The Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio garners praise for its elegant and tranquil atmosphere, enhanced by scenic river views and tasteful decor. Guests frequently commend the hotel's prime Riverwalk location and its amenities, such as the Italian restaurant and cafe. While the attentive service is often highlighted, some guests encounter inconsistencies with room servicing.
Despite generally positive remarks about cleanliness, there are occasional concerns regarding upkeep. Noise from elevators is a common gripe, and opinions on value are mixed, with parking fees being a notable detractor.

Detailed Reviews
This was the first time that I have been to San Antonio. I was quite impressed with the orderly layout and ease of access to attractions in the downtown area. We stayed at the Westin on the the Rivrwalk. What a lovely venue. My only disappointment with our room was the bed. It had hollows - so it was lumpy and bumpy. The room and bathroom were well appointed and housekeeping was attentive to deatil. We had valet parking for our rental car and were able to get to every attraction that we had planned on - either on foot or via the car. Highways are easy access of the hotel. We had business meetings on Friday and Saturday with catering taking care of all our needs. (beverages, catered lunch and snacks)

We enjoyed the past weekend in the Westin Riverwalk, which is located close to the shops and restuarants, but also far enough away from them not t be bombarded by any noise. Our room was very comfortable and clean, and included a small frige, a coffee maker and a large closet for baggage and clothes. Upon arriving at the room, we noted that it had been "sealed" after cleaning, to assure that it would remain spotless for us. We used the valet parking which at 46 dollars per night might sound like a lot, but it allowed us to come and go throughout the day without being charged every time as at the surface lots nearby. In the end, it was more economical. Valet attendants were very friendly, and efficient. Everyone on the hotl staff wore masks, and masks were required of all guests as well inall areas of the hotel.

Arrived San Antonio at 3:00pm and used UBER for transportation from the airport to the hotel. Check in was quick/easy and receptionist was behind a plastic screen. Internet (normally $14.95/day) was complimentary. Very few tourists but mask was required in the hotel. Room was 833 and was clean and very quiet. Coffee maker in the room. Front door had adhesive sticker saying it had been cleaned and sanitized. TV remote was even in a plastic bag. There was a refrigerator in the room. Had a small narrow desk/vanity area along with an additional chair for seating. Linens were all white and bed was very comfortable.

This is not the same Westin Riverwalk that I’ve grown to love over multiple visits in the past several years. The hotel describes recent room remodels but my room was not an update. The tv in the room was not a smart tv so there was not an option for Netflix. The mini refrigerator was barely cool and there was no adjustment switch to make it colder. The room was hot and humid upon arrival and took at least an hour to cool. The full length mirror that is usually found in the entryway was attached to the back of the bathroom door and difficult to view in the tiny bathroom. This hotel usually has great reading material (books and magazines about the local area) in the room. However, when I first looked around the room for these items I couldn’t find them. On my last night I opened the bottom drawers to the dresser and there were the magazines. The hotel advertises their spa on the hotel tv channel but there was no information in the room regarding the spa. I decided to stop by the spa and get a brochure. I followed the signs on the hotel walls that directed me to the “Spa” on the 4th floor. Once arriving at the spa I found the door locked and lights off at 2:00 pm on a Monday. I then ventured down to the Westin gift shop located on the lobby floor and asked to buy some of the Westin products like the lotion and was told they were out of the products. When checking out of the hotel I asked the front desk attendant what type of pillows were on the bed because I loved them and wanted to order them from the Westin store and she told me she had no idea. On a positive note the bed was extremely comfortable. The room was quiet. Room service was quick and the food was plentiful and delicious. The valet staff was by far the best I’ve ever experienced. They were helpful, patient and polite and never hovered over me waiting for a tip. For once I wanted to tip the valet attendants because they were great...not because I had to. For the amount of money spent on the room, parking and $150 pet boarding fee I did not get the experience and service that is expected from a luxury hotel with those costs. Please do better Westin.

Dear Angie R, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate that you shared both positive experiences and opportunities to improve. While we were delighted to read that you found the bed to be comfortable and other associate encounters positive, I am truly very sorry that there were aspects of your visit in which you were disappointed. Last year we made changes to our guestrooms primarily to our furniture, carpeting, lighting, etc. Some things did change and others changes are still planned. We changed to a 55 inch television in preparation for the new guestroom entertainment system coming later this year. We value the feedback from our guests as it provides us the opportunity to improve. We are addressing each of your concerns and hope that you will note the changes on your next visit to the property. Again thank you for your review. Warm regards, Danita Harth-Bates Director of Hotel Operations

This was a nice hotel in a great location. Rooms were clean, and the corner king suite has a nice layout, 2 balconies and a huge bathroom. The restaurant and bar were closed and we understood due to covid. Parking is an outrageous $46 per night. They are taking covid seriously, as staff doesn't seem to want to be around you. We asked for a bottle of water and was told they couldn't provide one so as to limit contact. But, there is a CVS up the street for those needs. Seriously? They are not servicing rooms every day, which is understandable, but simple things on a long stay like fresh towels and toilet paper were problematic. I think the service this visit is probably a reflection of the service generally, and for a luxury hotel is lacking.

