Nestled in Maui, the Fairmont Kea Lani captivates guests with its vibrant, culturally rich atmosphere, complete with lush surroundings and live music that accentuates its elegant charm. The suites are celebrated for their generous space and thoughtful design, although some guests have noted occasional noise and maintenance issues. While the hotel's cleanliness and diverse amenities like pools and dining are highly regarded, there have been suggestions to refine service and upkeep.
While the staff's warmth and professionalism are often highlighted, travelers sometimes find the cost steep, questioning the value. Nonetheless, its enviable location near pristine beaches and local attractions is unanimously appreciated.

Great stay at the Fairmont in Wailea/Kihei. The property itself feels fresh, updated and grand from the moment you approach the entrance and enter the open air lobby. The staff are welcoming and friendly and clearly here to please. For ease of reading, I’ll break down my review in two sections:
The Good: *Beautiful spacious, modern and stylish building. *Guest Rooms are so inviting, sound proofed and spacious which is typical of Fairmont. The lanai is also very generous with space. Love their bathroom including perhaps the best make up mirror I’ve ever used. Smart lighting throughout with dimmers and or photocells. The bathroom itself has a photocell based nightlight as well. TVs are both very large and comfortably placed. Ample power ports through the room. Mini fridge and microwave is a major plus! *the restaurants on property are varied and high end. I dined at and truly enjoyed Nick’s and loved it as well as the lobby sushi/bar. *the location is prime - walking distance to Shops At Wailea and neighboring resorts if you so desired to check things out. *private beachfront cove with plenty of space for lounges and recreation *pool area outside offers lots of grass covered space in between the pool and beach. *hotel staff are all so friendly and outgoing. Always greeting you with an Aloha which makes such a different. *self parking is super close, convenient and free! Valet is $40/night.
The Needs Attention: *their main pool is large and nice featuring a water slide however it does feel somewhat dated as does the pool deck itself. 90% of the pool deck on the main pool is only available as a cabana rental which is really lame especially after paying $$ for your room. You can get free lounges but they’re the cheaper lounges and pushed way back on the grass - not even near the pools. No bueno Fairmont. You guys gotta think that one stat. *the concierge team members probably need to be better oriented to Maui and its activities. Every time we asked a converge, they had this look of fear on not knowing the answer while they feverishly started Googling. We’re talking about questions like where we could see turtles on the beach. Not complex folks.
Overall this is a top choice in Maui. Trust me I have stayed at numerous location s and used to live in Maui. You’ll be happy with this property just keep in mind it can be overwhelming without of control kids with parents who look the other way. Otherwise a great property all around.

