I'm a bit late with this review but not because we have forgotten our couple of nights at Ribbonwood. We were first time travellers in NZ and this was one of our favourite stops. So much to see in the area and a great host in Jonathan who was so interesting to talk to. We had the room at the...

We thoroughly enjoyed our time and our hosts were most gracious, making delicious breakfasts (crepes a speciality) as well as transporting us to town and advising us of the local sights and things to do. We would definitely stay again!

Although the bedroom was small we had a huge bathroom and exclusive use of one part of the house. Jonathon cooked us a lovely pizza using mostly home-grown ingredients. It is a lovely location surrounded by mountains, one of which has the last 350 of a type of kiwi still in the wild. Jonathon is a mine of information on...

As we were planning our trip to NZ in 2014, a close friend recommended Ribbonwood Retreat as the place to stay if we were ever in Franz Josef. We are really happy she did, as our one night stay there during the second week of January 2015 was simply brilliant! We stayed in the cottage, and spent a considerable time...

Thank you Julie and Jo. We cannot wait to come and stay in your delightful Retreat again. Thank you for sharing your home and your time and knowledge and making sure we really enjoyed ourselves. Not sure what else to wax lyrical about first, the breakfast crepes of fresh fruit, the wooden cottage, the peace, the birds or the best...

We stayed only one night in Ribbonwood, but it was a special one! During the only breakfast in Ribbonwood we kept on asking questions and Jonathan told us EVERYTHING about preserving the unique nature of New Zealand and the work he has done in this field for many years. This breakfast was really special. We followed our host`s advice and went...

As said so many times earlier by other reviewers, we too had a fabulous time at the cottage. the location is just apt for a quiet time out. The hosts, John and Julie make you feel at home. Awesome food connoisseurs they are, served us delicious breakfast ( we being strict vegetarians; no eggs also). our 4 yr old son...

We stayed at this beautiful cottage and had a wonderful time! The hosts Jan and Julie were the most gracious hosts with a treasure trove of information for first time travellers into NZ. The crepes that Julie served us for breakfast were delicious and was a wonderful way to get going for the day. Would recommend this B&B to anyone...

Even before entering the property, we already felt welcome. From the deco, to check in, to the breakfast there were so many personal touches from Jo. (Jo even made his own bread to serve us the next day) Bed was very comfortable and we had good sleep. We had a good stay and would definitely recommend this place to our...

We stayed in the cottage and had a fabulous time. The evening drinks on the decking was truly magical. Watching the birds and overlooking the mountains. Great location to head off for walks and far enough out of Franz to avoid the noise of the helicopters. Jonathon was a great host and served a mean breakfast. Very friendly and helpful....
