This building left me in awe. I spent two nights here and was able to explore as I wished. From the basement to the upstairs, this place was amazing. I love history and this town is full of it! The building alone is enough to...More
Don't plan on going there if you have a kid under the age of 21. Minnesota Law says anyone under the age of 21 when accompanied with a parent can enter a bar, however the calumet makes is own rules and does not allow it....More
Seriously ....! I went to this hotel a week ago . And let me tell you that, the history of this hotel alone is worth the stay .

This is a really funky old hotel that we loved!
The stone wall and stairs are spectacular. The room was very funky with a slanted floor, hot and cold water that barely mixed a 60's kitchen unit (no pots, pans or dishes supplied)
I enjoyed a stay at the Calumet Inn on a mother/daughter trip to visit Pipestone. We stayed in one of the historic rooms on the second floor with two queen beds. It was bigger than many rooms I have stayed in at chain hotels and...More

Sorry I can't answer specifically about the family suite. We stayed in room 205, but were able to peek into a few other rooms on the second floor. If you're looking for a shiny, "sparkly" room that looks like every other room you find in new hotels, this isn't the place for you. If you like historic, clean, comfortable, "homey" as in kind of a grandma's house feel, this is exactly what you want.
I couldn't access their website this morning to see what they say about the family suite. I would suggest you give them a call. They should be able to answer your question. Everyone who worked in the hotel seemed very friendly. I would ask if the suite is one of the rooms that has been remodeled recently and wouldn't hesitate to ask politely if they could possibly send a couple of photos of the room your interested in. (We did post pictures of room 205 with our review.) They may or may not provide photos, but it never hurts to ask.

The Hotel Hell episode was quite interesting. It seems like it has gone down hill since it was filmed. I don't know about all of the rooms, but the two we saw had wall paper including large roses wallpaper in the rose room. I honestly can't remember the furniture in our room. I thought it was not typical motel furniture but nothing unusual. We did not have a jacuzzi or claw foot tub. The rooms are large and seemed comfortable enough to us.
