As always a great experience. However, after leaving brunch we experienced anything but a good time. After waiting and seeing at least 5 others behind us at valent stand receive their vehicles, we learned that that could not locate our keys. This was only after my wife nnquired about wait, no one offered us an explanation prior, even though it was obvious we were waiting longer than walk up guests to get their car. After witnessing multiple workers sort through various baskets and not finding our keys I went through a basket to look for it. It was then that I informed rater aggressively by a valet worker who until then remained silent to not touch the keys. I informed him I was waiting far too long and was attempting to locate keys. That should have been the end of it, I left the precious key basket alone, that sat openly, unsecured on a counter. They continued on about my touching the key....rather the focus should have been on finding my keys that they misplaced. No where near a good customer service experience. As the last customer facing aspect for those frequenting the property, thus is disheartening. My family as a whole hope's management takes this seriously and addresses accordingly. …
Where to begin. This is an over the top exceptional resort. They have more than 5 pools -I lost count. There’s an adult pool, a lazy river, a 2 story slide, a Tarzan rope swing, and more. There’s a wing dedicated to beautiful shops on the resort grounds. The Shops at Wailea are across the street. There’s many choices for food, snacks, drinks, ice cream etc. The team working the valet hustles. I have not waited more than 5 min for my car yet and the hotel is currently at capacity. The hotel has fireworks at 9pm that are amazing on certain evenings. Definitely check this place out and check out the deals they offer.
Accomodations, dining, and activities were excellent but the staff really sets the Grand Wailea apart. We were celebrating our son's 6th birthday and went down to the pool to teach him how to swim. Unfortunately, we forgot our floatie at home and were unable to purchase another. I came upon pool manager Cherese and asked if there might be one left over from past guests that we could use. Hearing that it was our son's birthday trip and was learning how to swim, she went out of her way to find one for use but to no avail. Later in the day she came back and asked us to come see her the next day. Upon arriving she provided our son with a swim tube and a satchel full of coloring pens, playing cards, a windchime and a little bear in a swim tube. Our son was overjoyed. She also made a list of swimming activities (holding ones breath under water for a few seconds) and told our son if he completed the list he could come back the next day for a prize. We completed the varous items and went back the nexdt day for three candy leis and a candy gift for our son. Cherese went out of her way to make our little family celebration so special and we cannot adequately express just how touched and blseed we felt. Many thanks to Cherese and all the staff at Grand Wailea who made our vacation so special! Mahalo nui loa! A few additional points: the Loulu burger available for in-room dining was delicious, the breakfast buffet had a good selection and wonderful view, and the pool bar staff were so kind and provided a good pour. …
Epic resort on a beautiful beach in S. Maui. Snorkeling was fantastic, rooms were amazing! Resort renovations are on-going but the renovated rooms are absolutely beautiful. The gym was the largest, most impressive gym I've ever seen in any hotel...as good as most high-end stand-alone gyms. The pools are epic! Slides, lazy river, adults-only pool, keiki sand pool; the kids were in heaven. Can't recommend the Grand Wailea enough!
Amazing and magical! The breakfast package was the way to go. Beautiful grounds and large rooms with incredible views. Well maintained. Only complaint was getting beach chairs on beach. Bad process there. Who wants get up at the crack of Dawn just to get a seat!?!
Inconvenienced by construction noise daily, huge conventions booked at the hotel, and staff not accommodating for the price of my stay. It seemed to be more commercial and less high end and enjoyable.
We really enjoyed our return visit to the Grand Wailea. The location is awesome, the pools and beach are stellar. The entire facility is immaculate; from the rooms, to the shared areas, to the spa, to the pool, and everywhere else. Just a few complaints... primarily the beds are way to soft, and the pillows flatten to nothing (we ended up purchasing our own pillows while there); and honestly the food and beverage is way overpriced. I get it, your in Hawaii, so expect to pay more, but seriously, $20 - $25 for a cocktail is just out of hand. As a Hilton Diamond member we get a $25 per person per day food and beverage credit, which in the rest of the world would be great, but at this place it can't come close to covering breakfast (which is what it is supposed to do). Oh, and although I wasn't surprised by it, but $50 a day for a resort fee doesn't cover the $65 a day parking fee (self park is not an option). So loved the place, but bring your own pillows and some extra cash. Oh and definitely stop by the Grotto and get a drink or two from Wayne and Tim. They are top notch bartenders ... they make awesome drinks (albeit expensive) and are extremely friendly.…
Good Resort in Maui but food options for International travellers are very limited. locations wise excellent and so is ambience. From most rooms its a panoramic view over pacific and it also has a chapel in the lawn. wonderful place to spend vacation.
Stayed at the Grand Wailea for 6 days from the end of Feb to the beginning of Mar. For a 5 star resort, the overall experience was ok, but inconsistent, and depended heavily on the person providing the services. In terms of the hard product, the resort was going through renovations and that meant that there was a lot of construction noise during the day, which translated into an inability to take afternoon naps, etc... we managed to change rooms 4 nights into the stay so that helped a little. Unfortunately, this came very late. On the positive side, we were there with our young kids, and they thoroughly enjoyed the pool. I would recommend the provision of a kid's club to complement the overall family experience. In terms of service, the Japanese speaking concierge team's service was top-notched. They happily engaged my kids while we were asking them about some stuff. The valets were also very helpful and prompt with their service. Occasionally, the front desk and housekeeping kept up a high level of service. Sadly, the level of service provided was inconsistent. On one occasion, my family was napping in the room and the house keeper opened the door and walked right into the room to "check" if she could tidy up. This was despite us repeatedly asking her to come back later. A situation like this at a 5 star resort is simply unthinkable. Overall, the experience was ok, but I hope that the Grand Wailea will improve on the overall experience to make it consistently 5 stars.…
My wife and I had the pleaure of 10 days at the Grand Wailea Waldorf Astoria for her birthday. The location was incredible - one of the few properties with direct access to the beach right in front of the hotel. While the spa was closed for renovation, they were still able to provide an amazing massage on property and direct us to nearby properties where we could use spa facilities. The bars and restaurants on site were all first-class with amazing dishes and drinks and the gym was an amazing two-level arragement with every piece of equipment I would hope for, including a full range of kettlebells and a TRX. The hotel was also less than a five-minute walk to a nearby mall with high-end stores and affordable everday supplies. The greatest past of the entire trip though was the remarkable staff. Every person, and I mean every person, we interacted with from the hotel during our stay was incredibly friendly, supportive, and helpful with every question or request we had. Miho on the concierge staff provided some of the best service we have ever had from a luxury hotel. She went above and beyond helping me to arrange multiple surprise flowers for our room, recommending amazing activities (and even arranging a second arrangement of my wife's favorite flower from the first bouquet with just a few hours' notice on Valentine's Day so my wife could continue enjoying them through the second half of our trip). Miho also provided thoughtful and conscientious follow up to make sure we were satisfied at every step of the way. While our interactions at other properties were always pleasant, our experiences with everyone at the Grand Wailea were somehow a cut above everywhere else and is the primary reason we will be returning to this resort. They made you feel special every step of the way (which can be a difficult experience to find these days) and they made it seem effortless throughout. Truly 10 days in paradise.…
