a very chilled place in the little village las tunas with lots of waves to ride (no crowd). Clean, nice staff and lovely locals. Best time to surf is from December to April. But there are waves the whole year.

Viejamar is a cozy beach paradise tucked away in between Puerto Lopez and Montañita. The next village, Ayampe, attracts a lot of Europeans and North Americans, but I myself preferred Las Tunas, where Viejamar is located. We saw far more local families walking around there and it really felt like we lived la vida ecuatoriana while there. The staff were...

Nice community areas with kitchen, its on the beach, private hostel and cozy. The staff is very friendly and make you feel like home, and breakfast was really good. Everything was so convenient at the place and the price was really good for what you paid for.

I stayed almost 2 weeks at Viejamar Hostel near Puerto Lopez. I didn't want to stay that long in the beginning but I quickly changed my further travel plans when I saw this beautiful paradise. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, I immediatly felt like home. You cannot hear any noise except the sea, which is just a few...

Great hostel, with amazing beach location. Bunch of volunteers around with whom i became good friends and they introduced me to some of the locals. Really nice laidback, surfer atmosphere. Great location for surfing as well. The only thing is the hostel could be cleaner, but I guess thats part of the surfer hostel experience

The rooms are clean and simple, as I like it. There is hot water at any time. I heard the waves rolling at the...

I stayed with my boyfriend in Viejamar in July. When I entered the door I knew that's the right place to hang out and feel like home. Everything is made with love for details. You'll find enough space to chill and lots of art everywhere. The cabañas and dorms are cosy with wooden floor, good beds and its own bathrooms....
