If you are interested in indigenous cultures, medicinal plants, and/or environmental preservation, this trip is for you. The Huaorani people have lived for thousands of years in the Western Ecuadorian rainforest. This tour allowed me to visit the people & learn about their lifestyle. I...More

We had an amazing guide named Louis. Make sure you ask for him before you start your trip. The place is in the middle of the jungle in a very remote area. Do NOT expect any real world comforts. Its quite rough but quite enjoyable...More

Hi Jim, I have been looking at the reviews for the Huaorani Ecolodge for quite a while trying to guage if it would be ok for myself and my family. I plan to go to Equador next summer and have a 8 year old and 11 year old boy. We are quite fit and have travelled a fair bit, but I do know from last time I tried anything like this at the end of the day they are western kids who moan alot. Can you give me an indication of how they would find it. Will they be bored, uncomfortable hungry? I have read a couple of reviews that mention not getting fed all day, and a couple that have talked about wading through mud all the time in the heat? Like I say we are not soft but at the same time selfishly I don't want to spoil the experience for myself by setting myself up for failure. Before you say it leaving them behind isn't an option!
