Travellers' Choice
The San Mateo Inn is a motor hotel, hyper focused on making this a "uniquely Albuquerque" hotel that is equally safe, friendly and clean. We are a very easy stop for people passing through town on I-40, or I-25, and we are a great central location to use as home base. We are conveniently located near Uptown and Coronado Center for great shopping, entertainment and dining options. Sandia Peak is minutes away for hiking, biking and general outdoor adventure. We are within five miles of UNM, downtown, the fair grounds and more. Make the San Mateo Inn your budget friendly central hub for all of your Albuquerque excursions. We can't wait to make your stay a pleasant one!

This is just a typical motel. I am surprised with the bathroom size and welcome card that I was expecting from my first hotel in downtown Santa Fe. I was surely not expecting too much about this property however their room size and layout are better than my over $250 room in Santa Fe. The highlight of my stay was the front desk Guy named Taylor, he was very informative and friendly. He seems new to his job but he was able to manage it as I keep asking questions to him. Finally, I was able to talk to someone about the place, this guy made my entire trip to New Mexico better as I got a lot of information about the entire state. Thank you.

An out of the way hotel that offers so much more. Pet friendly. We stayed there while passing through, we needed a pet friendly location and knew when we got there it was great. The staff was super friendly and t rooms were clean and well maintained. The location is a bit cramped due to the development of the area, but there is a Denny’s in the parking area and easy access to other shopping and dining, as well as I 40.

I stayed here not expecting much. But this place proved me wrong. It's a complete jem! The hotel is easy to find, it's located off Interstate 40 on San Mateo Blvd. There is a Denny's restaurant located right next to the hotel. The hotel offers you a a free bottle of water, upon check in. The lobby area is nice. They do offer free coffee & tea 24 hours a day. And while your there checknout the pet board. It has pictures of pets that stayed at the hotel. (Dogs, cats, birds & even seen a sugar glider) They have a jar of doggy treats for you pooch at the front desk. So yes, it's pet friendly. There are vending machines to purchase drinks & snacks. I was upstairs in room 203, I don't believe this hotel has an elevator, just stairs. So if you have mobility issues or disability. Ask for bottom floor room. I had a double queen bed, and the room was a nice size. The decor was pretty & well done. The room had a mini freg, 40 inch flat screen TV, single serve coffee maker, & hair dryer. The bathroom had a 2 in 1 shampoo/ conditioner mini bottle. And soap. Towels are fresh & clean. The tub area was the only dated area of my room. But the water gets hot, for a nice shower. The beds are a bit firm but comfortable, I didn't have any problems sleeping on them. The TV has a good choice of channels. Ice machines & laundry facilities are available for guests to use. The pool wasn't open when I visited. There isn't any breakfast offered at the hotel. But the there's a Denny located next door. And if you show your room key, the give you a 10% discount! I honestly LOVED this hotel. All staff members were super friendly. You get a great room at an excellent price. I'll make this place a regular stay when I'm in the Albuquerque area.

Room Tip: There is only 1 turn off to the property, from the road. This was the only down side.

Clean, clean, clean!! Perfect stopover traveling south! Comfortable bed, updated decor. Friendly check in, easy parking, lot felt pretty secure, even with homeless camp on other side of fence. Only downside was short commode, and somewhat outdated tub and shower head. Otherwise, we will definitely stay again!!
