The grounds of the resort are lush, tropical and peaceful, great for a walk around during the day or night. At night the paths are light by tiki torches for a true tropical feeling. The resort is very quiet and you can hear birds when the windows are open.
We were close enough to see the kids pool from our room, but it was never loud or noisy. The kids pool is usually pretty quiet and there were times when there was no one even in the pool. The kids pool at the Villas is the best kids pool we have been to, as the area around the pool has a tropical feeling.
The beach is stunning, soft sand, and small waves for the most part. The beach chairs and umbrella service make a day at the beach very enjoyable and relaxing. The beach is long enough to get a nice walk in from end to end.
While there are no restaurants on the property, that didn't matter as there are lots of amazing restaurants all within walking distance (3 hotels nearby and the shops at Wailea are next door). We cooked a fair amount of meals at home as we have young kids, and also so our vacation wasn't crazy expensive because of eating out all the time. I don't usually like to cook on vacation, but we had the great table for 4 on our large patio that there was never a wait or reservation needed to get to on time. We didn't use the BBQ on this trip, but have in the past and it is super handy to have your own BBQ on the patio. There was also a day bed on the patio that was lovely to lay on and hang out with my husband on after the kids went to bed.
The staff are all extremely friendly and many have worked at the resort for years. We have been coming to the resort for years now, it is that good!
1) Wailea beach location
2) Villas themselves are spacious with good sized lanais
3) Great ocean view
4) Friendly checkin staff and provide Globalist members with a bottle of wine, banana bread and a couple of small toys for the kids in our party
CONS
1) All of the furniture is very much worn out and need of refurbishment and replacement. Lumpy beds, completely worn out couches with no support. Drawers in bedroom chest make loud screeching noises every time you access. Master shower head is below my head (i'm 6 foot 2) as used to be the standard in hotel rooms through the 90s.
2) PH 301 is along the property wall with the Grand Wailea next door. The Grand Wailea has their garbage dumpsters right there and starting at 8 am every day you hear loudly and see tractors bringing garbage to dump into the big dumpsters
3) While this is a condo rental property so not expecting daily housekeeping- one of our little ones had an overnight accident so we needed a new set of sheets for one of the beds. We had to call housekeeping multiple times and being told everything from they don't have a replacement set of king bed sheets (really??!?) to housekeeping is not till Sunday.
Overall, none of these things a deal breaker and i wouldn't be making a big deal out of them if it was just a regular vacation rental on VRBO or Airbnb. But as a hyatt globalist, was expecting a truly premium experience when paying almost $2k/night for a 3 bedroom ocean view villa at this property.
The property is lovely and just what you would picture Hawaii would look like. Beautiful waterfalls, amazing pools, and lit tiki torch pathways leading to a beautiful adult pool and beach. There is a up-to-date workout room and a game room with a pool table and ping pong table, however it closes at 6pm (a little early IMO).
Jay and the rest of the guys work hard at the pool, providing towels and water throughout the day. The property is kept extremely clean, especially the restrooms by the pool.
The location of the property is fantastic being the closest accommodation to the shops of Wailea. Loved the open air lobby and all the front desk staff were friendly and helpful when needed. There is free parking which is nice as well.
I would not hesitate to visit the Wailea Beach Villas, and we hope to return soon.
