My husband's and my stay at La Selva was a "pinch me" experience. Simply magical. The setting is spectacular, the lodge itself is lovely, the room exceeded our expectations as did the food and the service. Our naturalist guide Paul and his assistant Sixto were simply outstanding; their knowledge of the rainforest was awe inspiring. The manager, Gabby, was responsive...

Thank you so much for your kind review Kadimai, it is lovely to hear you had that "pinch me" experience. It is what we work so hard to do, so that each of our guests can leave with something special. Very happy you and your husband had that moment. Gabby, Paul, and the rest of the staff say hello and...

Not only was this lodge amazing in the rainforest, but the trip to get there was exciting as well... 2 hours down the Napo river by motorized canoe then 40 minutes being paddled up a narrow channel and across the lake to the lodge.

Hi Cory, Yes, the way in to the lodge really makes you aware of how deep in the rainforest we really are. Glad you enjoyed the trip in, it is all part of the experience and much can be seen from the Napo River. Just a side note, all of our accommodations are built with a native design that makes...

Beautiful remote location - I'll never forget the sounds of the jungle and the look of the sky in the middle of the night. Learned a lot about the rainforest, the animals who live there, and the indigenous people of the areas, including the politics of tourism and oil. The rooms were very nice, with balconies overlooking the lagoon or...

Thank you so much for your review and insightful thoughts, like that of the hummingbirds. The Amazon is a magical place, but it is also very fragile. We at La Selva believe that nature must be left to do what it has done best for millions of years. This includes letting the animals follow their natural behavior. Our Paul guide...

We spent three nights at La Selva with our almost 13 year old granddaughter. It was a wonderful experience. As many other reviews have mentioned, the wildlife is not in your face - you need to look for it. Our brilliant guide Rodrigo and his side-kick Sergio were fantastic. They spotted things that seemed totally invisible to us, from a...

Wow, you have really done some great Ecuador exploring! Thank you so much for stopping by and choosing to visit the Amazon with us! It must have been a wonderful experience with your grandaughter. We can't quite put our finger on it but there is something that draws children's interest in the rainforest. We've had kids visit the lodge from...

High praise for the staff who looked after us so well, especially our guides, david and enrique. The food and accommodations were excellent. We enjoyed the wild life, the canoe rides, the jungle walks. We were surprised by the lack of mosquitoes but not surprised by the ever present humidity. To get the most out of the trip you have...

Dear Brian, Thank you so much for your feedback and tips for other travelers looking to visit the Ecuadorian Amazon. No matter where anyone may desire to travel, you should always have an open mind. There is so much that the Amazon has yet to teach us, nevermind the countless things to do and see. Humidity might be present ,...

We had the most incredible four days at La Selva. Absolutely serene setting on jungle lagoon. Exceptional guides that did fabulous jobs in finding wildlife and explaining wildlife and eco-botany of the jungle. All guided tours were incredibly fascinating. Excellent service from meeting at the airport, to taxi boats to guides to hotel and restaurant staff. Excellent, excellent food from...

We had a wonderful time at La Selva. As all other reviewers have commented -- it is remote, hot, lovely, and interesting. The naturalist guides really make the stay. Our guide, Paul, was great as was our native guide Jose. But we didn't hear anything bad about any of the guides. The food was good, the rooms were nice. We...

It's an adventure just getting there - a flight into Coca, then a short bus ride to the docks where we boarded a long, skinny motor boat to travel upriver 2.5 hours, then a disembarkation with a short walk to a canoe, where we travelled up a jungle river to La Selva.
