Nice classic hotel with updated rooms and good restaurant where you can get pampered after a full day of hiking and eat a hearty breakfast before. Very helpfulness Staff in organizing transport to and from the trail! Some parts of the hotel need renovation which is underway but it has a great feel despite that.

We spent two nights here. We had a great stay. She is a beautiful, historic hotel. The rooms were have been updated nicely. They were spacious and clean. The food is good, if you don't feel like eating dinner in the dining room there is a great little restaurant and bar right across the street. The hotel is very conveniently...

This is really a strange hotel. Staying here is like going back to the 1930-ies. Very oldfashioned place. But fun - and nice rooms. Service is also fine. And food/wine is excellent - but expensive! if you like hiking this is the place to be. Otherwise go for a ride up in the mountains by 2 excellent chairlifts. Free for...

It is pretty charming hotel - reminded me a scenes from the shining movie ;) Try high tea from the lobby - it is worth it. A lot of good restaurants on site, but besides local trails there is nothing to do.

Over the 50 years that I have used this hotel, my recent visit was probably the worst of all! We did not have a room in the hotel - rather, we booked a 2-bedroom motel unit which is situated at the back of the hotel. This motel unit was well below the standard one would expect -- scruffy and uninviting....

The hotel is great as it's in a Good location it's a little old but quirky and that gives it a degree of charm. But the service and price of the food in the restaurant really let's it down. They could do so much better but it feels like they know your options are limited by your location, why try....

We went to the café for lunch and were very surprised by this bad experience. I ordered a hot sandwich which was nothing but dried up remains just about inedible. My husband ordered sea food pasta which was one of the dishes of the day on the blackboard (where there were several spelling mistakes) , and turned out to be...

In summary: don't expect too much and you will be rewarded with a unique and lovely stay at this Grand Old Dame. We stayed here in early January 2017 with my family of 6 - two teen and two tween children. It really is the most beautiful location, and the Chateau Tongariro adds to the romance of the spectacular view...

I booked myself and my partner for afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday and I could not have been happier. The tea is refined, elegant and really tasty and at the end both of us were totally full despite having avoided eating lunch to make sure we were hungry. The sandwiches and cakes were divine and I cannot recommend this...
