Really enjoyed the home and hospitality at the Murchison Inn. Beautiful setting a short walk to the downtown area. Comfortable room with fast wifi. Great breakfast with farm fresh eggs, double yolks! I would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here for a couple of nights in mid-December. Like many others, we had changed our travel plans because of the earthquake affecting the roads around Kaikoura. We were delayed at Picton with hire-car issues and arrived at the Lodge very late (about 11 pm). It could have meant a night spent in the car for us but, to...

Dear Limasolo Thank you for your review. Yes, so many travellers are having to change their plans due to the Kaikoura incident. However, most are enjoying the alternative route. So glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Lodge. Keys are always available to the rooms. We will ask guests in the future if they want one. Thanks again Rosemary...

We stayed at Murchison Lodge for a one-night stopover on the way south, and it was just the job: welcoming, warm, comfortable and quiet. The very spacious shared guests' lounge made for a very comfortable relaxing after a long drive, with good wifi, and the very inexpensive honesty bar/fridge was well stocked with good wines and beers - that was...

As with other reviewers stopping here was not part of the plan but an earthquake decided otherwise! However this was a very pleasant surprise. The lodge was spacious, beautifully maintained and Rosemary and Steven could not have been more welcoming and obliging. . They even shared a glass of wine and cheeseboard with us and other guests to celebrate Rosemary's...

No better welcome to an immaculate, comfortable and spacious lodge. Large open friendly lounge where residents can get together. Our room was on the ground floor and even had its own entrance, which was ideal for unloading our gear. We had two nights here and after a concise introduction by Stephen we were left to our own devices. We met...

The Lodge is spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. Breakfast is excellent with yummy home made marmalade, and the big log burner makes the Lodge cosy and warm. However we sensed that the hosts had mixed feelings about being "in service": on arrival at 7pm we were greeted by Rosemary and Stephen who were clearly the worse for drink and who...

Thank you Lorna for your review. We feel very sad that you did not enjoy staying at Murchison Lodge. It is interesting to note that quite a number of our lovely guests have been disappointed with their change of plans due to the earthquake at Kaikoura. No doubt you and Roger felt this way. Our guests mostly arrive at 4pm...
