WOW! Talk about the vacation of our dreams. I stayed with my boyfriend Mason and best friend Antonio from college at the Grand Wailea. We got a great complimentary upgrade to the Napua floor, with an ocean view. The resort pool and slides live up to the hype, and the beach was a perfect place to watch the sunset. Perhaps the most memorable part of the vacation was the staff. We became friends with so many there, between Zenith (who makes AMAZING drinks at the Napua bar), Erno, Joe, who all provided exceptional service. On the pool deck, I made friends with a female employee (who’s name unfortunately I cannot remember) who turned a simple towel pick up into a fascinating chat about my Filipino heritage and her family’s ties to the Filipino community as well. Though I can’t remember her name, I remember she wore a beautiful golden necklace bearing her family’s crest. I have to give a very, very special shoutout to an employee named Armi—she was the kindest, most considerate, and happy-go-lucky person I met on our entire trip. On mornings when my boyfriend and I woke up early and ate together, she would greet us with a smile and strike up great conversation. Always focused on great service, she not only helped us with our table, she also made great recommendations on what to try there and around the resort. Truly, she was the hardest part to say goodbye to—I made sure to ask her for a picture before I left! I 100% plan on coming back one day when the stars align, and hope to see the great staff and their smiles again soon. In sum, if you are going to Maui—or Hawaii really—you HAVE to go to the Grand Wailea, the absolute best paradise in the world!!

We just made our second trip to the Grand Wailea. Our first time was in March 2019. When we walked in the front of the property, we were just as excited about how breathtaking it is as we were the first time. My 9 yo daughter said “we’re home” (I wish!) and my 13 yo son said “this place is so sick”. The grounds, pools, beach...everything is just stunning. We were lucky to get upgraded to a 9th floor ocean view room. We absolutely loved looking at the ocean and often seeing whales from our balcony. Yes, the rooms are a little worn but very comfortable, plenty of room and everything else makes up for it. We love this place. On this trip, we spent almost all of our time at the resort and misty in the pool area. We are many of our meals there. The food is excellent- although spendy and gets a little old just due to lack of options. We love the hot tubs and slides. We rented snorkel gear for the week. My husband enjoyed the work out area. Everyone on staff is so friendly and pleasant. The resort is doing a great job with all the COVID procedures. I was a little hesitant that it wouldn’t be as good as the first time. It was just as good if not better. We were so sad to leave. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else. We hope to be back in 2 years!!

We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay at the Grand Wailea. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the location is fantastic. The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. Most greeted us by name and were eager to assist in any way. I feel our experience could have been even better if all restaurants and bars were open with more hours available. Limited hours and services and the lack of a destination restaurant somewhat diminished the experience. Also the need to stand in line each day to get a wristband and towel to enjoy the pool is somewhat of a let down. The wait in line was short , thankfully, during our stay as the hotel was not busy. Having read reviews from guests during higher occupancy clearly it’s a big issue. Perhaps they could come up with some improvements to their wristband system. Overall it was a great stay and we hope to return in the future.

Do not go to this property now. It needs to be rehabbed and the rooms are NOT worth $900 a night. My room was terrible. Headboard was fake leather and was chipping into my hair when I rubbed up against it. Also, there was mold in my shower under the clear calk and ubove. Tile grout in walkways are missing. Main dinning room is closed along with signature restaurant Huma Huma is closed. Pools close at 4pm. Luau was boring we got our money back at $400 a couple. Most visitors to this luau said the same. The main guy talked way too much and not enough fire dancing. BORING put us to sleep and food was terrible. My sister had a fall walking on the walkway due to man mopping with no sign at her end. We were very disappointed and have been coming for years

I was amazed how big the Grand Wailea Resort is with its impressive pools, and statues. When I arrived I got lost trying to get from a elevator that I took to the Front Desk. I was asked where I was when I called, and stated that a Headless Woman with a long white dress was in front of me. Then I got directions to the Front Desk. The next day I saw another Headless Woman with a long white dress near the Bistro Molokini outside. It seems that those statues were made by a local sculptor K Ken Shutt. He also sculpted another one with three Headless women with long white dresses that is located at the Four Seasons Resort located near the Grand Wailea. I enclosed pics of the statues at both locations, and other things that impressed me at the Resort. The staff was very friendly, and attentive towards me especially Jaime who got me some Malasadas kind of a Portuguese donut. Also, Daisy at the front desk, Rebecca from the Concierge team, and her Japanese female co-workers were very helpful, and wanted me to have a enjoyable stay. I was very impressed with a Filipina woman who works early in the morning at the Bell Valet desk. She always remembered my name, and was very friendly. The bed was comfortable, and I never heard my neighbors nearby. I was surprised that they do not have Waldorf salads at this Waldorf Astoria resort as it was invented at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. When I got lost, and could not find the 6th floor on the elevator I looked for a phone in the Fitness Center but, did not find one so I went to the Food and Beverage office nearby. Shane the Asst. Food and Beverage Director saw me there but, I did not see him. I met him a few days later when I was waiting to go on a tour. He was very helpful making sure that my box breakfasts were ready on time, and correct. I mentioned the information about the friendly hostess at the Bistro Molokini in a different review. The resort just started their Luau again. Their free shuttle to MonkeyPod restaurant is not operating now but, if the staff has time you will be taken there.
