We came for a horse back ride, but went inside the lodge to wait and use the restroom. If the lobby and restrooms are any indication of the rest of the property, I would rather camp than stay here (that is saying a ton because I am NOT a camper!). It was dated, musty, and creepy. The trail ride was...

This is in regards to the horseback riding only. We did not stay at the lodge so I can't comment on that. My fiancé and I went straight to Elkhorn stables after getting engaged to do some horseback riding which neither of us had ever done. The three staff members we met were all so friendly and helpful! For $40...

Fun ride. Great guide. Kind of junky property. Horses seemed well cared for. Good price. Not sure if we will come back or not. Hotel looks trashed but we didn't stay there. Fun after not being on a horse in two decades

What a great experience. Our guide was funny and knowledgeable. The views were breathtaking and the horses were so well behaved and we are definitely coming back again. We enjoyed seeing that the horses were so well taken care off. All thumbs up!

We didn't actually stay here because it was closed but we ate at the pizza joint inside the hotel. Amazing food. We learned some great history about the place. Its a fun experience. We definitely want to go back & stay there. They say it's haunted too :-)

The Elkhorn Lodge is by far the worst accommodations that we’ve ever encountered. When we made reservations we had envisioned quaint and rustic rooms/cabins. What we found was shocking. When we drove up to our cabin, we were greeted with an old dilapidated inside wood table with a leg missing and a chair missing an arm on the falling down...

The experience is exactly as advertised, no frills horseback ride in a fantastic setting in Estes park, just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. I've done this tour several times and will do so again, because it's just fun and frankly really cheap. The entrance is very well marked "Horse Back Rides" with an arrow. Deb and her son, Colton, were...

It was disappointing that no one returned our phone call to make a reservation. One we arrived at the stables (1.5+ hours drive) We were told there was room on the ride, but after finding out we had purchased a Living Social deal they wouldn't honor that purchase. Make sure you actually speak to someone & get a name for...

We had a great time, I this this is a love it or hate it kind of place, you have to be looking for rustic and off the beaten path kind of place. If that's what you're looking for this place is awesome. It's quaint and gives you the feel that you are way off at an old ranch somewhere....

We loved this place. We stayed early in the season being one of two guest. They gave us a tour of this historic hotel. We sat with some of the employees around a roaring fire and visited. They entertained us with stories and the history of the lodge. The views were breath taking. The mountains still were dressed with snow....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Elkhorn Lodge is the oldest continuous operating lodge in the Rocky Mountain region and is the most historical property in Estes park. Dating to 1874 when Reverend McCreary from Ft. Collins built a small summer cabin on what was to become the Elkhorn property, to today's struggles to save and restore this jewel of the West, the Elkhorn Lodge has been and continues to be a major part of Estes Park. With a fully functioning main lodge, cabins galore, and several spacious buildings for large parties, there's accommodations for any and all at the Elkhorn Lodge and Ranch.
