Front desk clerk was very friendly. Lobby, halls and rooms were clean. Pool is indoor, but had good ventilation so the smell of chlorine wasn't that bad. The room was huge! Although I would have preferred a free standing table and 2 chairs, not just a built in desk with one chair.

We chose this hotel as it was conveniently located across the street from Enterprise car rental. We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip.
Hand sanitizer dispensers were located throughout the hotel and sanitizing wipes next to the elevator. The rooms were “sealed” with a sanitized tape on the door and everything seemed extremely clean.
The bedding and sheets were very comfortable and the bathroom was well supplied with necessary items. The room was a good size and well designed for a comfortable stay.
Breakfast is changed to a “grab and go” bag with multiple options and choices.
An attendant gets you whatever you want from the selection. It is very well managed for safety and also convenience and service for the hotel guests.

Not a luxury hotel but super clean, safe, terrific value and the staff (all of the employees) interact with you in a manner that you feel super important and your experience matters. I asked for a feather pillow and I received 2. I asked for soy milk for my complimentary breakfast and received it. Bravo.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn downtown. I was only in town a few days, but enjoyed each day of my stay at this hotel. The front desk was knowledgable and friendly. The rooms comfortable and the entire hotel was cleaned daily. I REALLY enjoyed the 24 hour access to the pool, hot tub and fitness room. My room was cleaned daily per a request and all staff members at this hotel were willing to help with anything needed. I like that this hotel is centrally located to shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. I was within walking distance to see the Jazz play, or take in an afternoon of shopping. I wouldn't hesitate to come back and stay at the Hampton Inn downtown in the future.

3.5 stars if I could. The hotel itself is fine. The staff is friendly, the room is spacious, and the facilities are well-kept. We found the bed to be very uncomfortable (extremely stiff). Just a basic breakfast. Location is within walking distance to Temple Square and some great restaurants, however in a neighborhood that seemed to us as unsafe - certainly did not feel safe walking around after dark. Personally I would recommend paying a bit more to stay in a nicer hotel + a better location, but our stay here was certainly fine.

Thank you for staying with us at the Hampton Inn Salt Lake City - Downtown. We greatly appreciate your feedback and are glad that your overall experience with us has been satisfactory. It's very encouraging to receive such great reviews. I am sorry that you felt uncomfortable in the area around our hotel. There is a homeless presence in Salt Lake City. We take the safety and security of our guests very seriously and are regularly working with the police and the city to improve the local area. I have shared your comments with the police and the mayor's office. Thanks again and Happy Travels!

After looking at SLC on crimegrade.org, it was hard to pick a hotel in SLC that wasn't in a bad part of town! The Hampton Inn has a beautiful lobby, great breakfast area and a lot more amenities like a pool, gym, laundry. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the woman who checked us in...sorry I can't remember her name. It was short and started with a "T" I think. she wore a flower in her hair.

The room was nice and, even though it had blackout shades, our window was next to the large spotlight that shown on the hotel's name on the building! A suggestion: have a laminated card with the local channels/networks. The guide offered through the remote is too generic.

Let me start this review by saying I always try to stay at a Hampton Inn if I can't I stay at a Hilton property. I have always found them a reliable brand. This place might make me rethink that decision. When we got there the front doors were locked (it was only 4pm prime check in time) , luckily someone was walking out so we got in because no one was at the desk to see us waiting & we couldn't find the call button. When I mentioned that we couldn't get in I was informed the doors are locked 24/7.when I asked if the neighborhood was that bad she said no they just need to keep people out. I should of walked away then because it was all down hill. Because of that info I decided that instead of leaving stuff in my car over night I should bring it in with me. I got to the room and first off there is no closet just a curtain with some hooks behind it. The bathroom door was a sliding barn door that used a old school public bathroom latch. It just covered the doorway so EVERYONE in the room not only could hear you in the bathroom but there was also no fan so they could also smell everything. I used one of the charging ports next to my bed and apparently one of them was dead because my phone was still at 20% when I woke up. I went down to breakfast and no chocolate milk (I don't drink coffee so this is how I wake up. ) , the white milk was room temperature leaving you to wonder how long it had been sitting out. The food was all lukewarm and not enjoyable. When I went out to put my bags in the car there was a red tag on my window saying the hotel required parking passes and to go to the front desk for one. Why didn't they give me one when I checked in? I was very happy to be leaving. This stay was the first time I have ever thought about taking them up on their 100% guarantee. Please think twice about staying here if your a woman traveling alone or with other females please stay somewhere safer.

