The rooms were clean, but when you almost have to stand in the bathtub to close the bathroom door, it got to be a bit small, although the room was big. It's an older place, and just a very few rooms. No elevators to get upstairs. Continental breakfast wasn't worth it, although the coffee was good. Small breakfast area with...

Sandy - It was a pleasure hosting your group. I'm glad you liked the coffee, it's a local brew found at Kind Coffee downtown. Unfortunately, when people travel in groups not everyone gets exactly what they want. If a large bathroom, an elevator, full service breakfast, and a large breakfast room are critical for your travels, we would respectfully recommend...

This hotel was everything we needed. The breakfast was great every morning before taking off for the day in the park. Dana was there to answer your questions, give you tips about things, or just to say good morning. The rooms were plenty big enough and very clean. We could walk to town and enjoy shopping and there were restaurants...

Travel - Thank you for the kind words and for staying with us this fall. Our location is probably the most liked part of our place - with service a close second. The summer/fall is our busy season, and we meet tons and tons of really neat and interesting people. The most rewarding part about running our motel is meeting...

Everything in Estes Park is expensive so this upgraded old motel was reasonable for the price. Room was adequate. Breakfast is light continental. Best thing was they had very good cookies to take while hiking.

4corners - Thanks for taking the time to review! We're constantly trying to change and tweak both our property and the breakfast selection. As funny as it sounds, I'm happy you enjoyed the Milano cookies. We found them just recently and the little two packs are a perfect compliment to our breakfast. Sometimes we try things and don't get any...

Had no idea about this hotel before we booked. Upon arrival, we were met by the owner and we checked in. Some of the reviews mentioned small rooms, but we had ample room and a king sized room. Very clean and had everything we needed. The BIG added bonus was the lodge had a gas firepit.... we spent two wonderful...

CBChincs - Thanks so much for staying with us and for the kind words. We added the firepit the second year, and it really offers a great area to create memories. We had the decision to make between natural gas or log - and are so happy we went with natural gas because there's no clean up and the fire...

We gathered here for our family reunion. This was the second time we have stayed here. Getting all the details worked out was like herding cats, but Dana was wonderful -- so patient, and very flexible. The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable and a nice size. Some of us stayed at the Elkhorn Overlook house on the property, which...

Terry - Herding Cats, I love it! I can totally relate, hosting large groups can be taxing, but you guys pulled it off and I hope that the entire stay was enjoyable for the whole party. It's great to hear that the location was perfect for you all, and it was a pleasure hosting you all. For other review readers,...

We were so pleased with our stay at The Maxwell Inn. The room was exceptionally clean, the bath linens plush and luxurious, breakfast was simple, fresh and offered healthy options, exactly what we wanted. The friendly owner, Dana, went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. We always look for...

Denise - I can only say THANK YOU for your compliments to our place and what we've done here. Every now and then someone will stay that has stayed here through the years, and generally they are blown away with the change. Now, it's no Ritz, that's for sure, but we've done all that we can and changed the feel...

Well-appointed, clean and spacious room with everything we needed including coat hooks! The only hotel out of the seven we stayed in during our holiday, who provided hooks to hang our coats and also a boot tray to hold our sneakers after miles of hiking. Thank you! Well lit with lamps and bright lighting in the bathroom and vanity/basin area....

JemimaL - Thank you for staying with us this fall and for writing about our place! We added the coat hooks in rooms without other hanging space to help people hang either coats or a few hanging items. It was a fun project (alder 1x4 with locally produced 2x6 tile and cast iron hooks) and we'll look into adding them...

The Maxwell Inn is a place that has a wonderful and convenient location but that is about it. The rooms need modernization in a big way, the beds need to be made on a multi-day stay and the breakfast fare is disappointing. The folks try hard but they need to upgrade their property and staffing.

Bob - Thanks for writing a review on our motel. Our rooms are all shown in pictures on our website and all third party sites, so that guests know exactly what to expect. Since we purchased a few years ago, we've replaced nearly every piece of furniture - most with handmade, retiled every bathroom, upgraded all of the plumbing, put...

This was our first trip to Estes. PurpleChip - Noisy neighbors are the worst! This winter we're trying a few new ideas on making room to room noise less of an issue and we're really optimistic we'll get rid of the majority of the issue. We wish the place was constructed with concrete walls, etc, like most modern places - but we do have a certain charm...
