This is my second time at the Stanley, the first being in fall of 2014. This is a gorgeous old hotel built in 1909 by the inventor of the Stanley Steamer. The views are magnificent. The hotel lobby is beautiful and takes you back in time to the Victorian era with it's ornate woodwork and attention to detail. There is...

We stayed in the Presidential Cottage, which sounds more impressive than it was. Our room had a whirlpool and large bathroom and room, but it was on the ground floor and our windows peaked out under the low porch above, and there was a walkway, so you couldn't take a bath and look at the mountains, and otherwise couldn't see...

This picturesque 106-year-old grand hotel 7,500 feet above sea level at the entrance to Colorado‘s majestic Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most beautiful – and infamous — of the illustrious Historic Hotels of America. The Stanley has been known as one of the most haunted places in the United States. In room 407, the pipe smoke of...

I loved the city of Estes Park, absolutely stunning. The Stanley Hotel was fun to see in person. Had a couple of issues. Room was not ready at check in, they made up for it with a couple of free drinks at the bar. Bed was dirty on the boxspring with a couple of bugs and food crumbs. Tried to...

They took a reservation for us in September of 2015 for April 2016. The day before flying in to check in I was told that the PAID and CONFIRMED reservation DID NOT guarantee a room and that they had "overbooked". They wanted to put me in 3 different rooms on 3 different nights. HORRIBLE. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. DO...

Many people come from all over the world to visit. Maybe not to stay but definitely to visit. And the staff treat you like they believe you don't have the money to step foot in the place. Not too accommodating. They forget they are in the hospitality industry. We've been to many luxury, 5 star hotels and never felt like...

We loved the history tour and seeing the maze finished! We stayed in the newly remodeled Lodge and it was very nice and clean. It was also very quiet. We particularly loved the huge front porches of both buildings with such comfortable chairs and footstools to have a glass of wine in the afternoon!

My husband and I renewed our vows at the Stanley for our 15th anniversary. It was a small ceremony, 12 people at the reception. We had dinner and music in the Billiard room, which is gorgeous! Everything was perfect, thanks to Kaylee and Jersey. The food was amazing. We stayed in a corner bridal suite, which was beautiful. The only...

The desk clerk manning the front desk at the "Lodge" adjacent to the hotel managed to turn a wonderfully memorable (outrageously expensive) weekend into a bitter experience. My husband had planned an amazing birthday weekend for me at the Stanley as we had been engaged there 13 years ago and he knew I had always wanted to return. Unfortunately, for...

Often, places that are famous, or that have really wonderful views, create an environment in which overpriced and generally disagreeable hotels can flourish. Estes Park is one such place. The Stanley Hotel is a gorgeous old building that has been turned into an uncomfortable theme park devoid of any real charm, customer service, or guest experience. Yes, the building is...