Thank you for sharing your experience at my hotel. We take great pride in ensuring our guest’s satisfaction. Unfortunately, we did not meet your expectations. Since this time, we have reviewed your comments with our staff to ensure that the issues you mentioned are addressed. Of course there are things like the design of the room, that I am not able to correct, but I can make sure your comments are shared with the Hilton designers whenever we are remodeled again. We do have our front doors locked to make sure that our amenities and facilitices are available only to our valued guests. Being on a very busy corner downtown, right off the freeway and with a park that is busy with sporting events, festivals and markets, and also with a homeless resource center a few blocks away, we do get a lot of people that want to come in to use our restrooms and even partake of the breakfast. We've evn had a few instances where families have shown up to swim. We actually didn't start locking the front doors until the beginning of the pandemic, when very few people were traveling and we only have 2-3 employees working at any given time. The response we had from guests has been very favorable. I will remind our staff to please explain this better. We absolutley want our guests to feel safe and secure. With our breakfast, unfortuantley we are limited with what we can serve. While chocolate milk isn't included in the Hampton Inn menu, we do have hot chocolate available on the coffee station. I agree though, the food should not be lukewarm. We do have temperature checks throughout the service time. Do you remember what time you had visited our breakfast? I will be talking with the breakfast supervisor tomorrow. We are working to put additional measures into place to ensure this does not happen again to you or any future guests. However, be aware that we issued a service recovery to your reservation and gave you a complete refund to your account for the inconvenience. The card you gave at check in, is the card the refund was applied to. I am sending you the receipt showing the refund now. Please note that depending on your credit card company, it may take 7-10 business days for the refund to reflect in your account. I was actually at the front desk when you checked out. I would have loved to talk to you when you were here and take care of the refund then. If you are ever in Salt Lake again, I would love to have you give us another try. Please reach out to me. Best,

We visited my daughter in SLC over Christmas 2021. Hampton Inn had a great low room rate over the holidays. We stayed 5 nights. The beds were comfortable. The hotel is not new, but was clean and well maintained. It is near an area of SLC where there are many homeless people, but we did not have any bad encounters. Hotel security was excellent. The pool and hot tub were open, and we enjoyed them. When we first checked in, our room was on a floor where there were noisy children enjoying their holiday. When we commented about the noise to the front desk, they immediately moved us to another room on a different floor, solving the problem for us without hassle. All of the staff was very accommodating. We enjoyed the full breakfast available every morning. They had scrambled eggs, sausage or other breakfast meat each day, waffles, bagels, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc. Free coffee was available 24-7, as well as tea and hot chocolate.

The staff were very friendly (specifically Carly), helpful and suggested some local attractions. The room was large and clean. We recommend requesting a room away from the side of University Blvd-it was the noisy side of the building. We stayed here a second time and the room on the opposite side was much quieter. Breakfast was good and were able to get a breakfast bag when we had to leave before the continental breakfast was available.

We spent a few nights here, and the entire experience was comfortable. The hotel is easily accessed, parking is free, and we felt safe the entire time. The lobby and rooms were very clean, and the staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the free coffee and tea in the lobby. We didn't use the pool, but it looked clean upon walking by. Hubs said the free breakfast was very good. The room was so quiet that I often slept in. There were a lot of food options nearby, and the staff was always willing to point you in the right direction. We even had to extend for a night, and all it took was a simple phone call to the front desk. All in all, a great experience.

Very close. Easily within walking distance. Or you can go park underground at the shopping area across from Temple Square. It's very affordable parking.

Dear traveler. The hotel is right in downtown. I think Salt Lake City is safe. I'm not sure if the arena is within walking distance. You can check it out on google maps. I think there is good public transportation. One block away from the hotel there is a trolley system that you can go all around the city. Also Uber might come very handy. However I think most of the touristic attractions they are near by. Good luck and enjoy your trip. There is a great pizza place few blocks away from the hotel called Settebello Pizzeria Napolitana they brew they own beer as well. It is a must go.

Cab fare from the hotel to Temple Square would be about $5-6 plus tip. It is approximately 1 mile from the hotel to Temple Square.
