The Inn is walking distance from the ferry terminal so you don’t even need to bring a car unless you plan on lots of travel outside Friday Harbor. The Inn is very modern. We had a steam shower that was worth $100 a day to us since you’d pay about this much for a spa treatment. Very friendly hosts. Too many little things to list but we were pleasantly surprised at the value of this place.

The staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room was filled with modern conveniences and well stocked with extras including morning coffee, yogurt, granola and orange juice. It's conveniently located and within walking distance to all of downtown Friday Harbor.

We stayed at The Island Inn as part of a celebration for three milestone birthdays, with a group of 14 staying in various rooms at the inn. We so enjoyed our stay - the staff was so accommodating, and every room was perfect. We especially appreciated that several rooms had great gathering spaces (including a fab rooftop!) and we could enjoy the inn's convenient location - close to the ferry and in walking distance to stores, restaurants and more. All in all, a great experience.

The experience is not worth a $400/ night property. The basics like disposable room slippers, dental kits, stationary, breakfast etc. and the non-availability of staff to seek timely assistance is a big letdown. We felt they are more interested in making more money during this peak tourist season, rather than customer service experience and missing out on the big picture of repeat customers. Please book at your own risk...

Response from The Experience Ambassadors, Innkeeper at The Island Inn at 123 West
Responded Jul 26, 2024
Hello 6peers, We appreciate the time that you’ve taken to share your experience, though it seems that your experience wasn’t with us. While there are San Juan Island lodgings without on-site staff, we’re not one of them. Our INNkeepers are on-site daily, and our Team is always available to assist by both phone and text. We’re very sorry that the experience you had fell short of your expectations. We agree that it’d be a big letdown to stay somewhere without our dedication to crafting off-the-charts guest experiences validated by over 500 guest reviews! All the best, The Island Inn Experience Ambassadors

Great location with a view of Friday Harbor. The room was very spacious, had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were excellent. Theo, the on-site staff person, was outstanding–very helpful and knowledgeable. Easy walking distance to good restaurants. The room was very light, even with all the blinds closed. Other than the bed, the furniture was more interesting than comfortable. Definitely recommend Golden Triangle Thai, San Juan Island Brewery for dinner, and Harbor House (next door) for breakfast. If you knit or crochet, don't miss Island Wools.

Stayed in Penthouse 5 for seven nights. It’s more like a condo. Great views of the harbor out the huge windows in the living room. The shower turns into a steam shower (sauna)… really cool. Big full kitchen which we used two of the nights. Cooked fresh local shrimp (still alive), halibut and king salmon. Most of the restaurants and bars are walking distance. The room also comes SOME complimentary OJ, milk, granola, yogurt.
We were there over 4th of July and we were able to watch the firework display in the harbor from our deck/balcony.
Also, Kind of weird to hype up the hotel next door, but they have an awesome outdoor patio/restaurant/bar with fire pits and a great view of the harbor. But nothing can beat the rooms at the Island Inn, which does not have dinning facilities.

Pros: Everything, including Theo and Scott the managers.

Cons: the bath towels were a little rough… could be a bit softer.

We are returning guests.
We stayed 5 days the end of April, used it as a base for exploring the San Juan islands by tandem bike via the inter-island ferry.
The inn is in a great location, is just a super short walk from the ferry dock.
We stayed in Penthouse 6, it is a really nice space, from the well stocked full kitchen to living room with a very warm gas fireplace to the good-size comfortable bedroom. Plus there is a set of laundry machines and favorite of all is the rooftop deck overlooking the harbor. After a day of cycling, it was a great spot to relax, have evening drinks/dinner while watching the boat traffic in the harbor.
This has been a great place to stay prior to and during the pandemic, it is super clean, there is little to no cross traffic with others on the property. The staff is friendly and helpful.
We’ll be looking forward to the next time we can return for another stay at the Island Inn!

Everything was clean and nice. Reception was very friendly and informative. Beds were comfortable, the heat worked great with no noise. Extremely close to the ferry, restaurants, shops and the marina. They offered a mini breakfast as part of the room, which was a bag of rolled oats cereal, nice bowl of fruit (grapes, blueberries, strawberries), milk, juice and coffee or tea, which was good for my wife and I.
The bathroom is unique in that the wall between it and the bedroom is frosted glass. Real nice, but there are small gaps allowing you to hear things, so it 's best to be familiar with each other. Plenty of sunlight through the frosted glass windows to the outside, allowing privacy and light. It's advertised as no view, but you can see the ferry when it comes in from the room through a part of the window that is not frosted over, so there is a bit of a view.

They had space in the garage for our bikes, which we rode across for a nice ride the next day, otherwise vehicle parking would have been extra.

Overall, a very nice stay and highly recommended.

There are many things to like about this hotel. The location is excellent and right downtown. An easy 50-yard walk from the ferry. The view is amazing (Penthouse 1) and the staff very friendly and super responsive (thanks Theo!). Theo and the hotel staff were extremely responsive and they use text (you need to opt-in) to correspond directly with guests. This may sound strange, but it turned out to be a great feature and they always responded within minutes (if not sooner). Whatever request we had was resolved immediately. A+ service!

We had a view suite that was very large and comfortable. The room was quiet and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Parking is available on-site for an extra fee (recommended as the local parking limits are strictly enforced.) We stayed in Penthouse 1, which is a split suite with the (only) bedroom upstairs. This will be a problem if you have mobility issues. Many restaurants are nearby within walking distance. The marina dock, close to the hotel, is well used and very scenic. Many rooms have private outdoor patios to enjoy the view of this beautiful location.

Love the Island Inn. The perfect location downtown Friday Harbor. It's located just off the ferry dock so you don't have to drive your car on BUT if you chose to drive on they have secure underground parking.

The room was perfect. They offer fresh fruit, granola, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, milk and oj all in room and at no charge.

They have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, lotion and makeup wipes in the restroom.

The staff was so very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back to stay here again.

Sorry - I just saw your response. Sea-Tac is the closest international airport, then there are some ferries from Seattle or a drive to Anacortes then take the ferries from there.

What are the parking accommodations? Someone mentioned a fee
Answer from 123Innkeeper

Hello BarbaraLee, Thanks for asking! On-site parking for vehicles under 7'2" tall and less than 18' long is limited to our parking garage. Parking in the garage, just like our guestrooms, is available by first-come, first-served paid reservation. Garage parking ranges from $15 - $19/car/night depending on the season. Because we have fewer parking spots than we do rooms, we ask that you let us know as soon as you can if you'd like to include parking as part of your experience with us as we may be unable to honor requests for garage parking upon arrival without knowing ahead of time. Outside of garage parking, there is street parking surrounding the hotel. However, street parking is monitored for a two hour limit 8am – 5pm everyday but Sunday and it’s sometimes tricky to find a spot during busy periods! We sure hope this helps and look forward to welcoming you! All the best, The Island Inn Experience Ambassadors
