real gem.

Fantastic location. Only 5 minutes from Wiarton, 15 mins from Sauble Falls, 20 mins from Sauble Beach, 5 mins from Bruce's Caves, 50 mins from the Grotto and Little Cove and 1 hour from Tobermory.

Grounds were great: fire pit, pool, beach front, sand volleyball court, rec hall (videos to borrow for the VHS player in the rooms, toaster, microwave, large sink, and lots of small bbq for use with bring your own small tanks), lots of chairs and picnic tables around the property and well groomed lawns with beautiful flower beds.

Second floor rooms:(every room on site in the motel a little different based on the amenities and which floors its on) ours had a good size shower, queen bed, a few bed side dressers, nice size hotel fridge and coffee maker, hair dryer, 6 chairs one could use on the back deck which overlooks the beautiful grounds; wifi not great, tv with lots of chanells and a vcr to use.

Great price: our second floor room which has driveway access was only $145 on weekdays and $172 on weekends. We had two rooms on bottom floor with parking close by for our adult children: one with two doubles and shower and one with queen and big bathroom; both had fridge, hairdryer, coffee maker, dresser and bedside dressers; these rooms were $120 weekdays and $138 on the weekend, walk out to property and right beside the pool. Minimum 2 night stay.

Places to eat limited: Wiarton has been under construction for 2 year (plus the pandemic) so some businesses have not survived. We found a few places to eat in town though most things shut down early.

Wiarton Inn has great Chinese food with a patio and was open most days until 10pm.

Hungry Hanger at the Airport (only 2 mins drive from resort) had good food but only open until 7pm most nights.

Northern Confections for goods sweets.

Foodlands is a great groceries store only 5 mins drive on the main cross roads with 2 convenience stores right beside it.

Tim Hortons is always VERY BUSY.

Another place is Dockside Willies which others recommended though we never at there.

Effects of the pandemic: There have been restrictions in place at the resort for 2 years due to the pandemic including guests having to put our their own garbage. You have to sign up for a time slot for the pool and the fire pit. Nothing is too inconvenient. Buckets throughout the grounds for guests to sanitize the equipment/chairs after use for next guest.

Cottages: 2 or 3 bedroom, joined together; rentals from Sat to Sat

Waterview on the Bay is a hidden Gem. Located in Wiarton just a few minutes from the town center with a foodland, tim hortons, new orleans pizza and subway. It's a great hub to do day trips from. Tobemory is only 55 minutes away, singing beach 50 mintues, Sauble beach, 22 minutes, you can go explore the Bruce caves which is only 10 minutes away.
Great room categories to fit all. If staying on the bottom level you walk out to the pool or grass area to walk down to the lake.
A reminder to keep your humidifier plugged in during the day if it's durning the summer with high humidity as it can set up the fire alarm.
Everything was very clean and you could see how hard they were working to keep everything well sanitized.
At the moment you do sign up for a time for the pool and fire pit, to comply with social distancing. This seemed to work well, even if you didn't sign up and only 2 people in the pool you could join in. Trying to keep a max of 6 people in the pool unless your group was larger (came together)
Pool was spotless, chairs sanitized... nice view from the deck to look out at the deck.
The grounds are nicely kept! lots of space, very quiet, your own oasis. This year there isn't a beach however once in the water the bottom is sandy.
Great place to go and watch the sunset, or chill in the morning with a coffee.
lots of areas to go and just sit on a picnic table as well.
Sunsets are beautiful!
We stayed in room 101, excellent! my favorite would be 101 and 103. 104, 105,106 have 1 bed with futon and are a just a bit smaller. 104 is great with kids as it's right in front of the pool.
there is a nice mini fridge in the room, we planned accordingly to bring drinks, and snacks along with a few things to prepare for dinners on the BBQ's.
There is a picnic area with BBQ's and tables. well spaced out and disinfectant to wipe down if needed.
There isn't a lot of choice for restaurants however if you plan and go into foodland to pick up a few things, there is absolutely no issue.
We absolutely loved this place, it fantastic value for money, and the staff do go above and beyond whenever possible.
Great gateway to explore Bruce Peninsula.
We are returning in just a couple of weeks so we can finish doing the Grotto!
Thank you Emily and Tammy for a great stay!

We went with 2 other couples for 5 nights and we all loved this place. The location is perfect for day trips throughout the Bruce Peninsula. The rooms were very nice and clean. The only complaint is that the shower heads weren't the greatest! The common area provided the bbq's (3 or 4 small portable ones), microwave, toaster and large sink (you need to bring your own propane mini-tanks but some may be available as people leave them behind,as we did!). We had many nice dinners by the bbq's followed up with some good times by the beach area and fire pit. The beach area is very nice with beautiful views and crystal clear water. Nice wide open area behind the resort for walking. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. No ice is available but Foodland and a corner store are 2 minutes down the road. We would definitely come again.

