Purchased a Groupon for this. When we pulled into the parking lot we had absolutely no idea where to go. There were no signs or any indication of where the barn was. Everyone at the ranch was very, very friendly. We picked a horrible day to go (40 degrees and rain) but the ride itself was pretty disappointing. I have...

The cabin we stayed in was okay but it did not have any heat or a/c so if you are staying in winter or summer be warned.

The ad should read " For a mere $125 per cabin, you can experience peeling wall paper, rusted out showers, shower curtains held up with old coat hangers, stained sinks, beds that probably haven't been changed since the old west, and old soda cans left in your old, dirty refrigerator" - this is NOT an exaggeration. Remembering Elkhorn from days...

There was a piece of doodoo that was laying in the hotel. Looked like it had been there for weeks, it was old and dry. That helps summarize my experience at the lodge. Overpriced, dirty and staff was VERY UNFRIENDLY AND RUDE! No wonder its rated so horribly. Go else where

The Elkhorn Lodge in Estes Park was one of the best highlights of our 18 day Phoenix to Yellowstone RT drive. The lodge is rustic and antique so if you cant skip modern conveniences for a night or two then go elsewhere. We stayed in early Sept. 2014 and watched the best wildlife show right from the front porch! Lots...

We stayed at the Elkhorn Lodge Sept. 2014 and had a wonderful experience. I had read some of the other reviews and was a bit concerned about our stay. I called to confirm our reservation and they had it as we had made our reservation through a third party. The staff was polite and quite accommodating. I cannot speak for...

And by wildlife I mean MICE in the cabin we rented. We were told that they could not control the wildlife. We have lived on farms and can tell you that mice can get into a home. But we didn't just throw our hands in the air and say "oh well". We put out traps and poison, plugged holes etc....

Dear guest, We are sorry to hear you had issues with your cabin. My wish is that it would have been brought to our attention to address these for you. As for the mice in The Rocky Mountains, it is fall and I dare to admit at my own home that is less than 13 years old I too have...

I rented the Church to stay in with my niece and nephew for two nights, just last week. While the lady behind the counter (I believe her name was Jamie) was very pleasant; the manager displayed no care for the renters. I had reserved this venue; called to confirm the reservation, then checked in. At no time did ANYONE tell...

We apologize you were uncomfortable. Due to our front desk hours we leave a telephone number displayed each night for guest's to reach a lodge employee. The response to your issue was partly due to the curse word used in the lobby. We regret you could not contact someone in your two night stay. Elkhorn Lodge

This is a review only of the trail ride offered through Elkhorn Lodge. I must say, I think there is a LOT of room for improvement here. I heard that new owners bought the ranch just recently, so hopefully they will bring new energy to the place. Safety is the first thing they need to work on: the trail was...

Authentic historic experience with very friendly staff ... Great fun for ghost tours and a fabulous way to get close to nature and experience some solitude! We go every year, at least a few times. Highly recommend the Elk Horn versus staying at an everyday hotel that doesn't have the distinct charisma that defines the Estes Park history.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Elkhorn Lodge is the oldest continuous operating lodge in the Rocky Mountain region and is the most historical property in Estes park. Dating to 1874 when Reverend McCreary from Ft. Collins built a small summer cabin on what was to become the Elkhorn property, to today's struggles to save and restore this jewel of the West, the Elkhorn Lodge has been and continues to be a major part of Estes Park. With a fully functioning main lodge, cabins galore, and several spacious buildings for large parties, there's accommodations for any and all at the Elkhorn Lodge and Ranch. And Don't forget about the horseback riding! ... more   less
