We chose to stay at the Grand Wailea after reading the many great reviews. Boy were we disappointed! Although the property is very nice and the location is fantastic, there was never anyone around the lobby to ever help us with ANYTHING. No concierge (ever), no general lobby staff, no management member, nothing! On multiple occasions we needed help at certain times of our stay for things like arranging beach chairs, getting extra washing soap, recommending a great place to eat, etc, etc. But, there was never anyone around to help us. And to top it off the one and only fine dining restaurant they had on the property was terrible. The Wailea area has many great places to stay. I would definitely NEVER stay at the Grand Wailea property again!!!
We just made our second trip to the Grand Wailea. Our first time was in March 2019. When we walked in the front of the property, we were just as excited about how breathtaking it is as we were the first time. My 9 yo daughter said “we’re home” (I wish!) and my 13 yo son said “this place is so sick”. The grounds, pools, beach...everything is just stunning. We were lucky to get upgraded to a 9th floor ocean view room. We absolutely loved looking at the ocean and often seeing whales from our balcony. Yes, the rooms are a little worn but very comfortable, plenty of room and everything else makes up for it. We love this place. On this trip, we spent almost all of our time at the resort and misty in the pool area. We are many of our meals there. The food is excellent- although spendy and gets a little old just due to lack of options. We love the hot tubs and slides. We rented snorkel gear for the week. My husband enjoyed the work out area. Everyone on staff is so friendly and pleasant. The resort is doing a great job with all the COVID procedures. I was a little hesitant that it wouldn’t be as good as the first time. It was just as good if not better. We were so sad to leave. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else. We hope to be back in 2 years!!…
I can't express how wonderful our stay was with you! It was so nice to be back to our favorite Island and the most beautiful! We were upgraded to the beautiful Napua Towers and our view was spectacular! It was so wonderful to wake up and walk just a few steps to an amazing array of breakfast goodies every morning! Everything was spectacular and tasted delicious! The nightly cocktails and hors d'oeuvres were also wonderful and everyone was so kind and friendly and they always remembered our names! Definitely a wonderful experience being in the Napua Towers, I highly recommend staying in those accommodations! We've always stayed at Ho'olei because our family is so large. There was only three of us thing time so it was a pleasant surprise being able to stay in such a beautiful room overlooking the ocean with beautiful sunsets nightly! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you once again! The grounds are so beautifully maintained! We were able to enjoy the Friday night live Hawaiian music! I just can't say enough wonderful things about our stay! We've always loved staying at your resort and I think you've got the most beautiful property in Wailea! We were able to enjoy the adult pool as well, which is always a wonderful relaxing experience! Honestly can't say enough nice things about our stay! Thank you once again for making it a memorable experience for me and my family! We will be back again soon!! Mahalo!!…
We never felt welcomed. Major restaurants were closed. Only Bistro Molokini was open and always booked. No concierge to speak with in person. Water elevator closed. Had to wait in long lines to get chairs at beach or pools. They should have made our stay feel easy and relaxed. Super expensive for little amenities. Super disappointed.
The hotel is very large and has amazing gardens. The beach that is shared with the Four Seasons is amazing, clear warm blue water and soft sand. The food was mostly very good. The waterslides and lazy river are a lot of fun! The luau on our last night had a very good show with solid (endless) drinks and food. The downsides are that the main restaurant HumuHumu and the very cool pool grotto bar are still closed due to covid. Also, there was no food available after 9pm.