The location is perfect right on the riverwalk with easy access to the restaurants and entertainment. We had booked two rooms. They upgraded the kids to a balcony room just like ours so the “kids” were really happy. We attempted to do the pool one afternoon and we couldn’t get one chair because all the chair horders. There is a bar located right at the pool and lots of people were taking advantage of that. The pool was literally standing room only. The breakfast service was really slow and the cappuccinos had an odd after taste to them. The balcony rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms were clean. I can’t remember if they were servicing rooms or not in July. We have stayed at so many hotels and brands that I can’t remember. I do know that we always ask to not be near the elevator and our room was right next to the elevator so it was incredibly loud at night and in the morning. And there was a horrible pot smell that was in the hallway pretty much everytime we went out there and tried talking to each others rooms or getting stuff. We complained but they didn’t care. We did arrive early and they would not let us check in much earlier than the checkin time. So pretty much it was a run of a mil hotel they just luck out with location trumping it.

We've been Westin fans for a long time, especially because of the Heavenly Bed. Unfortunately, the bed was anything but heavenly. First, it did not have the layers of sheets/duvets that make the bed so comfortable. In fact, it had no fitted bottom sheet, and the bottom sheet used was too small to be tucked under the mattress. We did request the issue with the sheet be fixed and eventually it was (it took a couple of tries). And the mattress itself had seen better times in that it no longer was firm. The restaurant/bar looked like something found at a Courtyard, not a Westin. There are three elevators, but only two seemed to be working. People were taking the elevator up to then going down just to make sure they got a spot on an elevator.
Now the good. The location is excellent, very close to the action, but just far enough to avoid all of the noise and crowds. The lobby is bright and well-appointed. The front desk agents were very friendly and helpful, unfortunately, there were never more than 3 even in very busy times. Other than the bed issue, the room was good, with plenty of plugs to recharge electronics next to the bed, and on the desk. Lastly, the room was very well insulated, i.e., we did not hear any noise from other guests, the elevator, or service areas.

From the time we pulled our car in, the the time we loaded up to leave, the staff at this location went above and beyond. Hospitality is a wonderful industry when done right. It brings people together to enjoy and experience a comfortable time away from home. I never opened a door for myself because someone was always there to grab it. The staff walking the grounds was always smiling (eye crinkling over a mask these days goes a long way) and making sure we had everything we needed. The food and staff at Zocca was also delicious and served in a timely manner. You can always get an elevator! I hate when the elevators take forever at hotels. We were on the 9th floor but I felt like we got to and from our room with ease. We were here for a volleyball tournament, it was pretty busy, but still felt clean and like the staff was prepared and capable of handling many guests needs. We even had a bachelor party in the room next door wake us up at 3am and the security and concierge went above and beyond to rectify the unfortunate situation. This group truly do the Marriott name well. Huge kudos to all of them and their management staff for running so well.

Overall our first visit to the Westin was pleasant. There is direct access to the Riverwalk below and it's on a less traveled portion which kept things pretty quiet in the evenings.
First and foremost, the staff was exceptional. Truly. Absolutely everyone was kind, pleasant, and courteous. They were all efficient at their positions and helpful to no end.
We booked a balcony room hoping to get an overlook of the riverwalk. Sadly, we did not realize that the nearly doubled price of the room included a 3' x 6' platform with one chair. It wasn't exactly the balcony overlook that we were expecting and is pretty useless as far as additional space is concerned. I really wish I would have saved the extra funds and just booked a regular room as that is basically all that was utilized.
The rooms were clean, neat, and well appointed. There is a small fridge which was very useful in the Texas heat to keep beverages cold. The beds were comfortable. We weren't expecting housekeeping services due to Covid restrictions but they did come during our stay. Bed covers were tucked in, pillows arranged, and large towels replaced. Lower sheets were left bunched, glasses were not exchanged, and no other room refreshing was provided. These neglected little details were evident throughout the hotel. Nearly every doorway and door is scuffed and dirty, the plants visible on the terraces below us were all dead and scorched, and the cover of one of the fountains at the pool is missing as a couple of examples.
The pool deck is very nice and the bar can provide most basics. The chairs all have very nice cushions and ample pool towels are available. Bar server was fabulous! The bar menu available is very limited with no available substitutions so keep that in mind if you are planning lunch by the pool.
I would stay here again for the service alone, but would book the room without a balcony and use the extra funds to play a little more. San Antonio is such a fun city!

Not only will they not clean your room, you cannot get clean towels, or amenities like shampoo replenished after 4 days. Called three times each day for towels. It’s an ok location, but don’t plan on any service. The bar closes very early, and food was just ok.

Dear Lori T., Thank you for your time to share your honest review on your stay. We apologize for the less-than-stellar service you encountered from staff, which, we assure you, is not at all indicative of the way we normally operate. In regards to housekeeping, we currently have housekeeping service, every other day, not after four days. In the wake of COVID-19, our team has been persistently working towards providing our guests with a stay that is safe and “contactless” as possible. We are truly sorry and disappointed you had this experience. As business levels pick up we will continue to add services and amenities and hope to return to full-service operations within the coming months. Thank you again for your time.

Good morning! We do not offer complimentary breakfast. We do have many options for breakfast on site in our Cafecito Coffee Shop, In Room Dining and our restaurant Zocca ( right on the beautiful River Walk) for breakfast options.
Thank you for reaching out and we hope to have the pleasure to be of service.
No 100% sure but it’s Texas and all the other non marriot resorts around the area I’ve looked at this time are. Just call the hotel to be sure! I was told yesterday by a jw marriot they had no amenities bc of covid real near here.
Sorry I have no idea about the Thanksgiving dinner.