We visited the Fairmont for our family vacation in July. We chose this hotel because it had great reviews but mostly because they have all suite rooms which can accommodate our family of 4. There are two teenagers in our family so we need the extra space a regular hotel room won’t provide. For a competitive rate, we got a room with 2 double beds, living space with table and two chairs and a sleeper sofa. The bathroom is also accessible from the living space and the bedroom, with private toilet room. We thought we would be struggling with one bathroom but it really was not inconvenient. We just had to be more organized about bathing times. One thing to note, the lobby is currently under construction so there is little to no ambience in the temporary lobby area. We went to dinner at the Four Seasons and they had a lobby lounge with live music. I think the Fairmont would really benefit from this type of entertainment in the evening. Once you leave dinner, there is nothing to do but go up to your room. This is a big miss for me. With that being said, one thing that stands out is the service at this hotel. Everyone is kind, helpful and attentive. I don’t have one complaint about service here, and I have been here for a week. Housekeeping does an amazing job keeping the suite clean and tidy. The front desk is attentive. The restaurant staff goes out of their way to serve you. We have allergies in our family and everyone went the extra mile to check food ingredients, etc. At dinner, many offerings can be prepared without allergens. The department that really stood out for me is the concierge. I have been working with them two months prior to arrival to help with tour bookings and restaurant reservations. They always got back to me promptly and were so helpful. It’s hard making restaurant reservations because it’s busy season and they helped find options for us. They truly went above and beyond and deserve acknowledgment. As far as restaurants go, I strongly recommend Ko, Spago and Monkeypod. All three were delicious! Tommy Bahama is nice for a casual dinner or happy hour and is located at the Wailea Mall. Overall, I am very happy with this hotel and its staff.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Pros: -We traveled with two little kids. This was a very good hotel for families. They had a nice kiddie pool, beach and pool toys easy to purchase and kids under five eat free at most of the restaurants. They also gave us cribs, diaper pail and baby bath tub which was appreciated. -The rooms are recently renovated - very spacious and nice. -Beautiful lobby. -the beach was nice and calm -they offer a free complimentary shuttle to anywhere in Wailea which was helpful and convenient. -free laundry machines though you have to purchase detergent at the market. -breakfast buffet had a good variety
Cons: -on our day of checkout, we called ahead two hours in advance to schedule a bellman to help us with luggage. Not only did they never show up but they didn’t even answer the phone when we called a few times in the next 15 minutes. This resulted in a very unnecessarily chaotic check out experience. -Gym was okay, not great. It wasn’t as big as it needed to be for the number of guests trying to use it. The AC in the gym was completely insufficient and barely improved after we complained many times. The humidity and lack of AC felt unsanitary. They didn’t have many fitness classes either. -the onsite market was horrible. There were long lines at most times and the service was extremely slow. They had almost no snacks available for purchase, really only chocolate gifts and a few bags of chips. -the beach staff were extremely unfriendly. They also packed up the chairs very early in the afternoon which felt very abrupt.
Overall, we would come back because the suites were so appreciated but I hope management can address some of these concerns.

We have been going to the Kea Lani for 28 years. It is a beautiful property. There are several pools, one has a water slide, one is adults only. The beach is very nice and we feel safe swimming there. Beach attendants will set you up with an umbrella, chairs and towels. Restaurants are good , we have had great food at all of them.
Every room is a suite with a separate bedroom, huge bathroom, microwave, small refrigerator and large balcony. Housekeeping is excellent, one lady in particular named Lani works very hard, she has been working there as long as we have been going and does everything possible to make us comfortable and happy.
We are already booked to go back this coming January and can’t wait. Mahalo for many happy memories.

The stay was nothing less than perfect. To describe a few things which made it so, 1. The private resort beach which is never crowded with beautiful Hawaiian sunsets 2. The breakfast buffet with so many options to choose from keeping you from getting bored of the food. I especially recommend the pineapple here. 3. Easy access to small items such as sunscreen, hats etc in the shop below 4. Unlimited supply and availability of towels for everytime you go for a swim along with reef safe sunscreen in case you want to go snorkeling 5. A separate adult only pool for easy swimming without running into a lot of kids. 6. The very friendly and available staff.
These just touch the surface and things I can think off the top of my head which made my vacation amazing.

We had stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani in 2016 and 2018 and loved the experience. The staff there is so warm and welcoming and the property was so peaceful. We had read the hotel was under construction so we took a break and then finally returned last week to the newly renovated hotel. First off, the rooms: wow! On our previous stays we loved the space, but felt the room could have been updated. Well the updates they made are phenomenal! The rooms are 5 star! Housekeeping does a fantastic job and is so friendly! We truly loved the new lux feel of the lobby and enjoyed the new lobby bar (bartender Leslie took great care of us!). Ko looked the same but dinner here was far better than I remembered and we loved our server Misty.
Where the hotel was lacking was mainly the pools and breakfast buffet. Pool service was a little slow but never terrible, they mostly very friendly. Pool furniture on the adult deck was in need of replacement. The only real disappointment was purchased the breakfast included package and ultimately really wished we hadn’t. While it did look like the space had been renovated, and the offerings were much better than I recalled they were so terribly short staffed. EVERY SINGLE visit we were well into our meal before we could get coffee and water from a server. Once a manager brought us water and we never saw our server until it was time for them to drop the tab. Gratuity was included so I suspect maybe they chose to neglect us because they were inundated by other tables?? Our servers each day looked like they were so extremely overwhelmed. We noticed we weren’t the only tables begging for water and coffee. I know there’s a labor shortage but when you’re spending $1200+ on a room you expect the service to match that price. The regular price buffet is $55 and I can assure you if I hadn’t prepaid we would have not returned. We walked over to the neighboring Four Seasons for our last breakfast because we were tired of starting off our day feeling frustrated. Fairmont, please do better!

