Having traveled for a couple of weeks around NZ and staying in various accommodation styles we found Rainforest retreat to be average at best. The location is great, surrounded by rainforest, nice faciilites including spa pool, the staff friendly and the restaurant/bar handy to our ROOM. but there lays the problem we had what is called a standard double and...

Stayed in log cabin which was well equipped and in pleasant setting. Site had a camp site feel with camper vans and backpacker chalets. Noisy, lively bar full of young people in the evenings. Paid $25 for breakfast but was not offered $25 value at restaurant. This appeared to be poor coordination between restaurant staff and hotel staff which was...

The only good thing about this place is the location and the bar! It was extremely dirty, super busy. The room was really the minimum with dirty sheets and old carpets. The room was smelling so badly! The bathroom was a joke. One bathroom for a full floor. It was a mixed bathroom with 3 toilets, one broken, 5 showers,...

Had a caravan and we were given a double site at no extra cost. Reception were friendly, efficient and helpful. The whole complex was clean and tidy and they have created a peaceful place to stay. The showers were basic but clean and there were notices around that they are in the process of improving the shower blocks.

We booked a power site for 2 nights, the park is crowded and the washrooms are always full with people. Reserved a particular site number for the second night with the reception, it was jotted down on the system, but it was taken when we back to the park. Receptionist had no help on the parking issue but gave us...

This was a fantastic place to stay.It is nestled in native bush and is very quiet. The rooms have everything you need, but there is a kitchen available if you need more. They cater to both ends of the Accommodation spectrum and there are many extra facilities there also. They have a fantastic restaurant on site offering a variety of...

We opted for one of the tree houses (so to speak) that is located towards the back of the property, surrounded by trees, and had a great night's stay. It was very peaceful and quiet, the bedrooms, living room were spacious and the unit also comes equipped with a full kitchen. We made use of the private heated pool and...

We booked a "small double" room and it was pretty much 4 walls around a double bed. It was totally tiny and the bathroom was gross. It smelled damp the whole time and never seemed to dry out. The place was very noisy - you could hear music most of the night and anyone walking upstairs. I would say to...

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights as part of an itinerary which included a helicopter flight up to the glacier. We were somewhat tired when we arrived having just driven the 350 kms from Queenstown. However we were charmingly greeted at Reception and soon on our way to a "Tree Lodge" chalet complete with meal...

I booked the Rainforest Retreat based on the trip reviews and pictures posted on the site. I was looking forward to the stay, so imagine my disappointment when I pulled up to the location. The pictures on the site and the descriptions led me to believe this was a "retreat" type hotel with secluded suites set back in the forest....