Hubs and I stayed in 104 which contained comfy queen bed/ futon/ fridge/ coffee maker ( good coffee)/ tv/ pet friendly and was located in front of the pool.
Our neighbours in 103 and 102 had a better view of the manicured lawn plus mature trees along with a gorgeous direct breeze so we will book those rooms next time .
Up top are larger rooms, I imagine their view is stunning !
In the rec room we had access to the kettle, bbq and microwave if required .
I was hesitant to book the extra night as I’m super covid cautious but noticed staff cleaning and appeared to be very detailed about protocols .
A very short walk to the clean crystal clear beautiful bay which sits right on their property, comfy chairs were everywhere so we can sit on the beach , under the mini gazebo and enjoy lunch on the picnic table .
We were in heaven and wanted to stay longer, definitely returning !

No luck with a home but lucky with our mini getaway !
Thanks Tammy and staff :)

My partner and I stayed for the Canada Day long weekend (3 nights). We chose here primarily because the price was good considering the holiday/other motels in the Bruce Peninsula area and had good reviews. We loved the location since it was in a quieter part of the town but a quick drive to the Tims/Foodland, felt like a safe environment, and had its own access to a small beach area. There is a "mess hall" that has dishware, cutlery, grillers, kettles, and boardgames. We had a room upstairs and enjoyed watching the fireworks from the balcony. Would recommend getting citronella candles or bug repellent if sitting outside since the bugs are plentiful this time of year! The motel staff were friendly and helpful. Cleanliness of the room was satisfactory, other than mentioned below.

The cons: the room had a very strong, stuffy, almost unbearable mildewy smell when we first walked in. I suspect it was the carpet, since not only did it look like it hadn't been cleaned in years, but I imagine water would constantly get on the carpet after guests use the shower (which shared the same carpet as the bed). Tried out the air conditioner but it blew a cloud of dust on us. We decided to sleep with the window and door open to air out the room and to get some cool air.

Meticulously clean, smartly designed rooms. Stylish but classic. Super caring and attentive staff, but gave us our space. We didn't realize when we booked how much of a resort this is vs just a very nice hotel. Took advantage of the beautiful dock views, gazebo, water access, swing set, and the campfire. The property is big enough that you can enjoy each aspect without being all over the other guests. Our incredibly affordable room boasted a fireplace, large bathtub with jets, and a deck with water view. I can't recommend this place enough. Only tip is to get your data amped up because the internet is not terrific, and bring an alternative tv source as there is only cable in the rooms. Even with that, we had a great time watching cable, which we haven't done in ages. Very conveniently close to Foodland and Tim's for morning coffee and grocery supplies (there's a fridge), and a short drive to Spirit Rock and the Bruce Caves. We will be returning and bringing the kids next time.

I have stayed at this motel multiple times over the last few years. Most recently, I have had 4 stays of 3-4 nights each in May and June, 2022. I am a solo hiker looking for a clean, convenient and affordable location to act as my basecamp while hiking the Bruce Trail between Owen Sound and Tobermory. I also want decent wi-fi and a fridge and both are provided. This location and space are excellent for my needs. It's definitely a family friendly location with a popular pool, and also a small but lovely beach/waterfront space. Ownership/management has recently changed. I have been dealing with Mentor this year. He is professional, very friendly and accommodating. What a treat that he knows my name and asks me every time I see him how I'm doing and how today's hike went. I stay in the less expensive rooms on the ground floor near the pool and they are perfect for me. There are two stories above me which I'm sure have great water views.

Exceeded the expectations! Stayed for 3 nights in August with family , all three generations loved the experience from welcoming and attentive hosts to nightly campfires and star gazing on the lake shore, heated outdoor pool , great views from balcony and sun deck , picnic tables, bbq , lovely landscaping and clean rooms. It feels like a small resort , we had a great time and look forward to be back on our next trip to Bruce Peninsula.
Thank you Tammy and the staff !

We couldn’t believe how lucky we were when we arrived. Gorgeous spot on Bay in Wiarton. 20 mins from Sauble beach, 15 mins from Sauble Falls, 5 mins from Bruce Caves, 30 mins to Owen Sound and 55 mins from Tobermory.

The grounds were immaculate and the room was spotless. A true rustic resort: common bbqs, fire pit, water front, recreational opportunities, rec room with microwave and toaster, heated pool. hotels rooms have a front and back deck, small fridge, coffee maker and tv with vcr (lots of vhs choices in the rec room)

The water front at the Bruce Peninsula is outstanding. Ontario is so beautiful and this resort was welcoming.

Not too many choices for meals out In Wiarton. Had a good Asian food at the Wiarton Inn (patio available) and a few meals at the Airport which is 5 mins from Waterview.

Yes, definitely. We saw some pretty big fish (30 cm long) but I guess we didn't have the proper bait and didn't catch anything, but we saw them swimming by the dock and while kayaking.

There is no dining on site, there, but you aren't far from town. They do have vending machines, microwaves, not sure about the pool, they do cover it at night, though.