Hotel is nice . Rooms are clean. Front desk Staff is not the most friendly. Rooms are nice size. We got a room facing the parking lot and couldn’t really enjoy the view or seat outside due to noise, dust and the smell of fried food coming from downstairs. Balcony was unkept and no flowers were planted in the flowerpots hanging from the balcony. Seems like we got the worse room they have even tough we payed top dollar for it, and hotel was in no way at capacity. Pool food is extremely expensive for what you get. We dinned at all the restaurants and staff was friendly, and food was good. Guys at the valet parking were also helpful and friendly. Just underwhelming overall for a Fairmont brand.

Everything was top notch from arrival to departure. Greeting was warm ,friendly and professional. Upon check-in we were offered the ability to upgrade to a corner suite which we took advantage of for a discounted increase per night. Well worth it! Amazing views, spacious Lanai, well appointed. Entire staff we encountered was friendly and very professional. Restaurants were fantastic, pools, jacuzzi, ocean. Everything was amazing. We will be back!

We stayed at Fairmont Kea Lani during Thanksgiving Week. This was our first resort stay since 2019 and we really enjoyed the beach, pool, room service and overall comfort and beauty of the resort. The staff was amazing! I wish we could have stayed 10 days instead of 7, just as we were really relaxing it was time to leave.
I think the room decor looks fresh, everything is palm themed. They offer rose scented Le Labo products and I love the showers and double sinks with a long ledge for our toiletries. The pull out sofas seem comfortable enough for our 10 and 8 year old.
Polo Beach is gorgeous. The sand is like powder and waves were calm most of the week for snorkeling however we did get some swells the last few days perfect for boogie boarding. I think the resort could do more to offer buckets and shovels to borrow. Each visit we buy 3 boogie boards and sandpails and shovels. Seems extremely wasteful for a beautiful resource such as Hawaii to have to manage plastic after we leave. They used to have signs discouraging people from saving chairs, they seem to be gone.
The buffet is one of my favorite parts of the stay. The food quality is still outstanding. They aren't offering an omelet bar anymore due to COVID. When we first arrived, we were escorted by a staff member who picked up tons and placed food directly onto our plates. A little weird, but they were very patient and friendly. $50 per adult and half price for our kids under 12. They un-officially close the buffet area at 11:15 so we arrived each day at 10:30 and treated it like brunch. By the end of the week they allowed guests to wear a plastic glove and self serve. If you want bagel or toast you order from your server.
For some reason we thought the $18 cocktails were underwhelming at the pool and Ko. We drank mostly Maui beer. The kids' food at the pool was really good, our kids loved the chicken tenders and fries. Sad news, there was no shave ice vendor! I miss afternoon shave ice by the pool.
We had a problem with room assignment the night we arrived. Our family of 4 was assigned a wheelchair accessible room, without a separate enclosure for the toilet. We are returning customers and we booked 4 months in advance so I had no reason to expect anything less than the usual standard ocean view suite. By mid-afternoon the next day they moved us to a proper oceanview room with the traditional bathroom setup. This burned our first night and first half day. If I stay at Kea Lani again I will probably call in advance to confirm the room...
We look forward to staying again!

The hotel grounds were beautiful, though we were disappointed with the overall service. We ate at a few of the restaurants and service was slow, calling for your car and the response was slow, the overall attitude was just okay not a place I would recommend to family and friends to for the $$$ you spend.
The Browns deli did stand out with their smiles each morning. You do receive a Fairmont promoting steel water bottle for each guest and fresh water dispensers on each floor.

I agree with everything Betty U said in her answer. The next time we go to this island, we will choose the Four Seasons over the Fairmont. Our experience at the Fairmont was below expectations. The breakfast buffet, as was the lack of service, was overpriced for what you received. We ate dinner at the upper-level bar, and the service was slow, and not fully educated on their food and beverage choices (wine).
There are more places to choose from in the Wailea area.
