We had a quick weekend getaway with another couple (my brother and sister-in-law). Neither of us had ever been to the Stanley before this trip, but it has been on my list for years of places that I wanted to see....and it did NOT disappoint...what a wonderful weekend. We stayed in the Lodge, which I would recommend for small groups...

On a 10 day tour of Colorado we booked a room at the Stanley. It was worth every penny. The service from check in to check out was wonderful. The food was great and the service staff made us feel at home. The room was clean and well appointed. We of course took the general tour and found it quite...

My daughter had been to The Stanley previously, and wanted to go again so we did. The exterior of the hotel is quite impressive, but when we got to our FIRST room, all expectations went out the window - oh, I forgot, we couldn't get the windows open! There is no a/c and the ceiling fan wouldn't work. We called...

Sure there wasn't air conditioning in the old hotel, but the room (upgraded from the classic) was quite large, high ceilings with large windows, and in the mountains it cools off at night. We loved sleeping with the windows open, and there was a fan so you could encourage more air into the room. A small frig would be nice...

We stayed at The Stanley one night. It was a little pricey considering the fact you have no A/C. But we knew that and wanted to stay this grand hotel. One window opened fine, the other one didn't have any weight ropes anymore and did not open. We cracked the door until the room cooled off. We had no problem...

We had a cocktail at the bar on a weeknight. It was so busy! Such a fun atmosphere. Our bartender Jimmy was incredibly gracious and so helpful, it didn't feel like he was serving us and 20 other people! Thanks for a great experience.

I have seen this hotel since 1957 and I have always wanted to stay there. We finally did, and the anticipation was much better than the realization. The approach to the hotel is disrupted by construction. We parked above the hotel and then had to carry our luggage down three sets of stairs -- no bellboy was in sight. The...

We are Colorado locals and decided to do a short trip to enjoy Estes Park during the Fall leaf changing season and the elk bugling season. Have always wanted to stay at the Stanley so decided this was the time. We booked a room at the Lodge at The Stanley so it would be quieter. The Lodge was great and...

We paid extra for an upgraded room and ended up in the back of the hotel on the first floor down a vanilla hallway. The upper floors are much more in character for a classic hotel. Estes park is an area that is conducive to outdoor activity. During the early fall that means seven thirty to eight o clock before...

As a historical site it is worth visiting but as Jim Carey is said to have found it is better to stay at the Holiday Inn and take a tour of the hotel. We were there on a weekend and they had three or four weddings going on and the place was mobbed and it was hard to find a...
