Reached by motor canoe, then paddle canoe, La Selva is situated on a remote lagoon near the Napo River. The Lodge was clean comfortable, a stunning setting. The food was good - better when there was a buffet - and our guide was extremely knowledgeable. We were disappointed in not seeing many mammals - the monkeys kept to the treetops...

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We agree, if you are planning to do a combination of visiting both the Amazon Rainforest and the Galapagos Islands, we recommend that you visit La Selva first. This is because the animals in the Amazon are very shy in comparison to the wildlife in the Galapagos where you can come within just a...

We spent 4 nights here and had an incredible time. Our guide, Paul, was really knowledgable and friendly and our native guide, Darwin was also excellent. Good food, great service and lots of activities to keep busy. Clean and tidy room, well worth the money.

Our trip was after heavy rains with flooding of the Napo river and a high lake level. Many of our excursions were by canoe. The excursions were excellent with many photography opportunities, well informed local guides, lots of wildlife.

Dear Barbara, Thank you for sending in your review, we really appreciate it! This time of year is the rainy season but as you experienced, there is still plenty of wildlife to see and things to do. High water means more opportunity for canoe excursions and opportunities to see the ecosystem differently. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay!...

Excellent guides who were very knowledgeable of the Amazonian environment and indigenous peoples; small group touring worked well; interesting variety of activities - jungle night walks, canopy tower bird watching, jungle hikes, canoeing, a visit to an indigenous community; excellent food and accommodation; very attentive to guests' needs; It would have been helpful to provide more advanced information on what...

The Napo flooded and rose two meters during our visit. We saw the Amazon rain forest breathe, absorbing the runoff from the Ecuadorian Andes and evolving seamlessly before our eyes. The transition was rare, unique, and shared with us by guides and indigenous peoples committed to the protection and stewardship of the rainforest. Perfect!

My wife and I stayed at La Selva over Christmas and it far exceeded our expectations. We had a better time and better tours here compared to Galapagos! We recently stayed at La Selva Lodge as part of a multigenerational family trip (11 people, ages 10-76). Getting to this lodge is partly the experience, requiring a plane, motorboat, walking, and a canoe. Mind-boggling to realize that all supplies are brought in this way. We were in the family cabins, absolutely luxurious but still at-one with the rainforest. The...
